1. Safety Notes ⚠️
CLAGE accepts no liability for damage or losses resulting from non-compliance with these instructions. Read this manual completely before operating the remote control.
Operation of the appliance and the remote control are equally valid. The last set temperature will be applied by the instantaneous water heater. Ensure that a high temperature is not inadvertently selected. It is recommended to activate the temperature limit function (refer to the instantaneous water heater manual).
Flat batteries can leak and damage the remote control. Replace flat batteries immediately when the battery symbol ? lights up on the display or if there is no response to button presses. If the remote control is not to be used for an extended period, remove the batteries. Do not expose the remote control to moisture.
Keep the remote control and wall bracket away from credit cards or other cards with magnetic strips, as the built-in magnets can damage the magnetic strip. This appliance can be used by children aged 3 years and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning safe use and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be performed by children without supervision.
2. Description of Appliance
The FX 3 remote control allows convenient operation of CLAGE instantaneous water heaters such as DEX Next, DSX Touch, DSX Touch Twin, CEX, and CFX, even when the heater is installed under a sink or in a secondary room. Energy-efficient and demand-based water temperature selection is possible under these conditions with the FX 3 remote control.
Communication between the remote control and the instantaneous water heater occurs via Bluetooth®. This technology ensures secure data transfer even under difficult installation conditions.
To connect the remote control to an instantaneous water heater, an FXE 3 radio adapter must be installed in the water heater.
3. Dimensions
All dimensions are in millimeters (mm).
Remote Control Dimensions:
Width: 125 mm
Height: 58 mm
Depth: 19 mm
Wall Bracket Dimensions:
Width: 97 mm
Height: 60 mm

5. Installation
Before attaching the wall bracket, ensure the remote control can establish radio contact with the instantaneous water heater from the intended position.
The wall bracket can be attached using the included adhesive tape (Figure 1) on a plain surface (e.g., a tile) or with suitable dowels (Ø 4 mm) and screws (Figure 2) on the wall.
When using adhesive tape, no position correction is possible after pressing due to strong adhesion. Ensure horizontal alignment when applying the tape.
The remote control is held magnetically by the wall bracket.
6. Initial Operation
- Ensure the power supply to the instantaneous water heater is switched on and the heater's display (if available) shows the current set value.
- After inserting batteries, hold the remote control directly in front of the instantaneous water heater.
- The remote control will display "bt" and automatically connect to the water heater. This may take up to one minute.
- Once connected, the remote control display switches to the setpoint value display.
If registration is unsuccessful, the display will show "no". The remote control will quit the registration process and enter standby mode. Pressing any button will restart the registration process.
Notes:
- If no remote control is registered or radio connection is not working, the water heater heats to the previously selected set temperature.
- A new registration is not required after replacing batteries or a power failure.
- Automatic re-registration after a battery change or power failure can take up to two minutes.
- If the remote control connects to another instantaneous water heater within radio range during initial registration, disconnect the water heater from the power supply and then start a re-registration (see Chapter 7).
7. Re-registration
To connect the remote control to another instantaneous water heater, press and hold all four buttons on the remote control for at least 5 seconds. This starts the initial operation mode.
8. Handling
The remote control offers the following functions:
1. Arrow Buttons ⬆️⬇️
Use the arrow buttons to gradually decrease or increase the desired temperature. If the temperature display is set to "--", the instantaneous water heater switches off the heating function.
2. Programme Buttons 1, 2
A short press of the programme buttons 1 and 2 allows direct access to preset temperatures without needing to repeatedly press the arrow buttons.
The factory settings are 35°C for Programme 1 and 48°C for Programme 2. You can assign your own settings:
- Select the desired water temperature using the ⬆️⬇️ buttons.
- Press and hold Programme button 1 or 2 for approximately 2 seconds to save the current temperature.
9. Displayed Information
The display corresponds to the temperature indication of the water heater display (if available) after a button press on the remote control. Refer to the instantaneous water heater manual for function descriptions.
Radio Communication ?
The radio symbol is displayed on the remote control when a button is pressed or the registration mode is active.
Battery ?
If the remote control batteries are low, the battery symbol ? is displayed. Replace the batteries promptly (see Chapter 12: Battery Replacement).
Energy Saving Mode ?
The ECO symbol indicates that the instantaneous water heater is operating with energy-saving settings. This means the current energy consumption is within the energy-saving range, depending on the selected temperature and flow rate.
Power Limit ⬆️ MAX
If the full output of the instantaneous water heater is insufficient to heat the tapped water quantity, this will be indicated by MAX on the FX 3 screen.
Operation with Preheated Water ☀️
If the cold water inlet temperature exceeds the set hot water outlet temperature, the appliance will not heat. It will emit no power, and the FX 3 will display the sun symbol ☀️.
10. Communication of the Remote Control
- The remote control contacts the instantaneous water heater at regular intervals. In case of temperature changes or water tapping without a prior button press, updated information on the remote control display may be shown with a slight delay.
- Without an active radio connection, the appliance heats to the previously selected set value.
11. Troubleshooting and Service
The following table helps identify and resolve potential problems:
Problem | Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Display: "no" and appliance does not respond to the remote control | Remote control is not registered at the instantaneous water heater | Register again, remove and insert the batteries again. |
Transmission range exceeded | Place the remote control closer to the appliance, press a button. | |
Remote control registered to another appliance | Reset remote control according to Chapter 7: Re-registration. | |
Display: "bt" | Registration in process | Hold the remote control in front of the instantaneous water heater. |
Symbol "battery" ? lights | Flat batteries | Insert two new AAA batteries. |
Temperature changes unintentional | Operation via other remote control, Smart Control app, or directly on the water heater | Only register the desired remote control. |
