IKEA PAX Wardrobe Assembly Instructions
Important Safety Information
WARNING! This product must be mounted to the wall to complete the assembly. Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur if the product is not mounted according to assembly instructions. Different wall materials require different types of fixing hardware. Use fixing hardware suitable for the walls in your home. Included screws and plugs are suitable for most common walls. If you are uncertain, seek professional advice.

The PAX wardrobe is available in several sizes. Please refer to the diagrams for specific dimensions and part numbers:

Assembly Steps
Step 1: Prepare Frame
Attach the top or bottom rail to the wardrobe frame. Ensure correct placement relative to the edges, noting distances like 2 1/2" (6.3 cm) or 7 5/8" (19.3 cm) as indicated in the diagrams.
Step 2: Wall Mounting Preparation
Mark the wall for mounting the wall bracket plates. The maximum distance from the top edge of the wardrobe frame to the wall bracket should be 7/8" (2.2 cm). Attach the wall bracket plates (10116976, 10116987, 10117011) to the wall using appropriate fixings.
Step 3: Wall Fixing Options
Choose the appropriate fixing method based on your wall type:
- Option A (Concrete/Masonry): Use a Ø 5/16" (8 mm) drill bit and a 2 3/4" (70 mm) screw/plug.
- Option B (Wood Studs): Use a Ø 5/16" (8 mm) drill bit and a screw/plug (approx. 1 1/4" / 30 mm).
- Option C (Other Walls): Use a Ø 1/8" (3 mm) drill bit and a screw/plug (approx. 1 1/4" / 30 mm).
Step 4: Attach Wardrobe to Wall Brackets
Carefully lift the wardrobe frame and align it with the wall brackets. Secure the frame to the brackets using screws (109571, 108817).
Step 5: Prepare for Lifting
Secure the wardrobe panels with straps as shown in the diagrams. Ensure all components are stable before proceeding. Two people are required for lifting.
Step 6: Lift and Position Wardrobe
With assistance, carefully lift the wardrobe and guide it into its final position against the wall.
Step 7: Secure Wardrobe to Wall
Attach the plastic brackets (e.g., 10042549, 10120962) to the wall at the designated points. Then, connect the wardrobe to these wall-mounted brackets.
Step 8: Attach Frame Components
Attach the plastic brackets (10042526) to the wardrobe frame as shown in the diagrams.
Step 9: Secure Frame
Continue securing the wardrobe frame using the provided brackets and clips.
Step 10: Attach Additional Brackets
Attach the plastic brackets (10042526) to the wardrobe frame, ensuring they are correctly oriented.
Step 11: Secure Wardrobe Base
Attach the plastic brackets to the base of the wardrobe frame.
Step 12: Final Wall Securing
Ensure the wardrobe is correctly aligned and securely attached to the wall using the provided brackets. Avoid incorrect attachment methods as shown in the diagrams.
Step 13: Attach Components
Attach the specified components (e.g., 10120505) to the wardrobe frame.
Step 14: Attach Further Components
Attach additional components (e.g., 10046278) to the wardrobe frame as per the diagrams.
Step 15: Assemble and Insert Shelves
Assemble the shelves and insert them into the PAX wardrobe. Ensure they are seated correctly.
Step 16: Attach Shelf Supports
Install shelf supports (110438) into the pre-drilled holes on the inside of the wardrobe frame. Ensure a minimum distance of 1/16" (2 mm) from the edge if specified.
Step 17: Attach Side Panels
Attach the left and right side panels using the appropriate brackets and clips. Follow the diagrams carefully, paying attention to the correct orientation (L/R) and part numbers (e.g., 10115995, 10115992, 10115994 for left; 10115937, 10115938, 10115993 for right). Use a ladder safely if required.
Step 18: Adjust Wardrobe Position
Slide the assembled wardrobe into its final position. Make any necessary adjustments for alignment.
Step 19: Level the Base
Use the provided tool (10094315) to adjust the base of the wardrobe for proper leveling.
Step 20: Secure Components
Secure various components using the specified screws (e.g., 101349) and brackets.
Step 21: Attach Right Side Panel
Attach the right side panel to the wardrobe frame using the designated brackets and clips.
Step 22: Attach Final Components
Complete the assembly by attaching any remaining components using the provided hardware.
Step 23: Attach Clips
Attach the specified clips (e.g., 10042543, 10046300, 10046304) to the wardrobe frame.
Step 24: Attach Top Panel
Carefully attach the top panel of the wardrobe. Ensure it is securely fastened with screws and brackets. Follow the diagrams for correct placement and alignment, noting the 'STOP' indicator.
Step 25: Final Component Attachment
Attach the final components to the wardrobe frame as indicated.
Step 26: Secure Components
Secure components using the provided hardware, following the illustrated steps.
Step 27: Attach Final Brackets
Attach the final brackets to the wardrobe frame, ensuring correct alignment and secure fastening.
Step 28: Attach Corner Brackets
Attach the left (L) and right (R) corner brackets to the wardrobe frame. Ensure they click into place securely.
Step 29: Insert Shelves
Insert the shelves into the assembled wardrobe frame.
Step 30: Final Adjustments
Make any final adjustments to ensure the wardrobe is stable and properly installed.
