Article No. 94 53 49
Introduction & Safety Overview
This manual provides essential operating instructions and safety guidelines for the Westfalia WOF 1600 Router. Please read thoroughly before use and keep for future reference.
⚠️ Important Safety Precautions:
- ? Do not wear gloves; they can get caught in moving parts, causing severe injury.
- ? Always wear a dust mask. Consider ear protection (?) and safety goggles (?).
- Inspect workpieces for nails and screws and remove them before routing.
- Operate the router with steady, even pressure; avoid forcing the tool.
- Ensure the router is switched off and unplugged before changing cutters or making adjustments.
- Never attempt to stop the cutter with your hands or by applying lateral pressure.
- Allow the cutter to stop completely before removing it from the workpiece or setting the machine down.
- Do not touch the cutter immediately after use; it can be very hot.
- Keep ventilation slots clean and free from debris.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or aggressive chemicals for maintenance.
- Do not disassemble the unit or attempt self-repairs; contact customer support.

Operating Procedures
Preparation & Setup
- Unpacking: Remove router from packaging, check for transit damage. Store packaging away from children.
- Power Connection: Verify mains voltage matches the unit's rating plate.
- Switching On/Off: Press and hold the safety button (2) while operating the ON/OFF switch (3).
- Inserting Milling Cutter:
- Disconnect power.
- Ensure collet size matches cutter shank (6, 8, 12 mm collets provided).
- Press spindle lock (8), loosen collet nut (10). Insert cutter shank at least 20 mm into collet.
- Press spindle lock (8) again, tighten collet nut (10) with the spanner.
- Run router at no-load speed to check for balance.
Setting Milling Depth
- Place router on workpiece.
- Set stepped depth control stop (9) to lowest position.
- Loosen retaining lever (14), push machine down until cutter touches surface.
- Note depth reading on scale (15).
- Position router at edge, cutter slightly overhanging.
- Lower machine until scale shows desired depth minus noted value.
- Secure depth with wing screw (11).
- Release machine to return to resting position.
Milling Techniques
- Basic Milling: Place router on workpiece, switch on, lower until depth stop contacts, mill with steady feed. Raise and switch off when done.
- Milling with Stepped Depth Control: For deep cuts, use the stepped depth control stop (9) for multi-stage milling. Adjust depth incrementally.
- Milling with Parallel Guide: Attach guide rods (6) to parallel guide, insert into base plate guides, set measurement, and tighten screws (7).
- Using the Compass Point: Secure a guide rod in the rear channel, move front locking nut. Attach compass point to rod end, adjust height, and set distance from cutter to scribe circles.
- Edging/Profile Milling: Use a ball-bearing cutter. Guide router along edge until bearing contacts. Maintain a suitable angle with both hands, avoid excessive pressure.
- Direction of Milling: Always mill against cutter rotation (counter-rotation). Milling with rotation can cause recoil.
Dust Extraction
Inhaling wood dust is hazardous. Use a dust mask and connect a dust extraction system or vacuum cleaner hose to the adaptor.

Template Follower
Use the template follower for pattern routing. Remove base plate screws, insert follower (downwards), and secure. Position router with follower against template. Lower router to desired depth. Guide router along template with light sideward pressure.

Maintenance & Cleaning
- Clean the router with a soft, dry cloth and brush. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Keep ventilation slots clear of dust and debris.
- Store the router in a dry, protected location.
