Make It Happen
Thank You
Thank you for using the HOTO Golf Laser Rangefinder. Please read this manual carefully before use and retain it for future reference.
01 Product Introduction
The HOTO Golf Laser Rangefinder is designed for accurate distance measurement in golf. Key components include:
- Focusing knob: For adjusting the viewfinder clarity.
- Power/Measure button: To turn the device on/off and initiate measurements.
- Mode switch/Set button: To cycle through measurement modes and access settings.
- Laser emission object glass: Emits the laser pulse.
- Laser receiving object glass: Receives the reflected laser pulse.
- Golf mode indicator: Shows when golf-specific modes are active.
- Observation eyepiece / Viewfinder: Where the user views the target and measurement data.
- Charging port: For recharging the device ([USB-C] interface).
- Lanyard hole: For attaching a wrist strap.
02 Interface Introduction
The device features several modes and indicators on its display:
Measurement Modes:
- Straight-line distance mode: Displays the direct distance to the target.
- Golf compensation mode: Adjusts for uphill/downhill slopes.
- Flagpole lock-in mode: Specifically designed to lock onto a flagpole, even with background objects.
Indicators:
- Flagpole lock status: '1' indicates [flagpole unlocked], '2' indicates [flagpole locked].
- Cross sight: Flashes while finding/measuring, stops when measurement is complete.
- Uphill/Downhill indicator: '1' indicates [uphill], '2' indicates [downhill].
Display Information:
- Straight-line distance mode: Shows the actual distance.
- Flagpole mode: Shows the distance to the flagpole, height, and angle.
- Golf compensation modes: Shows the compensation distance.
Status Indicators:
- Battery level: Displays [battery level].
- Setting mode: Indicates when the device is in configuration mode.
- Vibrate mode: Shows if vibration feedback is enabled.
- Unit of measurement: Displays '[meter unit]' for meters or '[yard unit]' for yards.
03 Instructions for Use
Power On/Off and Measure
Short press the [power/measure button] to turn the device on. The interface appears, then automatically enters the measurement state. Press the button again to measure. The result is displayed. The device powers off automatically after 10 seconds of inactivity. Long press the [power/measure button] to measure real-time distance.
Focusing
Turn the [focusing knob] until the target and display are clear in the [viewfinder].
Selecting Modes
Short press the [mode/set button] to cycle through the four modes: Straight-line distance, Flagpole mode, Golf compensation flagpole mode, and Golf compensation measurement mode.
Setting Functions
Long press the [mode/set button] for 2 seconds to enter setting mode. Short press to switch between setting the unit ([meter unit]/[yard unit]) and the [vibrate mode] (on/off). Short press the [power/measure button] to confirm changes.
Measurement Types
- Straight-line distance: Single press for one measurement, long press for [continuous scan].
- Distance, Height, and Angle: Single press for one measurement, long press for [continuous scan].
Note on Vibration: When [vibrate mode] is on, the device vibrates once for a standard measurement and twice for flagpole lock. When [vibrate mode] is off, it still vibrates twice for flagpole lock.
Flagpole Lock-in Mode
When measuring targets with overlapping objects (e.g., a flag with trees behind it), long press the [power/measure button] to lock onto the nearest target, such as the flag. The product will vibrate twice upon successful measurement.
Golf Compensation Modes
In Golf flagpole/measurement modes, the [indicator lamp] under the [laser receiving glass] will be on. Long press the [power/measure button] to display the golf compensation distance, actual distance, and height. This applies to both uphill and downhill measurements, showing the adjusted distance for the golf trajectory.
Safety Warning
The golf distance meter uses an invisible infrared pulse laser that is safe for eyes. It measures distance by calculating the time for the laser pulse to travel to and from the target. Measurement range and precision depend on target reflectivity, color, surface finish, size, and shape.
Optimal Measurement Conditions:
- Clear weather
- Targets with shiny appearance
- Zero impurities in the air
- Targets with highly reflective surfaces
Conditions Affecting Measurement:
- Black targets
- Snowy, rainy, or foggy weather
- Targets with obviously diffuse surfaces
- Small or micro targets
- Measurements through glass
- Moving targets
- Strong light interference/sharp sunlight
04 Safety Regulations
Warning: Read safety regulations and instructions before first use. Failure to comply may result in product damage, inaccurate measurements, or personal injury.
- Do not disassemble or repair the product yourself.
- Do not modify the laser emitter.
- Keep the product away from children and unauthorized persons.
- Never expose eyes or body parts to the laser emitter or highly reflective surfaces.
- Avoid using the product near aircraft, medical equipment, or in inflammable/explosive environments due to potential electromagnetic interference.
- Dispose of used batteries and obsolete products according to local laws and regulations (referencing [WEEE symbol] directive 2012/19/EU).
- Contact local distributors or Shanghai Qiwai Culture Technology Co., Ltd. for product issues.
Laser Information: Class 1 laser product. Invisible laser radiation. Maximum laser radiation output: 1 mW. Wavelength: 905 nm. Complies with IEC 60825-1:2014; EN 60825-1:2014.
Compliance: The product complies with EU Directives (2014/30/EU EMC, 2011/65/EU RoHS) and FCC Rules (CFR 47 Part 15).
