CONTROL VALVE OVERVIEW
WARNING: Always turn off the sand filter water pump before changing the function on the control valve to avoid damaging the unit or causing injury. If you change the function on the control valve while the pump is running, the control valve may be damaged and may cause injury or property damage.
How to use the control valve
Press the control valve lever down to turn it to the desired function position.
CONTROL VALVE FUNCTIONS
The control valve is equipped with six different functions: filtering, stop water flow, clean sand bed, rinse, drain, and recirculate.
- Filtering: This function is used to filter pool water. The control valve should always be in this position. Water passes through the sand filter, where it is cleaned, and then returns to the pool.
- Stop water flow: This function is used to stop the water flow between the sand filter water pump and the pool.
- Clean sand bed: This function is used to clean the sand bed. Water passes through the collector pipe, then through the sand bed, and finally exits through outlet D.
- Rinse: This function is used for initial setup, cleaning, and settling the sand bed after cleaning. Water passes through the sand bed, then through the collector pipe, and finally exits through the valve at outlet D.
- Drain: This function is used to drain water from the pool, bypassing the sand filter. When draining water from the pool, the pump expels water through outlet D instead of returning it to the pool.
- Recirculate: This function is used to bypass the sand filter. Use this function when the filter is broken to stop debris in the situation.
NOTE:
- Check that all wastewater disposal regulations comply with applicable local, state, or national regulations. Do not discharge water where it could cause flooding or damage.
- When the control valve is in the clean sand bed, rinse, or drain position, water will exit through outlet D on the control valve.
- Do not turn on or operate the sand filter water pump when the control valve is in the stop water flow position, as this will cause serious damage.
- When using the sand filter, do not set the control valve between two functions, as this may cause water leakage.
- To prevent water leakage, place the cap on inlet D on the control valve before using the sand filter.
Air Bleeding
Press down the control valve lever and wait until water starts to flow out of outlet D to bleed the air.
NOTE: This procedure is very important to repeat every time you start using the pump after a long period of disuse, or after performing maintenance or cleaning the sand bed.
FIRST USE INSTRUCTIONS
Cleaning the sand bed and rinsing must be done to prepare the pump for use and rinse the sand.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN ON THE SAND FILTER WATER PUMP WHEN THERE IS NOT ENOUGH WATER IN IT.
- Press down the control valve lever to turn it to the clean sand bed position.
- Insert the plug into the socket and let the sand filter run for 3 to 5 minutes or until the water becomes clear.
- Turn off the sand filter water pump and move the control valve to the rinse position.
- Turn on the sand filter water pump and let it run for one minute. Water passes through the sand filter and exits through outlet D.
- Turn off the sand filter water pump.

Pool Water Level Reduction and Drainage
Move the control valve to the stop water flow position.
6. Add more water to the pool if necessary.
IMPORTANT: This procedure drains water from the pool that you wish to replace. Immediately turn off the sand filter water pump if the water level in the pool is at the same level as the inlet and outlet valves.
- The sand filter water pump is now ready for use. Set the control valve on the sand filter to the filter position.
- Turn on the sand filter water pump and start it.
NOTE: Remove excess water from the sand filter water pump and wipe it dry to avoid the risk of electric shock.
NOTE: The sand filter has started the filtration process. Check that water is returning to the pool and observe the pressure reading on the pressure gauge to which the filter is exposed. The recommended pressure for the sand filter is less than 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI) when the water pump is running.
Sand Filter Water Pump Maintenance
CAUTION: Ensure the sand filter is turned off and the power cord is unplugged from the socket before performing any maintenance, otherwise, there is a risk of injury or death. As debris accumulates in the sand filter, the pressure reading on the pressure gauge increases. When the pressure reading is 0.25 bar (3.5 PSI) or higher, the water flow to the pool is low, and the sand needs to be cleaned. To clean the sand bed, follow the instructions provided: Cleaning the sand bed and rinsing.
NOTE: The pressure gauge used solely for maintenance purposes provides approximate pressure readings and should not be used as a precise pressure measuring device.
NOTE: We recommend cleaning the sand bed at least once a month, or even less frequently depending on how often the pool is used. Do not clean the sand bed too often.
Cleaning the Mesh Filter
- Turn off the sand filter water pump and move the control valve to the stop water flow position.
- Replace the debris screens with retainers to prevent water leakage.
- Unscrew the lid of the mesh filter and remove it.
- Remove the mesh filter and clean it of debris.
- Replace the mesh filter in its correct position. Ensure the hole in the mesh filter is correctly positioned.
- Check that the O-ring is correctly positioned. Secure the cover to the mesh filter lid.
- Remove the retainers and install the debris screens.
NOTE: Periodically empty and clean the mesh filter. A dirty or clogged mesh filter will reduce the efficiency of the sand filter.
Reducing Pool Water Level and Draining
- Turn off the sand filter water pump and move the control valve to the drain position.
- Disconnect the hose from port A on the pool and port A on the sand filter, and connect it to port D.
- Turn on the sand filter water pump to start the filter and pump water out of the pool.
NOTE: Remember to place the retainer in the place of the debris screen to prevent water leakage.
WARNING: DO NOT TURN ON THE SAND FILTER WATER PUMP WHEN THE WATER LEVEL IN THE POOL IS INSUFFICIENT.
Preparing the pump for storage during the cold season
The pump must be prepared for storage in areas with low temperatures during winter to prevent damage. Freezing water inside the pump will damage the sand filter and void the product warranty.
- Clean the sand filter bed.
- Pump out the water from the pool according to the pool usage instructions in the user manual.
- Disconnect the two hoses from the pool and the sand filter water pump.
- Empty all the sand from the tank and dry all components.
- Store the sand filter water pump in a dry place out of reach of children.
