IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - READ AND FOLLOW IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND SAVE THEM

Always follow these basic safety measures when setting up and using this electric appliance:

WARNING: This sand filter water pump is intended for use with above-ground pools only. Do not use with permanently installed pools. An above-ground pool is constructed so that it can be easily disassembled for storage and reassembled in its original form. A permanently installed pool is built into the ground or within a structure in such a way that it is not easily disassembled for storage.

NOTE:

Disposal of the Pump

Meaning of the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin:

Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, but take them to designated collection points for this type of waste. Contact your local authority for information on available collection methods for this type of waste. If appliances are disposed of in landfills or on dumps, hazardous substances could leak into the groundwater and thus enter the food chain, harming your health and well-being. When replacing old appliances with new ones, the seller is legally obliged to take back your old appliances free of charge for proper disposal.

Operation

CONTROL VALVE OVERVIEW

WARNING: Always turn off the sand filter water pump before changing the function on the control valve to avoid damaging the unit or causing injury. If you change the function on the control valve while the pump is running, the control valve may be damaged and may cause injury or property damage.

How to use the control valve

Press the control valve lever down to turn it to the desired function position.

CONTROL VALVE FUNCTIONS

The control valve is equipped with six different functions: filtering, stop water flow, clean sand bed, rinse, drain, and recirculate.

NOTE:

Air Bleeding

Press down the control valve lever and wait until water starts to flow out of outlet D to bleed the air.

NOTE: This procedure is very important to repeat every time you start using the pump after a long period of disuse, or after performing maintenance or cleaning the sand bed.

FIRST USE INSTRUCTIONS

Cleaning the sand bed and rinsing must be done to prepare the pump for use and rinse the sand.

CAUTION: DO NOT TURN ON THE SAND FILTER WATER PUMP WHEN THERE IS NOT ENOUGH WATER IN IT.

  1. Press down the control valve lever to turn it to the clean sand bed position.
  2. Insert the plug into the socket and let the sand filter run for 3 to 5 minutes or until the water becomes clear.
  3. Turn off the sand filter water pump and move the control valve to the rinse position.
  4. Turn on the sand filter water pump and let it run for one minute. Water passes through the sand filter and exits through outlet D.
  5. Turn off the sand filter water pump.

Clean sand bed

Rinse

Pool Water Level Reduction and Drainage

Move the control valve to the stop water flow position.

6. Add more water to the pool if necessary.

IMPORTANT: This procedure drains water from the pool that you wish to replace. Immediately turn off the sand filter water pump if the water level in the pool is at the same level as the inlet and outlet valves.

  1. The sand filter water pump is now ready for use. Set the control valve on the sand filter to the filter position.
  2. NOTE: Remove excess water from the sand filter water pump and wipe it dry to avoid the risk of electric shock.

  3. Turn on the sand filter water pump and start it.

NOTE: The sand filter has started the filtration process. Check that water is returning to the pool and observe the pressure reading on the pressure gauge to which the filter is exposed. The recommended pressure for the sand filter is less than 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI) when the water pump is running.

Sand Filter Water Pump Maintenance

CAUTION: Ensure the sand filter is turned off and the power cord is unplugged from the socket before performing any maintenance, otherwise, there is a risk of injury or death. As debris accumulates in the sand filter, the pressure reading on the pressure gauge increases. When the pressure reading is 0.25 bar (3.5 PSI) or higher, the water flow to the pool is low, and the sand needs to be cleaned. To clean the sand bed, follow the instructions provided: Cleaning the sand bed and rinsing.

NOTE: The pressure gauge used solely for maintenance purposes provides approximate pressure readings and should not be used as a precise pressure measuring device.

NOTE: We recommend cleaning the sand bed at least once a month, or even less frequently depending on how often the pool is used. Do not clean the sand bed too often.

Cleaning the Mesh Filter

  1. Turn off the sand filter water pump and move the control valve to the stop water flow position.
  2. Replace the debris screens with retainers to prevent water leakage.
  3. Unscrew the lid of the mesh filter and remove it.
  4. Remove the mesh filter and clean it of debris.
  5. Replace the mesh filter in its correct position. Ensure the hole in the mesh filter is correctly positioned.
  6. Check that the O-ring is correctly positioned. Secure the cover to the mesh filter lid.
  7. Remove the retainers and install the debris screens.

NOTE: Periodically empty and clean the mesh filter. A dirty or clogged mesh filter will reduce the efficiency of the sand filter.

Reducing Pool Water Level and Draining

  1. Turn off the sand filter water pump and move the control valve to the drain position.
  2. Disconnect the hose from port A on the pool and port A on the sand filter, and connect it to port D.
  3. NOTE: Remember to place the retainer in the place of the debris screen to prevent water leakage.

  4. Turn on the sand filter water pump to start the filter and pump water out of the pool.

WARNING: DO NOT TURN ON THE SAND FILTER WATER PUMP WHEN THE WATER LEVEL IN THE POOL IS INSUFFICIENT.

Preparing the pump for storage during the cold season

The pump must be prepared for storage in areas with low temperatures during winter to prevent damage. Freezing water inside the pump will damage the sand filter and void the product warranty.

  1. Clean the sand filter bed.
  2. Pump out the water from the pool according to the pool usage instructions in the user manual.
  3. Disconnect the two hoses from the pool and the sand filter water pump.
  4. Empty all the sand from the tank and dry all components.
  5. Store the sand filter water pump in a dry place out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Sand entering the poolSand particles are too fine- It is recommended to use silica sand #20 with a grain size of 0.45 mm to 0.85 mm.
Move the control valve from the clean sand bed position to the filter position without stopping the sand filter operation.- Stop the sand filter operation each time you move the control valve to a different position.
Sand level is too high- Check that the sand level in the tank is between the "MAX" and "MIN" marks located on the debris collector pipe.
Mesh filter is torn- Replace the mesh filter.
No water flowRetainers have not been removed- Remove the retainers and install the debris screens.
Air has not been bled- Bleed the air.
Control valve is closed- Turn the control valve to the filter position.
Mesh filter is clogged- Clean the mesh filter.
Sand filter is torn- Contact technical service.
Excessive pressure in the filterFilter is dirty- Clean the filter.
Limescale buildup on the sand bed- Check the sand and replace it if necessary.
Filter has not been completely cleaned- Clean the filter until the water is clear.
Pressure gauge is faulty- Replace the pressure gauge.
Water leaking from outlet D on the control valveControl valve is set between two functions- Turn the control valve to one position.
Seal is torn- Replace the seal.
Water leaking from the connectionsSeal on the connections is not correctly positioned- Position the seal correctly.
Seal on the connections is torn- Replace the seal.
O-ring on the hose connection is torn- Replace the O-ring.
Clamps are loose- Tighten them.
