Your guide to getting started and key features.
Device Overview
The Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ features several key components:
- 1. Volume: Controls audio volume.
- 2. Power button: Turns the device on/off or puts it to sleep.
- 3. Headphone jack: For connecting audio output devices.
- 4. Windows Hello camera: Enables facial recognition for secure sign-in.
- 5. Front-facing camera: For video calls and photos.
- 6. USB-C port: For data transfer, display output, and charging.
- 7. USB-A port: For connecting standard USB peripherals.
- 8. nano SIM card tray: Holds a nano SIM card for cellular connectivity.
- 9. Surface Connect port: For connecting Surface accessories and charging.
The device is shown with a kickstand for versatile viewing angles.
Getting Started
- Plug the power cable into your Surface Pro and then into the wall.
- Press the power button.
- Windows will guide you through the setup process, help you connect to Wi-Fi, and choose your language preference.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account. If you already have one, use it to sync settings and content across devices. If not, you can create one using any email address.

Windows Hello Setup
Set up Windows Hello for secure, password-free sign-in using the integrated camera:
- Swipe in from the right and select "All settings".
- Navigate to "Accounts" > "Sign-in options".
- Under "Manage how you sign in to your device," select "Windows Hello Face" > "Set up," and follow the on-screen instructions.
LTE Connectivity
Connect to a mobile operator network using one of two methods:
Option 1: Insert a nano SIM card
- Use the included SIM ejector tool to open the SIM card tray.
- Place your mobile operator's nano SIM card in the tray and close it.
- Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Cellular.
- To use your SIM for cellular data, select "SIM 1".
- On the taskbar, select the Network icon and ensure your mobile operator is listed.
Note: For assistance with your nano SIM card or cellular service, contact your mobile operator.
Option 2: Use the embedded SIM (eSIM)
- Ensure you have an internet connection.
- Select Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Cellular. For "Use this SIM for cellular data," select "eSIM," then "Connect with a data plan."
- The Mobile Plans app will open. Select your operator if listed, or follow prompts to visit their website to set up an account and purchase a new data plan.
- On the taskbar, select the Network icon, choose your cellular network, and follow any additional steps to connect.

Battery Health
Rechargeable batteries degrade over time. Follow these tips to maintain battery health and performance:
- Once a month, let the battery drain to below 50% before charging.
- Avoid keeping the device plugged in 24/7.
- Store the device in a cool, dry environment.
- If storing the device long-term, charge the battery to 50% every six months.
