Audio Authority 980EZ System Module Supplementary Instructions

Supplementary Instructions for the 980EZ System Module

The 980 System Module is vital to the function of several features of the Access System. The new 980EZ has essentially the same functions as the original 980 module, but with a slightly different organization. Important features and landmarks are described here for comparison.

System Bus Headers

The 980EZ features smaller System Bus headers. To adapt to larger System Bus sizes, use an 802-319 cable. Contact Audio Authority Technical Service for assistance at 800/322-8346.

Indicator LEDs

The 980EZ indicator LEDs are arranged in a single column. The white Bus Monitor LED is an exception and is located among the System Bus headers.

TheftAlert™

To activate TheftAlert™ on the original 980, a jumper was pulled from the two pins labeled “CUT TO ACTIVATE.” On the 980EZ, TheftAlert™ is activated by flipping the rocker switch labeled “TA RESET” to the OFF position. Flip this switch to the ON position momentarily to reset TheftAlert™ in the absence of a 902 or 903 control panel. A remote TheftAlert™ reset switch may also be installed.

Metal Cover

The 980EZ has an optional protective metal cover. This cover provides a surface for clear legends and identification, and it shields the module against electrical noise.

Diagrams and Layouts

Original 980 Module Layout

The original 980 module features a large component labeled "PROCESSOR". It includes a circular dial, and three sets of RCA connectors labeled A, B, and C, each with ports for "IN FROM SOURCE" and "OUT TO AMPLIFIER". Indicator LEDs are present for "LOW BATTERY", "THEFT ALERT", and "SYSTEM RESET".

980EZ Module Layout (Without Cover)

The 980EZ module (without its cover) also features a "PROCESSOR" component and three sets of RCA connectors labeled A, B, and C, each with "IN FROM SOURCE" and "OUT TO AMPLIFIER" ports. Indicator LEDs are arranged in a vertical column and include "SILENT TOUCH", "MONITOR", "LOW BATTERY", and "THEFT ALERT". A rocker switch labeled "TA RESET" (with ON/OFF positions) and a "SYSTEM RESET" button are present. A block of switches/jumpers is labeled for "TA RESET", "PWR MODE", "SPKR", and "LIMIT".

980EZ Module Layout (With Cover)

The 980EZ module with its cover shows terminal blocks for "SYSTEM BUS" and "DC POWER". It is identified as "Audio Authority AccessEz™ Model 980 System Module". Additional terminal blocks are provided for "12V SIREN", "THEFT ALERT™", and "REMOTES". A switch block is available for "THEFT ALERT™ RESET", "POWER MODE", and "SPEAKER LIMIT" with numbered positions and ON/OFF settings. A "SYSTEM RESET" button is also visible. The module supports "983 902 OR 903" devices. Part number 701-1092 is indicated.
