Block Diagram
The NPP-450 series utilizes a block diagram comprising an EMI Filter, Active Inrush Current Limiting, Rectifiers & PFC stage, Power Switching, Rectifiers & Filter stage, Over Voltage Protection (OVP) and Over Temperature Protection (OTP) Detection Circuit, PFC Control, PWM Control, Auxiliary Power supply, Control Circuit, and a Fan. The unit supports selectable Charger mode/PSU mode via a jumper, and includes Remote ON-OFF control and Data Isolation.
Derating Curves
Power Derating Curve: The graph shows that for ambient temperatures above 50°C, the maximum allowable power output decreases linearly. For example, at 60°C, the power is reduced to 80% of its rated value, and at 70°C, it is reduced to 60%. The curve is shown for 230VAC input only.
Output Current vs. Input Voltage Curve: This graph illustrates that the output current capability remains at 100% for input voltages between approximately 100V and 264VAC (at 60Hz). For input voltages below 100V, the output current is derated.
Output Voltage vs. Output Current (Charger Mode): This chart shows the relationship between output voltage and current for different models in charger mode. For example, the NPP-450-12 has a voltage range of 10.5-21V and a rated current of 25A. The rated current should change with the output voltage programming accordingly.
Function Manual
Operation Modes
The NPP-450 can operate as either a Battery Charger or a Power Supply. This mode is selected using a jumper on pins 3 and 4. When the jumper is connected between pins 3 and 4, the unit operates in Power Supply mode. When the jumper is removed, it defaults to Battery Charger mode.
Charging Curve (Charging Mode)
The unit employs a 3-stage charging curve: Stage 1 (Constant Current), Stage 2 (Constant Current), and Stage 3 (Constant Voltage/Float). The charging process is indicated by an LED: Red indicates Stage 1 or Stage 2 (charging), and Green indicates Stage 3 (float stage) or full charge. The table below shows the Vboost and Vfloat values for each model:
State | NPP-450-12 | NPP-450-24 | NPP-450-48 | NPP-450-72 |
---|---|---|---|---|
Constant Current | 25A | 13.5A | 6.8A | 5.5A |
Vboost | 14.4V | 28.8V | 57.6V | 72V |
Vfloat | 13.8V | 27.6V | 55.2V | 69V |
The unit is suitable for lead-acid batteries (flooded, Gel and AGM).
Charger OK / DC OK Signal
This is a TTL level signal, with a maximum sourcing current of 10mA.
- Signal: "High" (4.5~5.5V) Status: Work normally (Charger OK / DC OK)
- Signal: "Low" (-0.5~0.5V) Status: Failure or protection function activated
Remote ON-OFF Control
The NPP-450 can be turned ON/OFF remotely using the "Remote Control" function. This is achieved by connecting pins 7 (Remote ON-OFF) and 8 (+12Vaux).
- Connection: Short (Pin 7 = 10.8~13.2V) Status: ON (Default)
- Connection: Open (Pin 7 = -0.5 ~ 0.5V) Status: OFF
Mechanical Specification
The unit has dimensions of 205mm (Length) x 130mm (Width) x 55mm (Height). The airflow direction is indicated by an arrow pointing towards the front panel.
