NEEWER NW-870 Camera Wireless Timer Remote

This document provides instructions for the NEEWER NW-870 Camera Wireless Timer Remote.

Overview

Thank you for purchasing the NEEWER NW-870. This is a high-performance wireless timer remote control, offering wired or wireless operation for single, low speed/high speed continuous, bulb, delay shooting, and timer planning shooting modes. Please read this manual carefully to understand its usage for your camera.

Caution Before Use

  • ⚠️ Make sure the camera is powered off before installing the device (YP-870RX). Do not pull the cable when connecting the product.
  • This is an electronic product accessory; certain environmental conditions may affect its working, though the probability is low.
  • Avoid strong vibrations, as they may lead to product failure.
  • Turn off the battery if the product will not be used for a long time.
  • Do not expose the product to high temperatures, such as inside a closed car under direct sunlight.
  • Keep the product dry. Do not touch it with wet hands, immerse it in water, or expose it to rain, as this may cause it to malfunction.
  • Do not use flammable gases near the product, as this may cause an explosion or fire.
  • ⚠️ As this product contains a battery, please strictly follow the operating instructions to prevent explosion, fire, or personal injury.

Function Introduction

  • Adopts free global FSK2.4GHz signal for stable operation and a range of over 100m.
  • The YP-870 TX also functions as a wired remote control, supporting single, low speed/high speed continuous, bulb, delay shooting, and timer planning shooting modes.
  • The YP-870 TX can be used as a wired remote when powered off by plugging in the camera connect cable.
  • Features 32 channels to prevent signal interference by setting different groups.
  • Supports an LCD display showing channel information for the transmitter and receiver, making it clear and easy to operate.
  • Allows changing the shutter connecting cable to control different camera brands and models.

  • CH icon: Displays the current channel.

Install and Use

The Way of Install the Battery of Transmitter

  1. Open the battery cover.
  2. Install the battery in the correct way (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery cover.

The Way of Install the Battery of Receiver

  1. Open the battery cover.
  2. Install the CR-2 battery in the correct way (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery cover.

⚠️ Caution to install the positive and negative terminals of the battery correctly.

Fix the (NW-870RX)

Support installing the receiver in the hot-shoe, bracket, and tripod.

Set the Communication Channels

Set Transmitter (TX) Channels

Ensure the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) are on the same channels. Supports up to 32 channels.

  1. Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds, then press the [CH] button. The channel number icon will flicker.
  2. Press [+] or [-] to adjust the channel number.
  3. Press the [S/L] button again to keep the current channel number.

Note: If the transmitter is used as a wired remote control, parameter settings do not need adjustment.

Set the Receiver (RX) Communication Channels

  1. Press the power button for 2 seconds.
  2. Press the [CH+] or [CH-] button; the channel number icon will flicker.
  3. Press [CH+] or [CH-] to adjust the channels.
  4. Press both [CH+] or [CH-] simultaneously, or wait 6 seconds without operation, to save and return to channel settings.

Receiver (RX) to Connect the Camera

  1. Ensure the receiver and camera are powered off. First, insert the connect cable into the camera.
  2. Ensure the cable and camera are connected.
  3. Install the camera to a tripod or other bracket and open the camera protector, then insert the cable into the camera.
  4. Turn on the receiver and camera power.

Note: The transmitter (TX) can be used as a wired camera remote by connecting the cable to the camera.

Use the Device

Single Shooting / Low Continuous Shooting / High Speed Continuous Shooting

  1. With the transmitter (TX) in working status, press the [ ] button to rapidly switch to single shooting, low speed continuous shooting, or high speed continuous shooting mode. The screen will display the corresponding icon.
  2. Press the [S/L] button; the screen will display "time and status of icon flicker".
  3. Press the [+] or [-] buttons again to switch between "CS (single shooting)", "CL (low speed continuous shooting)", or "CH (high speed continuous shooting mode)".

  1. Press the shutter release button halfway; the blue light will turn on, and the camera will be zooming.
  2. Press the shutter release button fully; the red signal will turn on, and the camera will be working.

Notes:

  • When the transmitter is in CS (Single shooting mode), a full press of the release button results in single shooting.
  • When the transmitter is in CL (Low speed continuous shooting mode), a full press and hold of the shooting button results in low speed shooting until the button is released.
  • When the transmitter is in CH (High speed continuous mode), a full press and hold of the shooting button results in high speed shooting until the button is released.
  • Low continuous shooting and high speed continuous shooting modes do not require the camera to be set to the same mode.

[BULB] Shooting Mode

  1. Ensure the camera is set to [BULB] mode.
  2. Press the transmitter's [BULB] button; the screen will display [BULB] (as shown in the picture).
  3. Press the shooting button halfway; the blue light will turn on, and the camera will be zooming.
  4. Press the shooting button fully; the red light will flicker, and the product will output the signal, entering BULB shooting mode.
  5. Press the shooting release button again to stop the signal and complete the BULB shooting mode.

Delay Shooting Mode

Delay Parameter Setting:

  1. Press the transmitter [ ] button; the screen will display [ ] indicating the camera is in delay shooting mode (as shown in the left picture).
  2. Press the [S/L] button; the product enters delay shooting mode, and the shooting icon will flicker. Press [+] or [-] to set the delay interval time (1-59 seconds) as shown in Picture A.
  3. Use the left button [ ] to enter the setting for the shooting picture number (1-99) in delay shooting mode, using [+] or [-] for adjustment, as shown in Picture B.
  4. After parameter setting, press the [S/L] button to save and exit.

Delay Shooting Mode Operation:

  1. Press the shooting release button halfway; the blue light turns on, and the camera is in zooming state.
  2. Press the shooting release button fully; the remote control will count down, the red signal will flicker, and it will enter the delay shooting state.
  3. After the countdown, the remote control will set the shooting picture number, outputting a signal to control the camera each second.

Timer Plan Shooting Mode

Pressing the transmitter's [ ] button will display the [ ] icon on the LCD screen, entering timer remote mode (see left picture).

A: Timer Remote Parameter Setting

a. Delay Shooting Setting Mode:

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to choose the [DELAY] shooting icon.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to enter the delay time setting for "seconds". Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to adjust "Minute" and "Hour" settings, as shown in the pictures below.

  1. Press the number buttons [+] or [-]. If not released, the number will increase or decrease rapidly.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to save and exit.

b. Exposure Time Setting:

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to choose the [LONG] exposure icon.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to enter the delay time setting for "seconds". Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to adjust "Minute" and "Hour" settings.

  1. Press the number buttons [+] or [-]. If not released, the number will increase or decrease rapidly.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to save and exit.

c. Interval Time Shooting Setting Mode:

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to choose the [INTVL] icon.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to enter the delay time setting for "seconds". Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to adjust "Minute" and "Hour" settings.

  1. Press the number buttons [+] or [-]. If not released, the number will increase or decrease rapidly.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to save and exit.

d. Shooting Number of Picture Setting:

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to choose the [N1] icon.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to enter the timer shooting picture number mode (see left picture).
  3. Press the number buttons [+] or [-]. If not released, the number will increase or decrease rapidly (supports setting picture numbers from 1-99).
  4. Press the [S/L] button to save and exit.

e. Repeat Timer Plan Interval Shooting Setting:

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to choose the [RE] icon from the LCD screen.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to enter the repeat interval shooting setting for "seconds". Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to adjust "Minute" and "Hour" settings.

  1. Press the number buttons [+] or [-]. If not released, the number will increase or decrease rapidly.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to save and exit.

f. Repeat Plan Times Setting:

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to choose the [N2] icon from the LCD screen.
  2. Press the [S/L] button to enter the repeat time setting (see left picture).
  3. Press the number buttons [+] or [-] to set the number of repetitions (supports repeat plan times from 1-99). If the number display indicates unlimited time, it means unlimited repetitions.
  4. Press the button to save and exit.

B. Query the Timer Shooting Plan

  1. Use the left button [ ] or right button [ ] to query every timer plan or option and parameter. If parameter setting is needed for an option, follow the timer plan parameter indication to set it.

C. Timer Plan Shooting Operation

  1. Turn on the power, then press the time plan button [ ]. The LCD screen will display the timer plan shooting icon [ ].
  2. Press the timer plan shooting button [ ] (see left picture). The transmitter transfers all information to the receiver; the indicator lights of both transmitter and receiver will flicker, indicating timer plan shooting is in progress. The transmitter controls the camera, and its screen displays the timer plan shooting condition.
  3. While in the timer plan state, press the transmitter's timer plan button [ ] again to stop the process for both the transmitter and receiver.
