HLX Control4 Driver Instructions

Audio Authority's Control4 driver simplifies operating any matrix configuration of the HLX system within Control4 Composer. Control4 dealers can follow these instructions.

1. Copy the avswitch_Audio Authority_HLX.c4i file to your documents/Control4/drivers folder.

   Note: If updating an existing HLX driver, first remove the HLX device from the project. Then, re-install the device using the new HLX driver. This process removes all connections, requiring you to re-connect the HLX inputs and outputs.

2. Open Composer. Under 'My Drivers', double-click 'AV Switch', and select 'Audio Authority' as the manufacturer. Then, double-click the HLX driver.

3. The HLX driver supports all possible I/O combinations. Connect the HLX inputs and outputs to sources, amplifiers, and TVs as they are physically connected in your installation. If using Cat 5 zone receivers, connect that zone's outputs to the Cat 5 receiver as it connects to the TV or other equipment in the zone.

4. Control Method Setup:

   1. Serial Control: Connect the serial port of your controller to the HLX's serial port. In Composer, click the 'System Design' tab, then click the HLX. Go to 'Properties', select 'Serial' as the control method, and click 'Set'.

   2. Ethernet Control: In Composer, click the 'System Design' tab, then click the HLX. Go to 'Properties', select 'Ethernet' as the control method, and click 'Set'. Click the 'Connections' tab, then click 'Network' at the top. Double-click the HLX device in the devices window and enter its IP address. The IP address can be found via the network settings option on the HLX's front panel.

About Volume Control and Source Selection

To control volume, connect the AUDIO_VOLUME for the corresponding HLX zone to that room's audio volume and/or video volume endpoints.

For rooms without electronics connections (e.g., rooms with ceiling speakers connected to a multi-zone amplifier), connect the AUDIO_VOLUME and AUDIO_SELECTION endpoints for the corresponding HLX zone to that room's endpoints.
