Geeni Smart Wi-Fi Camera Start Guide

Thank you for purchasing your GEENI smart home product. Get started using your new devices by downloading Geeni, one convenient app that manages everything straight from your phone or tablet. Easily connect to your home Wi-Fi and control multiple devices from the touch of your fingertips.

Get Ready
- Know your Wi-Fi network and password
- Make sure your mobile device is running iOS® 9 or higher or Android™ 5.0 or higher
- Make sure you're connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (Geeni can't connect to 5GHz networks)

1. Download the Geeni app
Download the Geeni app from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Register an account on the Geeni app
STEP 1. Enter your mobile phone number or email address.
STEP 2. Enter the verification code and create a password.
STEP 3. Enter your information to log in.
3. Plug In
Connect the power adapter to the camera. The indicator light will start blinking to confirm that the camera has been reset.
What does the blinking light mean?
- LED indicator light: Solid Red - Starting up
- Blinking Red - Ready to connect
- Solid Green - Connected
How do I reset my device? Hold the reset button (located on the back of the camera) for several seconds until the camera starts to beep. Wait for the indicator light to start blinking to confirm that the camera has been reset.
4. Add device. Method 1: Easy Mode
STEP 1. In the Geeni app, on the top corner of the Devices screen, click (+). Choose "Video Camera".
STEP 2. Make sure the camera's indicator light is blinking red. If it is not, follow the reset instructions on page 5. Once the indicator light blinks red, press "Next Step”.
STEP 3. Enter your Wi-Fi network and password.
STEP 4. The Geeni app will connect to your device. During this time, the camera will beep and the indicator light will continue to blink red before turning solid green.
Note: If the connection fails, try to reset and connect directly using QR Code Mode. Geeni can't connect to 5GHz networks.
5. Add device. Method 2: QR Code Mode
STEP 1. Make sure the camera's indicator light is blinking red. If it is not, follow the reset instructions on page 5.
STEP 2. In the Geeni app, on the top corner of the Devices screen, click (+). Choose "Video Camera". Choose "QR Code” in the top corner.
STEP 3. Click "Next" and enter your Wi-Fi details.
STEP 4. Scan the QR Code with the camera. Point the code to the camera lens for 20cm.
STEP 5. If you heard the camera beep, press "I heard the beep” and the Geeni app will connect to your camera.
Note: Geeni can't connect to 5GHz networks.
6. SD Card Installation
Tilt the lens up either manually or through the app to access the Micro SD Input slot. Installing a Micro SD card (optional) will enable video recording and playback from your phone.
7. Mount the Camera
STEP 1. Use the included 2 screws and 2 wall anchors to mount the mounting plate wherever you'd like to mount the camera.
STEP 2. Rotate the base of the camera on to the mounting plate.
Note: If you unplug the camera, you do not need to repeat the setup steps—the camera will automatically reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
Settings
Access Camera Settings: From your main device list, click on the camera you want to edit, then press “…” button on the top right for advanced settings.
- Device Name: Press to rename your device to something like "Baby's crib” or “Kids' Room”.
- Device Sharing: Let friends, spouse, or family keep an eye on your little treasure. You can decide who gets to check in, access the camera, and receive notifications.
- Remove Device: Delete the camera from your account. Until it's deleted, it will always be linked to your account.
- Indicator Light: By default, the camera lights up to show it's on. Switch "Indicator Light" off to hide the light.
- Flip: If you mount your camera upside down, toggling the "Flip” function will rotate the image so that it's right side up.
- Time Watermark: Turn the time watermark on to always see a time stamp of when video is taking place.
- Motion Detection: When turned on, you'll receive notifications to your phone whenever the camera senses motion. Press to turn Motion Detection off or adjust sensitivity.
- Format SD Card: Press to erase your microSD Card.
Live View
Hear what's happening around the camera.
- Full screen
- Temperature setting (see p.16)
- Activate push notifications to be notified of any movement or sounds (see p.17)
- Hold arrows or swipe screen to rotate camera view
- Press to activate the microphone and speak through the camera
- Save the live camera footage onto your phone memory
- Play back recorded footage (microSD card required)
- Save a screenshot of live video onto your phone memory
Playback
- Hear recorded camera audio
- Full screen
- Save the playback footage onto your phone memory
- Save a screenshot of playback footage onto your phone memory
- Change date of video playback
Temperature Setting
- Select Unit of Measure (°C / °F)
- Set maximum temperature
- Set minimum temperature
Receive notifications if the baby's room becomes too cold or too hot. If temperature is below minimum temperature, you'll be notified it's too cold. If temperature is above maximum temperature, you'll be notified it's too warm.
Alert Setting
- Motion Detection: Receive motion notifications. Select a mode (All day / Schedule). Select the sensitivity (Low / Medium / High).
- Sound Detection Alarm: Receive loud sound notifications. Select the sensitivity (High / Low).
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I share with family and friends? Yes, you can share access to all Geeni devices with family and friends through the "Profile" button and "Device Sharing" in the Geeni app.
- Recording and microSD card usage: Without a Micro SD card, the camera can show live video, save screenshots or videos to your phone, and record motion alerts. Installing a Micro SD card enables video recording and playback from your phone. Video is encrypted and viewable only through the Geeni app.
- How much footage can the camera record? The camera uses about 1GB of storage per day. The oldest footage is automatically replaced by new video when the card fills up.
- How many cameras can I control? The Geeni app can control an unlimited amount of devices. Your router may have a limit on the number of devices connected.
- My camera has a funny name. How do I rename it? In your device list, click the camera, press “…” for advanced settings, and click "Modify Device Name”.
- What should I do if the camera appears offline or unreachable? Ensure your Wi-Fi router is online and in range. Check for firmware updates in your device settings.
- What's the wireless range? The wireless range depends on your home router and room conditions. Check your router specifications for exact range data.
- If my Wi-Fi/Internet goes down, will Geeni still work? Geeni products require a Wi-Fi connection to be used remotely.
Troubleshooting
Cannot connect to your Wi-Fi network: Ensure you entered the correct Wi-Fi password. Check for Internet connection problems. If the Wi-Fi signal is weak, reset your Wi-Fi router and try again.
