Die schönsten Wochen im Jahr ...
For many, the term signifies holidays and summer vacations. Summer, sun, beach – or hiking, cycling, relaxing – or recreation, relaxation, and fun. Finally, it's here, the most beautiful weeks of the year are imminent, have just begun, or have unfortunately already passed. Not so for everyone who waits for the appearance of the annual vacuum tube special issue. The most beautiful weeks of the year only begin when they hold the new vacuum tube special issue in their hands. Now it's finally time.
When a special issue is created, there are initially many unorganized ideas following the motto: Everything is feasible. However, it quickly becomes clear that this is not entirely true. Delivery difficulties for components are the least of the problems. The time factor is the decisive criterion for whether the ideas can actually be realized. It quickly becomes clear that many ideas are simply not feasible within the available time. Therefore, ideas must be postponed and others prioritized. Slowly, a common thread emerges, and the issue takes shape. This issue also contains interesting articles on fundamentals, low-frequency (NF), high-frequency (HF), and measurement technology.
If the statements of the participants are to be believed, the vacuum tube workshops conducted by the publisher also count among the most beautiful weeks of the year. The participant feedback from the vacuum tube workshops held in Frankfurt, Munich, Hanover, Leipzig, Dortmund, and Lucerne provides an occasion to consider further events in 2009. While the past workshops were exclusively theoretical, future ones should be a mix of theory and practice. The well-known lecturers Menno van der Veen and Rainer zur Linde skillfully guide participants through the theoretical part in their usual manner. Following the motto "Measurement is Knowledge," the theory is underpinned and consolidated using demonstration equipment. Each participant can recall and use the acquired knowledge for their own purposes at home. Further details will be available on the Elektor website www.elektor.de in due course.
