Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Gateway: Quick Start and Connection Guide

Step 1: Connecting Your UniFi Cloud Gateway

This section details the initial setup and connection methods for the UniFi Cloud Gateway.

Scenario A: Standard Connection

Description: This setup connects the Internet directly to the UniFi Cloud Gateway, which then provides network access to other devices via its 2.5G ports.

  • Internet Source ?: Your primary internet connection.
  • UniFi Cloud Gateway: The central networking device.
  • Connections:
    • Power (a): Connect the provided power adapter to the device. [power-symbol]
    • Network (b): Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem or router to the gateway's WAN port.
    • 2.5G Ports: The gateway is equipped with 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting downstream devices.

Flow: Internet ? → UniFi Cloud Gateway (powered via 'a') → Network connections via 2.5G ports.

Scenario B: PoE Connection

Description: This setup utilizes Power over Ethernet (PoE) to power the UniFi Cloud Gateway, simplifying cabling.

  • Internet Source ?: Your primary internet connection.
  • UniFi Cloud Gateway: The central networking device, capable of receiving power via PoE.
  • Connections:
    • Power (a): The device receives power through the network cable connected to a PoE-enabled source. [poe-symbol]
    • Network (b): Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or PoE injector to the gateway's WAN port.
    • 2.5G Ports: The gateway features 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting downstream devices.

Step 2: Mobile App Setup
