Safety Information
? DANGER: FLAMMABLE GAS UNDER PRESSURE. LEAKING LP-GAS MAY CAUSE A FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF IGNITED CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. CONTACT LP GAS SUPPLIER FOR REPAIRS, OR DISPOSAL OF THIS CYLINDER OR UNUSED LP-GAS.
⚠️ WARNING: FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY. DO NOT USE OR STORE CYLINDER IN A BUILDING, GARAGE OR ENCLOSED AREA.
⚠️ WARNING:
- Know the odor of LP-gas. If you hear, see or smell leaking LP-gas, immediately get everyone away from the cylinder and call the Fire Department. Do not attempt repairs.
- Caution your LP-gas supplier to: Be certain cylinder is purged of trapped air prior to first filling; be certain not to over fill the cylinder; be certain cylinder requalification date is checked.
- LP-gas is heavier than air and may settle in low places while dissipating.
- Contact with the liquid contents of cylinder will cause freeze burns to the skin.
- Do not allow children to tamper or play with cylinder.
- When not connected for use, keep cylinder valve turned off.
- Self-contained appliances shall be limited to a cylinder of 30 lb capacity or less.
- Do not use, store or transport cylinder where it would be exposed to high temperatures. Relief valve may open allowing a large amount of flammable gas to escape.
- When transporting, keep cylinder secured in an upright position with cylinder valve turned off.
WHEN CONNECTING FOR USE:
- Use only in compliance with applicable codes.
- Read and follow manufacturer's instructions.
- Consult manufacturer's instructions concerning the cylinder connection provided with your appliance.
- Be sure regulator vent is not pointing up.
- Turn off all valves on the appliance.
- Do not check for gas leaks with a match or open flame. Apply soapy water at areas marked “x”. Open cylinder valve. If bubbles appear, close valve and have LP-gas service person make needed repairs. Also, check appliance valves and connections to make sure they do not leak before lighting appliance.
- Light appliance(s) following manufacturer's instructions.
- When appliance is not in use, keep the cylinder valve closed.
Diagram Description (Cylinder Connection): Shows a cylinder valve hand wheel, pressure relief valve, cylinder, point of connection, and optional liquid level indicator. Soapy water should be applied at marked 'x' points on the connections.
⚠️ WARNING: Read and follow all instructions and warnings before installing, operating, or servicing. Improper installation, use, maintenance, adjustment, or storage can cause fire or explosion, resulting in serious injury or property damage.
Prepare for use:
- Keep away from combustible/flammable items. Do not place any fireplace cover or flammable items on or beneath the fire pit.
- Combustible materials should be at least 6 ft from the top and 4 ft from the back/sides of the fire pit.
- Use only on noncombustible floor material.
- Keep the fire pit area clear of combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.
Inspect for leaks, wear and damage:
- Check for gas leaks before use (see Leakage Test instructions).
- Inspect burner and hose for abrasion, wear, or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Inspect hose before each use. Replace if damaged or showing excessive wear. Use only manufacturer-specified replacement hose.
Prepare the area and use the fire pit cover:
- Ensure ventilation openings are clear of debris.
- Do not lay the nylon fire pit cover over the fire pit for at least 4 hours after it is turned OFF and has completely cooled down.
- Do not use the fire pit if any part has been under water. Call a qualified service technician.
- Remove the nylon fire pit cover before operating.
When in use:
- Use propane cylinders with specified dimensions (30.5 cm/12 in. diameter x 45.7 cm/18 in. tall) with a capacity of 9 kg/19.84 lbs.
- Max gas supply: 28 cm/11 in. w.c. (2.74 kpa).
- Only use cylinders marked "propane".
- If you see, smell, or hear escaping gas: Turn off gas supply, get away from cylinder and fire pit, call fire department. Do not attempt repairs.
- Dented or rusty cylinders may be hazardous; have them cleared by your gas supplier.
- Do not disconnect gas regulator or fittings while the fire pit is in operation.
- Use the provided gas pressure regulator.
- Do not use cylinders with damaged valves or worn parts.
- Transport and store empty cylinders carefully and properly.
- Children and adults should be alerted to high surface temperatures to avoid burns or clothes catching fire.
- Young children should be carefully supervised.
- Clothing or other flammable materials should not be hung from or placed on/near the fire pit.
- Propane-gas supply cylinders must be constructed and marked according to U.S. DOT or CAN/CSA standards, and provided with an overfilling prevention device and a compatible connection device.
When storing fire pit:
- Store indoors only if the cylinder is disconnected and removed.
- Cylinders must be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children.
- Disconnected cylinders must have valve plugs tightly installed and not be stored in buildings, garages, or enclosed areas.
- Turn OFF the control knob and close the propane cylinder valve. Disconnect the coupling nut by hand. Loosen the cylinder screw and lift the cylinder out.
- Place the dust cap on the cylinder valve outlet when not in use.
- Any protective device removed for servicing must be replaced before operating.
- Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. Inspect annually.
- Keep control compartment, burners, and air passageways clean.
FOR YOUR SAFETY: Surfaces of the fire pit can remain extremely hot for a period after use. Allow 45 minutes to cool down before touching or moving the fire pit.
