This means they will retain their functionality over time, provided that care instructions are followed and they are subjected to normal domestic use (cutting food, being cleaned once a day, and regular sharpening). How long is the guarantee valid?

The guarantee for IKEA kitchen knives remains in force for fifteen (15) years from the date of purchase. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase date.

What is covered under this guarantee?

This guarantee covers function, materials, and workmanship for the majority of IKEA kitchen knives. For normal domestic use and adherence to care instructions, the knives will retain their functionality even after 15 years. Normal use is defined as using the knife for cutting food, cleaning it by hand once a day, and regular sharpening.

The guarantee covers:

• Sharpness: The knife shall be sharp upon purchase and maintain its sharpness for proper daily function. The blade is made of hardened steel, allowing it to be sharpened to its original sharpness anytime during the guarantee period.
• Durable Handle: Including wooden handles, the knife handle should not crack, break, or come loose from the blade, ensuring continued usability.
• No Corrosion: The knife blade will not corrode.

Products Not Covered & Exclusions

Products not covered under this guarantee:

Knives with the product names FÖRDUBBLA, HACKIG, UPPFYLLD, SKALAD, and SMÅBIT are not covered. This also excludes knives from cutlery sets, steak knives, and knife sharpeners.

What will IKEA do to correct any problem?

IKEA will examine the product and, at its sole discretion, determine if it is covered under this guarantee. If covered, IKEA will replace it with the same or a comparable product. If the item is no longer sold by IKEA, an appropriate replacement will be provided, as determined by IKEA.

What is not covered under this guarantee?

This guarantee does not cover:

• Non-domestic use.
• Changes in appearance unless they significantly affect function.
• Products stored incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered, or cleaned with incorrect methods or products.
• Normal wear and tear, cuts, scratches, or damage from impacts or accidents.
• Products placed outdoors or in humid environments.
• Consequential or incidental damages.

Care Instructions

Before using for the first time

• Wash, rinse, and dry the knife before its first use.

Cleaning

• Knives are best washed by hand. While dishwashers may not render the knife useless, they can damage the edge and cause blade corrosion.
• Wash and dry the knife immediately after use to prevent bacteria spread (e.g., from raw chicken to vegetables).
• To avoid unsightly marks on the blade, dry the knife immediately after washing.

Sharpening and whetting
