LEXIN LX-SMART iLED KIT Installation Guide

Prior to Installation

Before installing the LED accent kit, test it by connecting the power and ground wires to a 12-volt source and an exposed metal engine ground. Ensure all LED strips function correctly. Always check local laws regarding lighting requirements.

Installation Steps

1. Lay out LED strips and plan wire routing, ensuring wires are not pinched or exposed to heat or moving parts.
2. Locate a dry, accessible spot for the control box, as it is not waterproof. Use provided hook-and-loop tape.
3. Clean mounting surfaces thoroughly with an alcohol wipe or similar solution for optimal adhesive bonding. Ideal surface temperature is 45°-85°F.
4. Temporarily position LED strips and route wires loosely to the control box location. Secure wires with zip ties.
5. Secure each strip by removing the 3M adhesive backing and pressing firmly for 15 seconds. Use wire ties at ends for extra security. Allow time for adhesive to cure.
6. Connect all lights and the control box to the wiring harness, using heat shrink tubing for connections. Avoid overheating connections with heat guns.
7. Route the red power wire to a positive 12-volt source and the black ground wire to a suitable ground location. Use 16-18 gauge automotive wire if extending. Connect power supply lines last.
8. Optionally, connect the blue brake activation wire to the positive lead of the brake light for automatic activation when braking.

Additional Notes

• The kit uses a modular locking plug system; do not cut wires, as this voids the warranty.
• LED strips can be cut to size along designated lines; cutting elsewhere voids the warranty.
• Refer to the user guide for operating instructions.
• An optional wired remote control is available for operation without Bluetooth.

Troubleshooting

If the kit or lights do not operate correctly, check the inline fuse, ensure wires are not damaged (cut, pinched, burned), and verify the control box has no water damage. Bluetooth LED Control Software

The LEXIN iLED app is compatible with iOS (version 7.1+) and Android (version 4.3+ with Bluetooth v4.0). Download the app from the Apple Store or Google Play.

Launching the App and Connecting

1. Launch the LEXIN iLED app. Bluetooth will activate automatically or prompt the user.
2. The app will scan for available devices; select 'LX-LED'.
3. If prompted, enter the PIN '0000'.
4. The main screen allows control over colors and operating modes.

Controlling Your Lights

The app offers various control modes:

• Solid Color Selection: Use the color wheel or RGB sliders to pick any color.
• FLASH: Create a strobe effect with adjustable speed, repeats, and delay.
• LOOP: A multi-color strobe effect with adjustable speed, color selection, repeats, and delay.
• FADE: A multi-color fade or breathing effect with adjustable speed, color selection, repeats, and delay.
• On/Off: Toggle lights on or off.
• MUSIC/LED: Sync lights with music via player or microphone.
• MODE: Save up to 9 custom light settings for quick recall and renaming.
• SEARCH: Find other iLED controllers.

New Feature: Brake Light Activation

Connecting the blue wire to the brake light positive lead activates the red LEDs when brakes are applied, enhancing rider safety.

Notes & Specifications

• Music Colors: A chart details RGB settings for various colors used in music-activated modes.
• Optional Wired Remote: A 3-button remote offers control without Bluetooth, with specific operation instructions provided.
• Range: Bluetooth operating range is approximately 100 feet.
• Power Draw: Standby current draw is 2mA. The system shuts off if the battery drops below 10 volts.
• Specifications: Max current draw is 800mA (for 60 LEDs), supports up to 600 LEDs.
