LEXIN LX-B4FM Motorcycle 4-Way Conference Intercom

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the LX-B4FM Motorcycle 4-Way Bluetooth Conference Intercom. This product offers a 1600-meter bike-to-bike full-duplex intercom maximum range and includes Bluetooth stereo wireless helmet headset(s). It is designed for installation into most open face, modular, and full-face style helmets.

With the LX-B4FM, you can make hands-free calls on your Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to stereo music or voice instructions from GPS navigation, and activate wireless Intercom for rider-to-rider or rider-to-passenger conversations within a range of 1600 meters when four units are connected.

The LX-B4FM is compliant with Bluetooth Specification v3.0, supporting Headset Profile (HSP), Hands-Free Profile (HFP), and Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). It supports universal pairing with most Bluetooth headsets. Users can activate Siri or S-Voice for voice dialing and commands. The integrated FM radio tuner allows for station scanning.

Superior audio fidelity is provided by high-fidelity, non-ported, ultra-slim helmet speakers. The headset also offers excellent wind and ambient noise reduction with its miniature boom microphone. The main unit is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion/polymer battery cell, providing 10-15 hours of active use on a full charge, with over a week of standby time. Please read this User Manual carefully before using the product.

How it Works

The LX-B4FM supports multiple communication modes:

3. Installation Instructions

3.1 Helmet Mounting Bracket Installation

3.1.1 Clip Mounting Bracket: Insert the Clip Mounting Bracket between the internal padding and external shell of the helmet. The bracket is designed to clip securely onto the helmet edge.

3.1.2 3M Tape Bracket: If you encounter difficulties with the clip bracket, the 3M tape bracket can be used. Peel off the protective backing sheet of the 3M tape and adhere the bracket onto the helmet. Press firmly for 15 seconds and allow the adhesive to cure for 24 hours.

Note: While the 3M Tape mounting is provided for convenience, LEXIN recommends using the bracket mounting. The 3M Tape mounting is offered as an option at your own risk.

3.2 Microphone Placement

For full-face helmets, locate an area in the nose section, slightly to the left of center, to mount the button microphone. Attach the button microphone to the provided Velcro pad and connect it to the headset connector.

For open-face helmets, adjust the microphone's direction so that the triangular mark on the microphone points towards your mouth.

3.3 Speaker and Wire Placement

Place the speakers into the cheek pads of the helmet, ensuring they are firmly pressed against the Velcro pads. Tuck the wires into the gap between the helmet liner and shell.

Note: The speaker with the shorter wire is for the left ear, and the speaker with the longer wire is for the right ear. This arrangement can also help enhance FM radio reception.

3.5 Main Unit Mounting

Mount the LX-B4FM main unit onto the bracket. Slide the main unit down onto the bracket until it clicks firmly into the bottom portion.

3.6 Main Unit Removal

To remove the main unit from the bracket, push it upwards.

4. General Operation Instructions

4A. Powering On/Off and Charging

4B. Pairing the LX-B4FM with a Bluetooth Device

Pairing is required the first time you connect the LX-B4FM headset to a Bluetooth device. It can be paired with mobile phones, audio devices (MP3, GPS), and other LEXIN Bluetooth headsets. Once paired, the headset will automatically reconnect to devices within range.

5. Controls and Functions

5.1 Volume and Music Control

Adjust volume using the [Volume +] and [Volume -] buttons. A beep indicates maximum or minimum volume levels.

Press the [Power Button] to play or pause music.

While playing music, press and hold the [Volume -] button to skip to the next track, and press and hold the [Volume +] button to go to the previous track.

Note: When streaming music from a smartphone, you may need to adjust the smartphone's volume as well for louder output.

5.2 Safe Mobile Phone Calls - Incoming and Outgoing

Note: In environments with high-power RF radio interference or metal obstructions, the headset may disconnect from the mobile phone. Short-press the [Power Button] to reconnect.

5.3 Bluetooth Intercom Talk

The LX-B4FM supports full-duplex Bluetooth intercom talk for up to four units. Pairing procedures differ for 2, 3, and 4-unit configurations.

Note: Before riding, it is recommended to clear existing connections by pressing and holding the [Volume +] and [Volume -] buttons simultaneously until the red LED flashes.

1) Pairing two LX-B4FM headsets to talk

2) Pairing three LX-B4FM headsets to talk

Tip: Mark units with different numbers and colors (red/blue) for clarity.

Important Note: A Bridge unit cannot be connected to a Bluetooth device (phone or GPS) while functioning as an Intercom Bridge.

3) Pairing four LX-B4FM headsets to talk

Tip: Mark units with different numbers and colors (red/blue) for clarity.

Tips: To connect Bridge units, double-click the [Intercom Button]. To connect a Bridge unit with an End unit, press the [Intercom Button] once on the end unit.

Note: A beep sound indicates the start of an intercom talk; connection may take a few seconds. If bridge units disconnect, the group disconnects. If an end unit disconnects, the other three remain connected. If a unit loses connection, reconnect it when back in range. If a rider goes out of range, the LX-B4FM will attempt reconnection every eight seconds (indicated by high-tone double beeps). Press the [Intercom Button] to stop reconnection attempts.

For four riders, it's suggested to pair bridge units (red) first using [Intercom Button] and [Volume - Button], then connect them to end units (blue) paired with [Intercom Button] and [Volume + Button]. Keep bridge units (two and three) within intercom range for continuous communication.

Tips: Disconnect intercom units when not in use to save battery.

Important: The Bridge unit cannot connect to a Bluetooth device (phone or GPS) while acting as an Intercom Bridge.

5.4 Universal Pairing

Pairing with other brand intercom headsets follows the same procedure as two-way intercom pairing. To initiate intercom talk with a different brand, press both [Volume +] and [Volume -] buttons simultaneously. To end the intercom, press the [Power Button].

5.5 Stereo Music and FM Radio

Listen to stereo music via Bluetooth or FM radio.

5.6 Function Priority

The LX-B4FM prioritizes functions in the following order:

  1. Mobile phone (highest)
  2. Intercom
  3. Bluetooth stereo music, FM radio (lowest)

Lower-priority functions are interrupted by higher-priority ones (e.g., music by intercom, intercom by incoming calls).

5.7 Reset

To clear previous pairings, press [Volume +] and [Volume -] buttons simultaneously until the LED flashes red.

5.8 Battery Life Prompt

Check current battery life by holding the [Volume + Button]. A voice will announce the charge level. A beep alert every 5 minutes indicates a battery level below 20%.

6. Maintenance and Care

Treat the LX-B4FM with care to maintain warranty. Avoid dusty or dirty environments, high heat, and extreme cold. Do not attempt to open the unit, drop, or knock it. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or detergents. Do not paint the device.

These suggestions apply to the headset main unit, speaker-microphone clamp unit, and power charger.
