Device Structure and Principle of Operation
The unit consists of a working module (1) and an outer casing with a protective cap (2). The working module contains fans, heat exchangers, heaters, and the control system. Each unit has two air channels, each with a fan and heat exchanger, allowing air to move towards the room or outside. The room-side outlets are located on opposite sides of the indoor unit. The air channels are equipped with rotary dampers (4) and coarse air filters. The front panel (3) features a display showing current operating parameters. The protective ventilation cap (5) on the outer casing distributes exhaust and supply air and prevents water and debris ingress. A condensate drain hole (6) is located at the bottom of the cap.
Operating Modes:
- Exhaust Only: Both channels extract air from the room.
- Supply Only: Both channels supply air into the room.
- Ventilation: Air moves continuously in opposite directions through the channels.
- Ventilation with Heat Recovery: Air moves in opposite directions, with the direction in each channel cyclically reversing. During the first part of the cycle, moist, stale room air passes through a ceramic heat exchanger, heating and humidifying it. During the second part, fresh cold outdoor air passes through the heat exchanger, being pre-heated by the recovered heat. The channels operate in coordination, with one supplying air while the other exhausts it, ensuring synchronized room ventilation.
Models with L055, L07, L1 designations include an extended air duct assembly. These models can be shortened before installation to match the wall thickness. The diagram shows the arrangement of the working module and extension duct parts within the casing: 1 – working module; 2 – extension duct assembly with first centering sleeve; 3 – second centering sleeve; 4 – outer casing.
Installation and Preparation
General Requirements:
- Read the user manual and any manuals for additional external devices before installation.
- In buildings with significant wind loads, passive ventilation, fireplaces, or existing ventilation systems, imbalances in airflow may occur, leading to drafts and temperature drops. Consult specialists to prevent such issues.
- Do not block air ducts with materials that accumulate dust, such as curtains or drapes, as this will disrupt air circulation.
Optimal Placement:
- The unit is mounted in an external wall, with the indoor unit in the living space and the outdoor casing with air outlets and condensate drain on the exterior.
- For proper operation, incoming air must mix evenly with room air and not be drawn directly into the exhaust channel.
- Ensure unobstructed airflow around the indoor unit. Avoid placing furniture, curtains, or other interior elements too close to it, as this can create short-circuiting of airflow and reduce ventilation effectiveness.
- Maintain minimum distances from the unit to the ceiling, corners, floor, and windows (diagrams indicate minimum 300mm clearances, and 1500mm from the floor).
- Position the unit as far as possible from heat sources (radiators, electric stoves) and devices that use air for combustion (fireplaces, gas stoves).
- For effective use with air conditioners, position the Freshpoint Eco unit at the same height as the air conditioner, as cool air from the AC tends to descend.
Installation Considerations:
- When choosing a location in bedrooms or living areas, consider that the unit may be a source of noise. Incoming air may be cooler than room air in winter, potentially causing drafts. Position the unit away from beds and seating areas.
- Do not install the unit in humid rooms (bathrooms, restrooms, greenhouses). Use only exhaust ventilation in such areas.
- Pressure differences between the room and the outside during exhaust ventilation operation can disrupt the unit's function, causing drafts, reduced room temperature, and icing in winter.
Troubleshooting Installation Issues:
External Manifestation | Possible Cause | Method of Elimination |
---|---|---|
Condensation on the wall in the room; Icing in the unit casing during cold weather; Short circuit of the power supply. | Unit casing installed horizontally or tilted towards the room; Outer casing installed with condensate drain hole oriented incorrectly; Power supply short circuit. | Install the unit with a slight tilt towards the outside; Ensure the outer casing's condensate drain hole is oriented downwards; Check and correct the power supply connection. |
Low or no airflow; Overheating and motor failure; No heat recovery effect during ventilation. | Low fan speed setting; Clogged filters, fan, or heat exchanger; Clogged impeller; Loose screw connections of the unit casing or outer casing. | Set a higher fan speed; Clean or replace filters, clean the fan; Clean the impeller; Tighten screw connections. |
Air leakage between the unit casing and the wall; Wall icing. | Incomplete sealing between the outer casing and the wall. | Ensure proper sealing between the outer casing and the wall. |
Malfunction of the unit's control system; Short circuit of the power supply. | Interference with the electrical circuit; Short circuit of the power supply. | Consult a qualified specialist; Check and correct the power supply connection. |
Matching Unit Length to Wall Thickness:
For correct installation, the ventilation cap should be positioned with at least 40 mm clearance from the wall, and the condensate drain hole must be oriented downwards.
If external access to the installation site is available, compensation rings or a metal cuff (purchased separately) can be used for wall thickness adjustment.
Diagrams show optional accessories: CPSO-40, CPSO-80, CPSO-120, CPSO-160, CPSO-200 compensation rings, and a metal cuff (MP(S)).
For optimal length matching without external access, models Freshpoint Eco 160(-E) L055/07/1 can be shortened. The procedure involves measuring wall thickness, calculating the required length, shortening the outer casing and extension duct, and reassembling with a centering sleeve.
A table provides compatible wall thicknesses for various models and accessories, including options for shortening.
Installation Steps:
- Prepare a through hole in the external wall: a round opening of 172 mm diameter, sloped downwards towards the street.
- Separate the outer casing from the working module. Warning: Do not connect to power while separated.
- Apply sealant to the duct at distance A (wall thickness) from the inner edge of the duct. For UV protection, apply aluminum tape to the sealant. Insert the duct into the wall opening so its end is flush with the inner wall surface. Ensure the air intake grille and condensate drain opening are not blocked. Use mounting wedges (3) and foam to secure the duct and ensure proper slope. Warning: Do not deform the duct with mounting wedges or foam.
- Remove the lower panel (1) by pulling it outwards, then remove the upper panel (2) from the working module by unscrewing the relevant screws.
- Attach the mounting template to the wall, align it using a spirit level, mark and drill holes for wall anchors, and drill to the required depth. Mark the power cable entry point (1) and route the power cable.
- Install the working module into the duct. Secure the indoor unit with screws.
- Install the decorative panels.
- Before powering on, open the air intakes. Warning: Continuous operation with closed air intakes can damage the unit.
