Safety Information - Read Before Ride
Proper installation requires specific tools and experience. It is recommended that the product be installed by a qualified bicycle technician.
- Read the service instructions of your crank carefully before installing parts. Loose, worn, or damaged parts can cause riding problems and serious injury.
- Incorrect installation or adjustments may cause the chain to come off, leading to falls and potential injury. Read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
- Ensure your frame shell is clean (for BB30 frames, remove c-clips/bearings so the frame shell is empty).
- Before riding, check for any play or looseness in the bottom bracket connection. Retighten crank arms and pedals periodically.
- If you feel looseness or 'play' in the bearings, the bottom bracket should be inspected or replaced.
- Always read the instructions for your front chainrings/crank in conjunction with these service instructions.
- Do not wash the bottom bracket with high-pressure jets of water.
- For maximum performance, remove, periodically inspect, and clean your Praxis Works bottom bracket.
- Parts are not guaranteed against natural wear and tear resulting from normal use.
- For questions regarding installation, adjustment, maintenance, or operation, contact a professional bicycle dealer or call Praxis Works.

BB Cup Preparation
Non-Drive/Left Cup Preparation
- Ensure the Width Tolerance O-ring is on the Left/Non-Drive Cup. This accommodates frame BB width variances.
- For BB30: Remove the PF Sleeve (not used with BB30). Apply a thin coating of anti-seize to both ends of the BB cup contact surfaces and the threads.
- For PF30: Slide the PF Sleeve on. Grease both ends of the PF Sleeve contact surfaces, then apply anti-seize to the inner threads.
Visual Description: Diagrams illustrate the BB30 setup (42mm diameter) and PF30 setup (46mm diameter), showing the placement of the Width Tolerance O-ring, anti-seize, and the PF Sleeve.
Drive/Right Cup Preparation
- Slide the Black Plastic Sleeve and then the Orange Rubber Collet onto the cup. This is critical for your BB's function.
- Apply a thin coating of anti-seize to the Right/Drive cup threads.
- Apply a thin coating of grease to the outside of the Orange Rubber Collet and Black Plastic Sleeve.

Bottom Bracket Installation
Step 1: Press Left/Non-Drive Cup
With a press tool ?️, GENTLY press the Left/Non-Drive cup into the frame's Left/Non-Drive side until the Width Tolerance O-ring just BARELY touches the side of the frame. DO NOT COMPRESS WIDTH-TOLERANCE O-RING. ❌
Visual Description: A diagram shows the bearing press tool installing the left cup into a bicycle frame's bottom bracket shell. An arrow points to the O-ring with a warning not to compress it.
Step 2: Thread Right/Drive Cup
Start threading the Right/Drive Cup in CLOCKWISE ➡️ with your M30 BB tool. As it threads in, you will feel friction build as the Orange Rubber Collet expands inside the frame. THIS IS NORMAL ✔️. You will need your second BB tool for the next step.
Visual Description: A diagram shows the right cup being threaded into the frame. Another diagram shows anti-seize applied to the threads.
Step 3: Tighten Right/Drive Cup
TURN Right/Drive Cup UNTIL IT STOPS. ? With the second BB tool, hold the Left/Non-Drive Cup in place while you tighten the Drive cup fully. The second tool provides leverage to feel when the Drive cup bottoms out on the Non-Drive cup. The Drive Cup has a machined stop and MUST be tightened until it bottoms out on the Non-Drive cup to precisely set/stop the Collet expansion.
Visual Description: A diagram shows two M30 BB tools being used simultaneously to tighten the right cup while holding the left cup.
Step 4: Install Dust Covers
See the next page for correct Dust Covers for your crank. Lightly grease the underside of the Dust Covers and place them over the bearings with Praxis logos facing outward. ➡️ Now you can install the crank.
BB Dust Cover Setup
Only 1 cover per side is used.
