Fujitsu Halcyon Mini-Split Systems
Energy-Efficient Heating and Cooling for Residential and Light Commercial Applications
Revolutionizing Comfort: Energy-Efficient Home Climate Control
Fujitsu Halcyon mini-split systems offer advanced, energy-efficient heating and cooling solutions designed for year-round comfort. These ductless systems provide flexible zoning, quiet operation, and significant energy savings, making them an ideal choice for modern homes and businesses.
What is a Mini-Split System?
Mini-split systems, also known as ductless heat pumps, eliminate the need for bulky ductwork. They use thin copper tubing to circulate refrigerant directly to discreet indoor units, which can be mounted on walls, in ceilings, or near the floor. This design allows for efficient heating and cooling, transferring heat from the outside air indoors during cold seasons and vice versa during warm seasons.
Key Benefits:
- Ductless design eliminates energy loss associated with traditional duct systems (up to 30%).
- Individual zoning for personalized comfort in each room.
- High energy efficiency, leading to lower utility bills (up to 30% savings).
- Quiet operation, with indoor units as low as 21 dB(A).
- Inverter technology for precise temperature control and efficiency.
- Year-round heating and cooling capabilities.
How Mini-Splits Work: Heat Pump Technology
Like refrigerators, heat pumps use electricity to transfer heat. In cooling mode, they move heat from inside the home to the outside. In heating mode, they extract heat from the outside air (even in cold temperatures) and transfer it indoors. This process is more efficient than generating heat directly (like electric baseboard heaters), allowing heat pumps to deliver up to four times the heat for the energy consumed.
Basic Heat Pump Configuration: Heat is absorbed from the outdoor environment by the refrigerant in the evaporator, compressed, and then released as heat indoors via the condenser.
Basic Air Conditioner Configuration: The process is reversed; heat is absorbed from indoors and expelled outdoors.
Efficiency Note: Heat pumps are more efficient than electric heaters because they move heat rather than create it. An efficient heat pump can be up to three times more efficient than an electric heater.
Individual Zoning for Personalized Comfort
Fujitsu's multi-zone systems allow one outdoor unit to connect to multiple indoor units (up to 5), each operating independently. This provides customized comfort for every room, allowing users to set different temperatures and operating modes.
Indoor Unit Styles:
- Wall Mount: Mount high on a wall, discreet and require no ductwork.
- Slim Duct: Concealed above ceilings or within walls, with only grilles visible. Requires minimal ductwork.
- Floor Mount: Ideal for replacing radiators or in rooms with limited wall space, fitting easily under windows.
- Compact Cassette: Discreetly installed in ceilings, with only the grille showing. Distributes air evenly.
- Large Cassette: Offers 360-degree airflow for even distribution in larger spaces.
- Medium Static Ducted: Designed for ducted applications, offering flexibility in installation and capable of handling whole-house heating/cooling.
- Universal Floor/Ceiling: Versatile mounting options for walls or ceilings.
Energy Efficiency & Savings
Heating and cooling account for a significant portion of home energy use. Fujitsu Halcyon systems are designed for high energy efficiency, with SEER ratings up to 33.1 and HSPF ratings up to 14.2. ENERGY STAR® qualified models further enhance savings, potentially reducing utility bills by up to 30%.
Where Your Money Goes: Heating & Cooling typically accounts for 50% of home energy consumption.
Rebates: Many utility companies offer rebates for purchasing energy-efficient ductless mini-split systems. Check Fujitsu's website for local rebate information.
Comfort, Convenience, and Advanced Technology
Inverter Technology: Acts like cruise control for your HVAC system, adjusting compressor speed to match demand, leading to more stable temperatures, quicker comfort, and increased efficiency.
Extra Low Temperature Heating (XLTH): Select models are engineered to operate in extreme cold, providing 100% of rated heating capacity down to -15°F (-26°C).
FGLair® App: Control your system remotely from any smartphone or tablet, allowing for temperature adjustments, mode changes, scheduling, and more.
Voice Control: Compatible with Amazon Echo and Google Home for hands-free operation.
Quiet Operation: Indoor units can operate as low as 21 dB(A), comparable to a whisper quiet library.
