Before proceeding, please download and print these instructions to ensure a smooth and correct installation process. Following the steps in the described order is crucial for a successful firmware update.
For any questions or assistance, the Pioneer Technical Support team is available via their website at Pioneer Australia Contact Us, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (excluding holidays).
What You Need for the Update:
- Your Pioneer In-Dash AV receiver (SPH-DA77DAB or DMH-A5650BT).
- A USB storage device with at least 2 GB capacity, formatted to FAT32, and blank (containing no other files).
Important Precautions:
- DO NOT turn off your unit or eject the USB storage device while the firmware is updating.
- Ensure the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is engaged before starting the update.
Checking Your Current Firmware Version:
To determine if an update is needed, you can check your unit's current firmware version (SOC). Follow the on-screen prompts by navigating through the receiver's menu: touch 'Settings', then 'System Settings', and finally 'System Information'. The SOC version will be displayed there.
Downloading the Firmware:
Firmware files can be downloaded from the official Pioneer website. Visit Pioneer Australia Firmware Software to find and download the correct update files for your specific model. After downloading, extract the contents of the zip file, which will typically include files like CUST_PIO.BIN and CUST_PIO.md5.
Updating the Firmware:
- Connect the prepared USB storage device to your computer and copy the extracted update files (CUST_PIO.BIN and CUST_PIO.md5) to the root folder of the USB drive.
- Connect the USB storage device to your Pioneer AV receiver's USB port.
- Navigate to 'Firmware Update' within the receiver's system settings menu.
- Select 'Update' when prompted. The unit will display the progress and confirm when the update is successfully completed.
- Once the update is finished, the unit will reboot. Your Pioneer AV Receiver will then be ready for use with the new firmware.
