Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX System Firmware Update Instructions

This document provides instructions for updating the system firmware for Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX In-Dash AV Receivers sold in the United States and Canada.

IMPORTANT: Please download and print these instructions before proceeding. Ensure all steps are followed correctly and in order.

Required Items:

• Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX In-Dash AV Receiver.
• USB storage device with the following specifications:
  • Capacity: 512 MB or larger.
  • Format: FAT32 or NTFS.
  • Content: Must be blank (no existing files).

Installation typically takes 5-10 minutes, depending on the USB device speed.

CAUTION:

• DO NOT turn off the unit or eject the USB storage device during the update.
• Interruption of power can cause irreversible damage to the unit.
• The vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake engaged to perform the update.

WARNING:

If your vehicle requires the engine to run for continuous battery power, ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe, well-ventilated area (e.g., outdoor parking lot) before starting the update. NEVER run your vehicle's engine in an enclosed space due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Checking the Firmware Version:

Verify if your unit requires a firmware update by checking the current version number.

Procedure:

1. From the Home Screen, swipe left to access the Source list page.
2. Select the 'Settings' icon.
3. Scroll down and touch '[System Information]'.
4. Touch '[Firmware Information]'.
5. On the 'Firmware Information' screen, check the firmware version number and model name.

Downloading Firmware Update Files:

1. Download the firmware update files from the Pioneer website: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Support/Downloads. Navigate to find your product.
2. Extract the downloaded zip file. The decompressed file should be named 'DMH-WT3800NEX.avh'.

Updating the Firmware on Your Unit:

IMPORTANT:

• This update is only for the DMH-WT3800NEX model.
• Ensure the update file is in the root folder of the USB storage device, with no other files present.
• DO NOT turn off the system power or touch the touchscreen during the update to prevent damage.
• DO NOT remove the USB storage device during the update.
• Performing the update will reset all settings to their default values.
• Disconnect any connected external mobile devices.

Procedure:

1. Connect a blank USB storage device to your computer. Copy the correct update file (DMH-WT3800NEX.avh) to the USB device's root folder.
2. Connect the USB storage device to the unit's USB port.
3. Set the audio source to 'OFF' on your unit.
4. Swipe left on the Home Screen to access the Source list page.
5. Select the 'Settings' icon.
6. Scroll down and touch '[System Information]'.
7. Touch '[Firmware Update]'. The 'Firmware Update' screen will appear.
8. Touch '[USB]'.
9. Touch '[Continue]' to enter the data transfer mode. A 'Reading... Please wait.' message will be displayed.
10. Read the 'WARNING' message and touch the '[Start]' button. If an 'ERROR' message appears, try a different USB device.
11. The update process will begin, showing the progress.
12. When the update is complete, the display will show 'It succeeded... OK to disconnect USB memory.' Disconnect the USB storage device.
13. The product will reboot automatically. Do not interact with the unit during the reboot process. The screen will return to the menu once rebooting is finished.
14. The firmware update is now complete.

Confirming the Firmware Update:

Follow the same steps as 'Checking the Firmware Version' to confirm the update was successful.
