Quick Start Guide
Meet Your Motion Sensor
The Motion Sensor detects movement in a certain area and triggers different actions in response. This makes your home safer and smarter.
Components: Sensor Detector, LED indicator, Cover, Reset Button, Mounting Stand, Battery Compartment.
Before You Start
A Tapo Hub is required. Ensure your Tapo Hub is successfully added via the Tapo app.
Setup Guide
1. Power Up Your Sensor
Remove the battery insulation tab to power up your sensor. The LED indicator should blink. If the LED is not blinking, refer to reset instructions.
2. Set Up Your Sensor
Open the Tapo app. Tap the '+' button, select 'Sensors', then your model. Follow the app instructions to complete setup.
3. Test Your Sensor
Take your sensor to the preferred location and wave your hand in front of it to test. The Tapo app should indicate if the sensor is triggered.
4. Place Your Sensor
Choose one of the following mounting options:
- Option 1: Magnetically attach to metallic objects.
- Option 2: Stick to a clean wall using the included adhesive.
- Option 3: Place it on a shelf or table.
Detection Area
Align the sensor with the detection area. Place it as close as possible to the edge of a table or cabinet. The installation height should not exceed 2 meters (approx. 6.5 feet).
The sensor has a detection angle of 120 degrees and a range of up to 7 meters (approx. 23 feet).
How to Replace the Battery
The sensor uses a CR2450 battery.
Option 1: With a Shim
- Insert a shim into the gap between the cover and the sensor body.
- Gently pry open the cover.
- Remove the old battery and insert the new CR2450 battery, observing polarity (+).
- Replace the cover.
Option 2: By Hand
- Gently press the cover and slide it off.
- Remove the old battery and insert the new CR2450 battery, observing polarity (+).
- Slide the cover back on until it clicks into place.
How to Reset Your Sensor
Use a pin to press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds until the front LED starts blinking.

- If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.
- Seek immediate medical attention if batteries are suspected to have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body.
- Caution: Avoid replacing the battery with an incorrect type. Avoid disposal of batteries in fire or hot ovens, or mechanical crushing/cutting, as this can result in an explosion. Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures or low air pressure.
