Tapo Smart Contact Sensor Quick Start Guide
Know when doors/windows are opened or closed. Receive instant alerts via the Tapo app.
Before You Start
A Tapo Hub is required. Ensure your Tapo Hub is successfully added via the Tapo app.

Setup Instructions
1. Power Up Your Sensor
Remove the battery insulation tab to power up your sensor. The LED should begin to blink.
Note: If the LED is not blinking, refer to the reset instructions.
2. Set Up Your Sensor
Open the Tapo app, tap the '+' button within the app, and select your sensor model. Follow the app instructions to complete the setup.
3. Test Your Sensor
a. Open and close the sensor to test its functionality in your desired location.
b. Check the Event Log on the Tapo app to confirm the open/closed status updates.
4. Mount Your Sensor
a. Apply the included adhesives to the sensor and the magnet.
b. Choose the installation location. Place the magnet on the edge of the door or window that moves. The installation height should not exceed 6.56 ft (2 m).
c. Align the magnet and sensor. Ensure there is no more than 0.59 inches (15 mm) gap between them when the door or window is closed. Maintain at least 0.39 inches (10 mm) space to allow for battery compartment access.
d. Peel the backing from the adhesives and press the sensor and magnet firmly into place.
How to Reset Your Sensor to Enter Pairing Mode
a. Slide to remove the cover of your sensor.
b. Use a pin or similar pointed object to press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds until the front LED starts blinking.
How to Replace the Battery
a. Remove the sensor cover. Use a screwdriver to open the battery cover.
b. Replace the battery with a fresh CR2032 cell, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).

- Remove and immediately recycle or dispose of used batteries according to local regulations and keep them away from children. Do NOT dispose of batteries in household trash or incinerate.
- Even used batteries may cause severe injury or death.
- Call a local poison control center for treatment information.
- This product uses button/coin cell batteries of type CR2032.
- The nominal voltage is +3V.
- Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
- Do not force discharge, recharge, disassemble, heat above 60°C/140°F, or incinerate batteries. Doing so may result in injury due to venting, leakage, or explosion, leading to chemical burns.
- Ensure batteries are installed correctly according to polarity (+ and -).
- Do not mix old and new batteries, or different brands or types of batteries (e.g., alkaline, carbon-zinc, rechargeable).
- Remove batteries from equipment not used for extended periods.
- Always secure the battery compartment completely. If it does not close securely, stop using the product, remove batteries, and keep them away from children.
General Safety:
- Keep the device away from water, fire, humidity, or hot environments.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device. Contact TP-Link for service.
- Do not use the device where wireless devices are not allowed.
