- Wash any removable parts as instructed in the CARE AND CLEANING section.
- Clean the inside of your coffee maker by running two full brewing cycles with water only (no coffee).
- Pour fresh, cold water into the water reservoir up to the 10-cup mark. Then, place the carafe on the carafe plate.
- Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
- Push the BREW (“COLAR”) button to immediately flush water through the coffee maker.
- Once the cycle is finished, discard the water.
- Turn off the appliance, unplug it, and let it cool for 15 minutes before repeating the process.
Programming Your Coffee Maker
Setting the Digital Clock
- Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
- The numbers and colon on the digital clock display will flash "12:00."
- Press the HR and MIN buttons until the correct time is shown on the display. The colon will continue to flash even after the time is set.
- In the afternoon, “PM” will illuminate on the display. If “PM” is not illuminated on the display, the time is set to AM.
- To change the time after it has been set, press either the HR or MIN button once to enter the time-setting mode and follow the steps above.
If the appliance is unplugged or power is interrupted even momentarily, the time may need to be reset.
Brewing Hot Coffee
- Open the cover. Fill the water reservoir with your desired amount of water. The "12" line on the side of the reservoir represents a full carafe of coffee; do not fill past this line.
Use spring water or filtered water. Distilled water lacks the minerals necessary to bind to elements of coffee. Filtered water will limit impurities and excessive minerals that can detrimentally impact coffee flavor and machine performance.
- Insert a basket-type paper filter into the brew basket.
- Add your desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. Close the lid, ensuring that it clicks into place.
- Ensure that the carafe lid is properly attached to the empty carafe. Close the carafe lid.
Coffee may overflow if the carafe lid is not placed properly.
- Place the empty carafe on the carafe plate.
- If the coffee maker is not already plugged in, plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
- If you want to brew strong coffee, press the ROBUSTO (“STRONG”) button once. The light next to ROBUSTO (“STRONG") on the display will illuminate. To brew regular-strength coffee again, press the ROBUSTO (“STRONG”) button again to darken the ROBUSTO (“STRONG”) indicator on the display.
We recommend using the ROBUSTO (“STRONG”) setting to ensure the best flavor whenever brewing 4 cups of coffee or fewer.
- Press the COLAR (“BREW") button to begin brewing coffee. The light on the COLAR ("BREW") button will illuminate once pressed. You can cancel the brewing process at any time by pressing the COLAR ("BREW") button again.
- The coffee maker will keep coffee hot for 4 hours before turning off automatically. The light on the COLAR (“BREW") button will remain illuminated while the coffee maker is keeping your coffee warm.
- Once the coffee grounds have cooled, carefully open the lid and discard the grounds. Afterward, close the lid.
SNEAK-A-CUP Feature
If you remove the carafe during the brewing process, the brewing process will pause. Return the carafe to the coffee maker within 30 seconds to prevent overflow. When the carafe is returned to the coffee maker, brewing will resume.
Brew Later Function
If BREW LATER function has not been previously set:
- After the appliance's digital clock has been set (see the SETTING THE DIGITAL CLOCK section), press the BREW LATER (“COLAR DESPUÉS”) button. The light next to BREW LATER (“COLAR DESPUÉS” on the display will illuminate and flash once per second.
- The clock on the display will show the previous BREW LATER time that was programmed. If a BREW LATER time has never been set on the appliance or the appliance has been unplugged since the last time the BREW LATER time was set, the BREW LATER time defaults to 12:00 am.
- While the BREW LATER time on the display is blinking, use the HR and MIN buttons to program the BREW LATER time.
- Press the BREW LATER button again to confirm the BREW LATER time. The time will also be confirmed if no buttons are pressed for 4 seconds.
- The coffee maker will begin brewing coffee at the programmed BREW LATER time.
If BREW LATER function is already set:
- Press BREW LATER button to check the BREW LATER time. The clock will flash once per second and display the BREW LATER time for 4 seconds. At this point, you may reset the BREW LATER setting if desired.
- You can press the BREW LATER button to check the programmed BREW LATER time. The clock will flash once per second and display the programmed BREW LATER time for 4 seconds. While the clock is flashing, you can use the HR and MIN buttons to adjust the BREW LATER time.
- To cancel the BREW LATER function, press and hold the BREW LATER button for 3 seconds.
- After pressing no buttons for 4 seconds, the clock will revert to the current time.
Even though BREW LATER is disabled, the BREW LATER time will still be stored unless the coffee maker is unplugged.
Brewing Iced Coffee
- Open the lid.
- Fill the water reservoir. Refer to the table below for the recommended amount of water for your desired number of servings.
Do not fill the water reservoir above the "6 MAX ICED" (“CAFÉ CON HIELO”) level.
Filtered water will limit impurities and excessive minerals that can detrimentally impact coffee flavor and machine performance.
- Insert a basket-type paper filter into the brew basket.
- Add your desired amount of pre-ground coffee to the basket. Refer to the table below for the recommended amount of ground coffee. Close lid, making sure it clicks.
- Make sure the carafe lid is properly attached to the empty carafe.
Coffee may overflow if the carafe lid is not properly placed.

Cleaning
- Be sure the coffee maker is unplugged and has cooled.
- Wash the removable parts in the top rack of the dishwasher or wash by hand in hot water with dish detergent.
- Wipe the appliance's exterior surface, control panel, and carafe plate with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Never immerse the coffee maker in water.
- To clean the inside of the lid, open the lid and leave in the open position. Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth.
AUTO CLEAN™ System
Descaling with the Auto Clean™ function
Over time, calcium deposits or "scale" may build up in your brewer. Scale is non-toxic, but if left unattended, it will hinder brewer performance and cause premature failure. Regularly descaling your brewer helps to maintain coffee quality as well as the lifespan of the heating element and other internal parts that come in contact with water throughout the brew process.
To make the descaling process as effortless as possible, an Auto Clean™ system has been programmed into your coffee maker.
When should I use the Auto Clean™ function?
You should clean your coffee maker after every 60 brews (approximately 2 months). This machine will also display the clean warning if it detects scale build-up even if 60 cycles have not elapsed. After 60 brews, the clean warning will be activated and display at the beginning of each brew cycle. "CLEAN” will scroll across the display three times to remind you to clean the coffee maker. If you would like to clean your coffee maker prior to 60 brew cycles because of hard water, you may do so.
How do I use the Auto Clean™ function?
Follow the simple steps below. Your coffee maker will take care of the rest.
- Combine 6 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of cold water in the carafe.
- Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
- Make sure the lid of the carafe is in place and place the empty carafe on the carafe plate.
- Press and hold the BREW button for 4 seconds.
- The light on the BREW button will illuminate.
- "CLEAN” will scroll across the display during the Auto Clean cycle.
During the Auto Clean™ Cycle Function:
- The coffee maker will brew approximately 5 cups of cleaning solution. Any remaining solution will be held in the coffee maker for 30 minutes before being brewed.
- The coffee maker will continue brewing the rest of the solution.
- When the coffee maker completes the Auto Clean™ cycle (45-60 minutes), the appliance will shut off automatically.
- Before using the coffee maker to brew coffee again, flush water through through the coffee maker (see the GETTING STARTED section).
