Alcolizer HH3 Alcohol Tester Quick User Guides

Passive Testing

It is recommended the subject not consume food, drink or smoke 15 minutes prior to taking a test. ⚠

  1. Step 1: Initialization

    Device State: Screen displays 'Start'.

Action: Press the [Test Key] to turn the HH3 Alcohol Tester on. Ensure the test type is set to Passive Testing (no mouthpiece). A 'Start Passive Test' message will display.

  2. Step 2: Ready for Test

    Device State: Screen displays 'Ready'.

Action: Press the [Test Key]. The screen will display 'Please Wait' then 'Ready for passive Test'.

  3. Step 3: Subject Interaction

Device State: N/A (focus on user action).

Action: Hold the instrument 50mm in front of the subject's mouth so that the subject is breathing or talking directly into the device's [Inlet]. Instruct the subject to count from 20 onwards until you tell them to stop. Whilst they are counting, press the [Test Key]. You will hear 3 clicks. Tell the subject to stop counting after the 3rd click.

  4. Step 4: Result Interpretation

Device State: Screen displays text result (e.g., 'Pass No Alcohol' or 'Warning Alcohol Present').

Action: The device will analyse, emit a long beep, and then display a text-based result. A screen with text 'Pass No Alcohol' indicates that alcohol is not present. A screen with text 'Warning Alcohol Present' indicates that alcohol is detected. In the latter instance, change the test type to mouthpiece testing to gauge the subject's BrAC level.

Active Testing

It is recommended the subject not consume food, drink or smoke 15 minutes prior to taking a test. ⚠

  1. Step 1: Initialization

    Device State: Screen displays 'Start'.

Action: Press the [Test Key] to turn the HH3 Alcohol Tester on. Ensure the test type is set to Active Testing (with mouthpiece). A 'Start Mouthpiece Test' message will display.

  2. Step 2: Attach Mouthpiece

    Device State: Screen displays 'Blow'.

Action: Attach an Alcolizer approved [Mouthpiece]. Press the [Test Key]. The screen will display 'Please Wait' then 'Blow'.

  3. Step 3: Subject Blows

Device State: N/A (focus on user action).

Action: Hold the breathalyser in front of the subject's mouth so that the subject can blow into the [Mouthpiece]. Instruct the subject to blow gently until you tell them to stop. You will hear a sequence of beeps, a click then a long beep to indicate the test is complete. Tell the subject to stop blowing.

  4. Step 4: Result Interpretation

Device State: Screen displays numerical BrAC result (e.g., '0.000g/210L').

Action: The device will analyse and then display a colour-coded numerical BrAC result. A screen with the numerical BrAC of '0.000g/210L' indicates that alcohol is not present. A screen with the numerical BrAC value of more than '0.000g/210L' indicates that alcohol is present. Follow relevant instructions as designated by local municipality and/or employment terms.
