Download and Account Setup
Download the Nedis SmartLife app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To create an account, select your country code, enter your national phone number or email address, and request a verification code. Enter the received code and set your password.
Add Device (Standard Mode)
Follow these steps to add a device using the standard connection mode:
- Tap the '+' icon on the top right corner. A list of potential products will appear.
- Select the device type you wish to add from the list.
- Activate the device by plugging it in or connecting its battery.
- Ensure the indication LED (or lighting device) flashes quickly (as shown in the app example). Tap the button to confirm. If the light is not flashing quickly, hold the reset button (or switch the bulb off and on 3 times) until it flashes.
- Confirm your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network for the device, enter the Wi-Fi password, and confirm.
- The device will be searched. Ensure your phone and the device are close to the router for optimal reception.
- After the product is found and added, rename it for easy recognition.
If the above method fails (this can be due to an unstable network or specific network protection), add the device using AP mode by following the steps below.
Add Device (AP Mode)
Follow these steps to add a device using AP mode:
- Tap the '+' icon on the top right corner. A list of potential products will appear.
- Select the device type you wish to add from the list.
- Hold the reset button (or switch the bulb off and on 3 times) until the indication LED (or lighting device) flashes SLOWLY (as shown in example). If the light is flashing quickly, reset again by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds or switching the light off and on 3 times.
- Confirm the Wi-Fi network to which the device will be added, enter the Wi-Fi password, and confirm.
- Connect your phone to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot (e.g., 'SmartLife_xxxx').
- If prompted, confirm to stay connected to the Wi-Fi network without internet access.
- Go back to the Nedis SmartLife application to continue installation.
- The device will receive instructions to connect to your existing Wi-Fi network. Ensure your phone and the device are close to the router for optimal reception.
- After the product is found and added, rename it for easy recognition.
Connecting to Amazon Alexa
(Only required for first-time use of Nedis SmartLife in combination with Amazon Alexa)
- An official Alexa device and Amazon Alexa account are required.
- Open the Amazon Alexa App on your smartphone and log in.
- Open the menu by tapping the upper left corner.
- Go to Skills.
- Search for "Smart Life" and tap Enable.
- You will be redirected to a login page to confirm the country/region and enter your Nedis SmartLife account and password. Confirm you are using the SmartLife app.
- Authorize Amazon to use your profile and connect with your products.
- After successful linking, close the window and return to the Amazon Alexa app home screen to add your smart product(s).
Add product(s) to Amazon Alexa
- After installing new products in the SmartLife application, ask "Alexa, discover devices" or open the Amazon Alexa app menu, go to Smart Home, and tap "+ Add Device".
- In approximately 20 seconds, products will automatically be added to the Alexa product list and can be controlled using Amazon Alexa.
Connecting to Google Home / Google Assistant
(Only required for first-time use of Nedis SmartLife in combination with Google Home)
- Hold the home button to start Google Assistant.
- Tap the compass icon in the upper right corner to explore Assistant's functionality.
- Open the menu in the upper right corner and go to Settings.
- Open "Home Control".
- Tap '+' to add products.
- Search for "Smart Life" to add this skill.
- Confirm your country code and enter your Nedis SmartLife account name and password.
- Confirm you are using the SmartLife app.
- Authorize Google to use your profile and connect with your products.
- Installed products, scenes, and automations will be linked automatically. You can assign a room to each product.
Add product(s) to Google Home / Google Assistant
- After installing new products or creating scenes/automations in the SmartLife application, ask Google Assistant to "Sync devices" so they can be controlled or activated using Google Home.
App Interface: My Family (Main Screen)
The main screen displays your connected devices and home status. It shows a visual representation of the app's primary interface.
Key elements:
- 1. My Home: Tap to select or manage different locations (e.g., my home, parents' place, office). Here you can change the location's Name, manage Rooms, set Location details, configure Device sharing, and Add family members.
- 2. '+' Icon: Tap to add new products (refer to setup instructions).
- 3. Weather Information: Displays estimated weather based on your set home location.
- 4. Scenes: Shows created scenes. Scenes can be configured to display on the first page.
- 5. Rooms: Filter and display products assigned to specific rooms. This helps quickly find relevant products.
- 6. Room Management (Cog Icon ⚙️): Tap the cog icon to add or edit rooms. Choose a predefined room or enter a custom name. Tap the newly created room to assign or unassign products. Unassigned products are not removed but remain available under 'All Devices'.
- 7. Product Display: All installed products or product groups are shown here. Tap a product tile to access its specific page, which is the main interface for that product.
- 8. Main Navigation: Located at the bottom of the screen.
- My family: Navigates to the products view.
- Smart: Accesses Scenes and Automations.
- Profile: Navigates to the personal profile and general app settings.
App Interface: Smart (Scenes and Automations)
This section is where scenes and automations are shown and can be created.
Key elements:
- 1. Edit: Tap 'Edit' to move or remove existing scenes or automations. Reordering is done by sliding vertically; deletion is done by sliding a specific scene or automation to the left and tapping "Delete".
- 2. '+' Icon: Tap to add a new scene or automation. Options for each are described below.
- 3. Scenes: All created scenes are displayed here and can be activated by tapping them. A scene is a shortcut for multiple preset actions. You can set:
- Name (used on the main screen and by voice assistants).
- Image (choose from preset images).
- Unlimited number of actions (including enabling or disabling automations).
- Option to show or hide the scene on the first page.
- 4. Automations: All created automations are displayed here. An automation is one or more actions triggered by one or more events. You can set:
- Name (used on the main screen and by voice assistants).
- Image (choose from preset images).
- Type of conditions: (Only applicable when combining multiple conditions as a trigger)
- When ALL set conditions are met.
- When ANY of the set conditions are met.
- Actual conditions:
- Any notification from a sensor, detector, or camera.
- Any state of a product (set manually or automatically).
- A specific time of day (which can be repeated on selected days).
- The sunrise or sunset.
- Weather conditions (these are approximates based on your set location).
- Actions to be executed:
- Activating a scene.
- Starting or stopping another automation (to enable or disable an existing automation).
- Switching a set product on/off.
- Setting a lighting product to a certain mode, brightness, or temperature.
Common Product Interface Features
These features will show on some products, not on all.
Schedule
- Add timing for any recurring behavior.
- Set the specific time when this product should switch on/off.
- Indicate on which days of the week to repeat this schedule.
- Set whether to switch the device on or off.
- Tap 'Save' on the top right corner.
Timer
- Add a timer that will count down after which the product will be switched on/off (the timer is set in hours and minutes).
- The timer can easily be overridden by manually switching the product.
Statistics
- View actual usage data (Current, Power, Voltage).
- Check monthly usage.
- Daily usage is shown after a month is selected.
Product Menu
Tap the button on the upper right corner on the product page to access the Product Menu. Through this menu, you can perform the following actions (depending on the product type):
- a. Change Product Name: The name is also used by Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
- b. Set Device Sharing: Grant other people access to this product. Family members need to be added first.
- c. Create Group: Control multiple similar products at once.
Cameras only:
- d. Basic Feature Setting: Configure status indicator, watermark, audio mode, or flip the image for ceiling-mounted cameras.
- e. Sound Detection: Enable/disable and set sensitivity.
- f. Motion Detection: Enable/disable and set sensitivity.
- g. Storage: Monitor or format storage.
Profile and FAQ
Profile
Here you can check and set basic profile information:
- Home Management: Add or edit location settings.
- Message Center: View notifications for cameras, sensors, or detectors, often with an associated picture.
- Scan QR Code: [QR Code] (only required in case of emergency).
- Feedback: Submit your feedback (both positive and negative).
- Settings:
- Enable/disable sound of in-app notifications.
- Enable/disable app message notifications.
- Integration: Find instructions on how to connect your products to either Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
- About: Provide your rating, find version information, and manually check for updates.
- Empty Cache: Clear cache memory to free up disk space. This may result in temporary slower interaction as interfaces need to be reloaded.
FAQ - Required Router Settings:
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band needs to be enabled.
- Encryption mode: WPA2-PSK.
- Authorization type: AES.
