The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS APPLIANCE TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.
CAUTION: HOT SURFACE. DO NOT TOUCH. The top surface over the internal heat sink may become hot when operating this product continuously. Do not touch hot areas, especially around the "Hot surface mark" and the top panel.
Multilingual safety precautions are provided for user convenience.
Main Features
UHC-MOS Single Push-Pull Circuit: Achieves both "subtlety" and "power" for exceptional emotional reproduction.
Large Motor-Driven Volume Potentiometer: Utilizes a large potentiometer and high-grade integrated amplifiers.
Resonance-Suppressing Design: Minimizes vibration effects on audio quality through optimized heatsink fin configurations and a lowered center of gravity.
Connections
Preparing Connections
Select cables according to the equipment you are connecting.
Audio Cables
Analog connections (stereo):
Connect the RCA stereo cable to the L (White) and R (Red) terminals.
Connecting Audio Equipment
Precautions when playing SA sources:
If your speakers are not compatible with SA sources (DVD Audio, Super Audio CD, etc.), adjust the player settings accordingly.
Playing SA sources at excessively high volumes may damage speakers. Refer to the player's manual for specific settings.
Speaker Connections
Connecting Speaker Cables
Ensure correct channel (L/R) and polarity (+/-) connections:
Strip approximately 10 mm of insulation from the speaker cable end. Twist the wire or use a crimp terminal.
Turn the speaker terminal counter-clockwise to loosen it.
Insert the speaker cable wire into the terminal guard.
Turn the speaker terminal clockwise to tighten it.
Speaker Terminal Dimensions:
Ø8mm
5mm
Speaker Impedance
Use speakers with impedance within the following ranges:
Speaker A: 4 - 16 Ω
Speaker B: 4 - 16 Ω
Speakers A and B: 8 - 16 Ω
Bi-Wiring Connection
For speakers that support bi-wiring, connect the mid/high frequency terminals to SYSTEM (A) and the low frequency terminals to SYSTEM (B), or vice versa. This reduces interference between speaker frequency ranges.
Protection Circuit
This function protects components from damage due to anomalies like overload or overvoltage. If activated, the power indicator flashes red, and the unit enters standby mode.
Check connections if the protection circuit activates.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
If the issue persists, contact Denon service.
Connecting the Power Cord
Ensure all connections are complete before plugging in the power cord.
Connect the power cord to the AC IN terminal and then to the wall outlet (AC 230 V, 50 Hz).
Note: Use only the supplied power cord. Ensure plugs are inserted correctly to prevent noise.
Basic Operation
Before Use
Set VOLUME to minimum.
Set SOURCE DIRECT to "OFF".
Set BASS, TREBLE, and BALANCE to their center positions.
Press POWER. The power indicator will flash red for a few seconds, then turn green.
Extinguishing
Press [AMPLIFIER POWER] on the remote control. The unit enters standby mode.
Press on the unit. The main indicator turns off.
Note: Some circuits remain powered in standby mode. For extended periods of non-use, unplug the power cord.
Starting Playback
Use INPUT SELECTOR to choose the source to play. The selected source indicator will light up.
Play the selected source.
Adjust the volume using VOLUME.
Adjust tone using BASS, TREBLE, and BALANCE.
For pure sound without tone control, press . When ON, signals bypass the tone control circuits. When OFF, tone controls are active.
Press [MUTE] to mute the sound. The main indicator will flash red. Press again to restore sound.
Using Headphones
Plug headphones into the PHONES jack. Speaker output will be muted. Avoid excessively high volume levels to prevent hearing damage.

Note: Changing the INPUT SELECTOR during recording may interrupt sound or cause noise.
Copying from Recorders
Set REC OUT SELECTOR to "RECORDER-1 2" (or "RECORDER-2 1").
Set the connected recorder to recording mode.
Start playback from the connected device on RECORDER-2 (or RECORDER-1).
Note: Do not insert the short-circuiting jumper plug into the recording output terminals, as this may damage the unit.
Advanced Connections
P.DIRECT Connection
If using a pre-amplifier, connect as shown. This allows the unit to be used as a power amplifier.
Setting to "ON" enables playback through the Power Amp Direct connector on the rear panel. The input indicator turns off.
Setting to "OFF" allows program source playback using the INPUT SELECTOR. The input indicator lights up.
Refer to the pre-amplifier's manual for details.
PRE OUT Connection
If using a power amplifier, connect as shown. This allows the unit to be used as a pre-amplifier.
Refer to the power amplifier's manual for speaker connections.
Eco Mode Setting
When Eco Mode is active (ON), the unit automatically enters standby mode after 30 minutes of no speaker or headphone output. The power indicator is off in this mode to reduce consumption.
Press and hold [AMPLIFIER POWER] on the remote for at least five seconds to toggle Eco Mode ON/OFF.
The power indicator flashes red during the Eco Mode setting process.
Eco Mode inactive (ON): Power indicator is red.
Eco Mode active (OFF): Power indicator is off.
Note: If the unit is ON and Eco Mode is set, it will enter standby mode once the setting is complete. The default setting is Eco Mode inactive (OFF).
Note: If a source other than the one selected by INPUT SELECTOR is chosen with REC OUT SELECTOR, the unit will not enter standby mode. The unit enters standby mode if no output signal is detected from the selected INPUT SELECTOR source. If a signal from a non-selected INPUT SELECTOR source is emitted from the REC OUT terminals, the automatic standby function is disabled to prevent interruption during recording.
Note: When is "ON", volume, balance, and tone controls on the main unit have no effect. Adjust volume on the input device. The main unit is at maximum volume. Check the output level on the input device before playback and adjust accordingly.
Troubleshooting
If a problem occurs, check the following first:
Are all connections correct?
Did you follow the manual's instructions?
Are other components functioning correctly?
If the unit is not functioning correctly, check the points in the table below. If the problem persists, it may indicate a malfunction. Immediately unplug the power cord and contact your dealer.
