GoGEN DAB 300 N Portable DAB+/FM Radio User Manual

Product Overview

A GoGEN DAB 300 N portable digital radio. It features a large speaker grille on the left side, an LCD display screen on the upper right, control buttons below the display, and a prominent volume dial on the far right. The device has a silver-grey finish.

Control Buttons and Sockets:

  • 1. LCD Display: Shows station information, time, and menu options.

Getting Started

To begin using your GoGEN DAB 300 N radio:

  • Connect the micro-USB cable to the micro-USB socket (11) on the radio.
  • Connect the other end of the micro-USB cable to a power outlet using a USB power adapter, or to a computer's USB port to charge the battery.

Powering On/Off (Standby Button):

  • To turn on the radio, press and hold the STANDBY button (10) for 2 seconds. The first time it's powered on, it will automatically scan for available DAB stations.
  • If the radio is connected to a power adapter, pressing STANDBY switches it between ON and STANDBY modes. To turn it off completely, unplug the power adapter.
  • If the radio is battery-powered, press and hold STANDBY for 2 seconds to turn it on. Pressing STANDBY again puts it into standby mode. To power off, hold the STANDBY button for 2 seconds.

Switching Between DAB and FM Modes (DAB/FM Button):

  • Upon first use, the radio defaults to DAB mode.
  • To switch to FM mode, repeatedly press the DAB/FM button (9) until 'FM' appears on the display.
  • In FM mode, the radio will tune to the start of the available FM range (87.50 MHz) or the last tuned FM station.
  • To manually adjust the FM frequency, press the ▼/▲ buttons (3/4) in 0.05 MHz steps.
  • Pressing and holding ▼/▲ for 2 seconds will initiate an automatic scan for FM stations, which will last about one minute and store the found stations.

Changing Display Information (Menu/Info Button):

  • In DAB mode, press the MENU/INFO button (8) to cycle through information like DLS, signal strength, PTY, ensemble, frequency, signal quality, bit rate, time, and date.
  • In FM mode, press MENU/INFO to display information such as radio text, PTY, PS, stereo/mono status, time, and date.

Selecting Radio Stations or Options (▼/▲ Buttons):

  • In DAB mode, use ▼/▲ buttons (3/4) to cycle through the station list or menu options.
  • In FM mode, use ▼/▲ buttons to manually adjust frequency or auto-scan stations by pressing and holding them. You can also use them to navigate menu options.

Operation

Volume Control:

Turn the VOLUME dial (5) to increase or decrease the audio volume.

DAB Mode Menu Options:

Press and hold the MENU/INFO button (8) to enter the menu. Use ▼/▲ buttons (3/4) to select an option, then press SELECT (7) to confirm.

  • Full Scan: Automatically scans for all available DAB stations.
  • Manual Tune: Manually tune to a specific channel/frequency for better reception or to update the station list.
  • DRC (Dynamic Range Compression): Adjusts the difference between the loudest and quietest sounds. Options: Off, High, Low.
  • Prune: Removes invalid stations marked with a '?' from the station list.
  • System: Accesses system settings.

FM Mode Menu Options:

Press and hold the MENU/INFO button (8) to enter the menu. Use ▼/▲ buttons (3/4) to select an option, then press SELECT (7) to confirm.

  • Scan Setting: Choose to scan for 'Strong stations only' or 'All stations'.

AMS (Automatic Memory System):

Press and hold SELECT/SCAN (7) for 2 seconds to automatically scan and save FM radio stations.

System Settings:

  • Sleep Timer: Repeatedly press the SLEEP button (6) to set an automatic power-off timer (15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes). To cancel, press STANDBY (10) or cycle SLEEP to 'off'.
  • Alarms and Timers: Set up to two alarms. Alarms can tune to a radio station or sound a tone. Follow on-screen prompts using SELECT (7) and ▼/▲ (3/4) buttons to set alarm time, source (Buzzer, FM, DAB), days, and volume.
  • Snooze Function: When an alarm sounds, press SELECT (7) to activate snooze. Adjust snooze duration (5, 15, or 30 minutes). Press STANDBY (10) to cancel snooze.
  • Time: If DAB+ signal is available, the time updates automatically. Otherwise, set manually (hour, minute, date, month, year). Auto-update options include 'Any', 'DAB', 'FM', or 'No update'. Set 12/24 hour format.
  • Backlight: Adjust display backlight brightness (High, Medium, Low) via the system menu.
  • Language: Select display language from English, Czech, Slovak, Polish, or Hungarian via the system menu.
  • Factory Reset: Resets all user settings to default values, clearing time, date, preferences, DAB station lists, and presets. Confirm with 'Yes'.
  • Software Version: Displays the current software version.

  • If the unit is moved from a cold to a warm environment, condensation may form. Wait about one hour for moisture to evaporate before operating.

Warranty

The product is warranted for 2 full years from the date of purchase, covering material defects and workmanship. The 24-month warranty does not cover a decrease in battery capacity due to use or age.
