Understanding Infrared Rays
Infrared is the band of light we perceive as heat. It is invisible to the naked eye but felt as warmth. Our sun produces most of its energy in this spectrum. Infrared rays heat your body directly through a process called conversion, without needing to heat the air in-between.
Infrared is divided into three segments by wavelengths:
- Near Infrared: 0.76-1.5 microns
- Middle Infrared: 1.5-5.6 microns
- Far Infrared: 5.6-1000 microns
Far Infrared rays penetrate organic substances, including the human body, two to three inches, providing a uniform warming effect.
Are Infrared Rays Safe? Yes, infrared rays are part of sunlight and are considered safe and beneficial. Health professionals have used infrared heat lamps for decades to treat muscle and joint problems, and they are used in hospital baby care units.
What is an Electromagnetic Field (EMF)? An Electromagnetic Field is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects, a combination of electric and magnetic fields. Magnetic fields are measured in milligauss (mG). Maxxus sauna products are designed to have low EMF levels. Low EMF models range from 5mG-10mG at two inches from the heater panel, and Ultra Low EMF models range from 3mG-5mG at the same distance.

Scientific evidence suggests that low-power, low-frequency electromagnetic radiation from sources like infrared saunas does not constitute a health hazard.
Disclaimer: The therapeutic benefits of infrared rays are based on research and presented for reference only. This does not imply that infrared saunas cure or treat any disease. Consult your medical physician before use if you have any medical conditions, are taking prescription drugs, or have acute joint injuries. Persons with surgical implants should also consult their physician.
How It Works & Health Benefits
Infrared saunas use radiant energy to penetrate body tissue and produce perspiration, differing from traditional saunas that heat the air. This allows for effective heating at lower temperatures (up to 120°F) compared to traditional saunas (up to 190°F), making the environment more tolerable.
The deep heating effect on muscle tissues and internal organs is achieved through conversion, without burdening the heart. Perspiration helps remove toxins, waste residue, and heavy metals. This process cleanses the skin, leaving it glowing with improved tone, elasticity, texture, and color.
Health Benefits Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Pain relief from Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Increases blood circulation
- Cardiovascular conditioning
- Relaxes muscle spasms
- Clears, rashes, acne
- Reduces stress & fatigue
- Reduces cellulite
- Enhances skin tone
- Removes toxins
Sauna Maintenance: Infrared saunas require minimal maintenance. Wipe down with a damp, soft, clean cloth. Do not use chemical-based cleaning agents, as they can be absorbed into the wood.

Troubleshooting Guide
1. No Heat Coming From Some Of The Heat Emitters
- Solution: Check all heat emitter cords for proper connection, including the bench heater. Verify connections on the roof and to the power supply.
- Solution: If some emitters work, damaged ones may need replacement. Do not operate. Contact the manufacturer.
- Solution: If emitters are off but the control panel works, the temperature sensor may be faulty or disconnected. Check the red/black "TEMP SENSOR" wires near the rear air vent on the roof. Disconnect and connect a spare sensor. Test by placing the spare sensor inside the sauna. If heat returns, the original sensor was the issue. Replace the original sensor.
2. Control Panel Malfunctioning
- Solution: If the control panel turns on but not off, or numbers flash, check connections. Locate the "CTRL" wire harness on the roof, disconnect, check pins, and reconnect firmly. Test again. Contact manufacturer for further assistance.
- Solution: If the control panel will not turn off, or power/work/heat lights are off, or temperature/timer buttons don't work, the control panel may be damaged and require replacement. Contact the manufacturer.
3. Sauna Shows Signs Of No Power
- Solution: Check if the power supply cord is plugged into the wall outlet. Verify the main circuit breaker is not tripped. Inspect the power supply on the roof for signs of malfunction (high temperature, burning odor, strange sounds). Check power cords for damage. If issues are found, unplug immediately and contact the manufacturer.
- Solution: If plugged in but no power at the control panel, the power supply may need resetting. Locate the power supply on the roof and press the RESET button. Attempt to turn the sauna on. Contact manufacturer.
- Solution: Damage to the temperature sensor can cause no power. If a spare is available, turn off the control panel, locate the "TEMP SENSOR" wires on the roof, disconnect the original, and connect the spare. Test by placing the spare sensor inside the sauna. If heat emitters function, the sensor was the problem. Replace the original sensor.
- Solution: Check wiring harnesses from the power supply on the roof. Ensure the "CTRL" harness is properly connected at both ends. If not, the sauna will show no power.
4. CD Player Will Not Work
- Solution: Ensure the lock screws on top of the radio have been removed. The CD player will not function if these screws remain.
