An illustration showing the upper portion of a massage chair, focusing on the armrest and headrest area, is presented on the cover.
Introduction
This Troubleshooting Guide provides step-by-step instructions for diagnosing common issues with the Human Touch HT-125 massage chair. Following these steps carefully ensures accurate problem diagnosis and appropriate repair actions.
Getting Started
- Turn the power switch on the back of the chair to Off, wait approximately five seconds, then turn it back On.
- Wait 30 seconds while a system check is performed, observing whether the backrest massage mechanism and the foot-and-calf massager paddles move. If they do not, refer to the "Power" section.
- If the problem persists, select the relevant issue from the table below.
Issue | Action |
---|---|
My remote control is not working | See the "Remote" section. |
My chair is not massaging properly | If Percussion, Compression, Kneading, or Rolling massage is not working correctly, replace the backrest. If the Stretch feature is not working correctly, ensure the Stretch button is pressed and held until the chair beeps twice (this may take several seconds for the chair to prepare for the Stretch function). |
My foot and calf massager is not working | See the "Foot and Calf Massager" section. |
My chair won't recline/incline | Ensure the recline or incline button is pressed and held for at least five seconds, as actuator activation can take several seconds. If this does not resolve the issue, the backrest actuator may not be working properly; replace the backrest actuator. |
My chair won't swivel or the pedestal is broken | Replace the chair. |
Power Issues
Step 1: Check the power cord.
Verify that the power cord connection to the power panel is secure and that the cord is not damaged. If the power cord is damaged, replace the backrest cover.
IMPORTANT: Note the serial number on the back of the backrest cover before replacement, as the chair will no longer contain the serial number after the cover is replaced.
Step 2: Check the wall outlet.
Plug a different device into the AC outlet used by the chair. If the other device does not receive power, the AC outlet is likely faulty. Plug the chair into a different AC outlet to confirm it receives power.
Step 3: If the chair is still not receiving power, replace the backrest.
A recent electrical surge may have damaged the main circuit board. Replace the backrest.
IMPORTANT: If you replace the backrest, note the serial number on the backrest cover before replacement, as the chair will no longer contain the serial number after the cover is replaced.
Remote Control Issues
If one or more remote control LEDs do not light when a button is pressed, but the function controlled by that button works correctly:
The remote control may not be working properly. Verify that the remote control cable connection to the backrest cover is secure. If the problem persists, replace the remote.
If the remote control LED lights up, but the function it controls is not working correctly:
The issue is likely with the function controlled by the remote, not the remote itself. If the malfunctioning function is in the backrest, replace the backrest. If the malfunctioning function is in the foot and calf massager, replace the foot and calf massager.
Foot and Calf Massager Issues
Hesitation when changing directions:
This is normal and due to gear shifting.
Foot and calf massager will not deploy or retract:
- Press the foot and calf massage button on the remote control. Wait 30 seconds and observe if the foot and calf massager paddles move.
- If the paddles do not move and all foot and calf massager LEDs begin to flash after 30 seconds, replace the backrest and the calf massager.
- If the paddles move, use the remote to attempt to deploy/retract the massager. If a clicking and humming sound is heard, the foot and calf massager bracket may have been pushed up into the chair seat. This can be corrected by removing the front foot and calf actuator hinge pin, allowing the bracket to swing down into the proper position, then reinstalling the hinge pin. Refer to the Foot and Calf Massager Actuator repair instructions for details.
- If the foot and calf massager still will not deploy/retract, replace the foot and calf massager actuator.
Foot and calf massager massages only on one side:
Replace the foot and calf massager.
When pressing the foot and calf massager button on the remote control, the paddles do not move and all foot and calf massager LEDs are flashing:
- If the serial number is prior to A21061221, replace the backrest.
- If the serial number is after A21061221, replace the foot and calf massager.
