KOTLIE 4in1 Coffee Maker Troubleshooting

-----English ver.1

1. What is the sound of the machine when making coffee?

In order to extract better coffee, KOTLIE uses a 1450W high-power boiler and a 19Bar pressure imported water pump. This ensures perfect extraction at a constant temperature of 93°C and constant pressure of 19Bar. During instant capsule puncture, the noise produced will not exceed 70 decibels and lasts for a few seconds before returning to normal.

2. Why does the K-Cup capsule keep dripping after making coffee?

The K-Cup capsule's internal chamber is larger, causing residual liquid. It is recommended to wait for the drip to complete before removing the coffee cup.

3. Water leakage from the bottom of the machine?

Please check if the water catch tray is full and if the water tank is installed properly.

4. After making coffee, there is water vapor in the water tank?

This is the normal machine pressure relief protection.

5. First time to make coffee, feel the plastic flavor?

This is a normal phenomenon. KOTLIE pods use BPA-free materials with a very small odor. For the first use, it is recommended to flush with hot water a few times.

6. After the capsule coffee maker has finished making coffee, there will be a few seconds of dripping, which is a normal phenomenon.

It is recommended to stop working and wait for 5-10 seconds before taking away the coffee cup.

7. In addition to Nestle and K-cup capsules, can it support other capsules?

KOTLIE currently supports Nespresso and K-Cup capsules in its 4-in-1 machine. Additional pods supporting Dolce Gusto, Caffitaly, and more can be purchased directly from KOTLIE.

8. What is the liquid volume for large and small cups? I want to increase the amount of coffee liquid, what should I do?

The default brewing time for a small cup is 23 seconds, yielding approximately 60ML. The default for a large cup is 50 seconds, yielding approximately 120ML. To brew more, you can brew twice or press and hold the large cup button, releasing it when you reach your desired coffee volume (minimum 15 seconds, maximum 90 seconds). This allows for over 12OZ of coffee (refer to Coffee Volume Setting in Article 7). This feature is very convenient.

9. This machine is an espresso machine, the height is not high enough, my cup can not be put in

This coffee machine is an espresso machine. KOTLIE prioritizes the needs of most espresso capsule coffees and a smaller footprint for portability. Therefore, cups taller than 10CM cannot be used. A 9.5cm wide mouth mug can be chosen.

10. I'm a little confused about when to make my large and small cups, what should I do?

Due to the memory function for large and small cups, the volume of each preparation defaults to the last coffee liquid volume. To return to the default capacity, press and hold the large cup button while plugging in the power supply. The button indicator light will blink twice, restoring the factory settings.

11. After powering on the unit, the small and large cups are blinking and then stop blinking, what happens then?

When you use the machine, after powering on, the lights for the large and small cups will blink for about 10 seconds. This indicates the machine is warming up, which is a normal phenomenon. Wait for the lights to stop blinking before using the machine normally.

12. Why is the temperature of the coffee liquid not high when I just extracted it?

To ensure optimal temperature: Preheat the coffee cup and the coffee machine. After turning on the machine, use the first cup of pods without capsules, press the small cup button to release water. This preheats and cleans the machine. Then, use the second cup to make coffee. For descaling, please refer to page 12 of the manual.

13. After turning on the machine, you can hear the machine running but no water comes out?

First, check if there is water in the water tank. If there is water, the issue might be scale blockage inside the pipe. Unplug the power supply, remove the water tank, and use the provided hose. Inject a small amount of water into the water tank inlet to discharge air from the pipeline, ensuring it is unobstructed. Refer to page 16 diagrams in the manual.

14. The coffee machine has not been used for a long time, there is water in the water tank, I can hear the machine running sound, but no water flow?

If the machine has been unused for a long time, the internal pump and boiler may be dry and unable to work. Remove the water tank and the hose accessory. Add a small amount of water into the water tank inlet until water flows out of the black hose at the top of the water tank. Refer to page 16 illustration in the manual.

15. I use LOR small capsules to extract coffee, but no coffee liquid comes out, only water?

Check the capsule surface for breaks or dents. The capsule size might be the issue. If the capsule has an aluminum film and shell depression, or is the wrong size, the machine's needle may not penetrate the capsule properly, preventing water flow into the coffee powder. Try replacing the capsule with another brand, as pods fit tightly and vary by brand (e.g., illy, lavazza, Tim's nespresso pods fit differently).

16. What capsules does our 513K coffee maker support?

The KOTLIE 513K coffee maker supports branded capsules such as Nespresso Original, Dolce Gusto large capsules, Caffitaly, Lavazza A Modo Mio, Lavazza BLUE, and KEURIG's K-Cup large capsules. However, other capsule sizes may have poor compatibility, and some pods may need to be purchased separately.

17. Why is it that when I make two consecutive cups of coffee with Nespresso capsules, the cup sizes are not the same?

This is a normal phenomenon; no two cups of coffee are identical, even with the same material. The single cup is designed for approximately 40-60ML, and the double cup for 80-120ML. It's possible the first single cup is 45ML and the second is 55ML, depending on the flow rate, pressure, and temperature inside the machine at that moment. High-end coffee machines offer more precise control, but a deviation of about 8% is still possible.

18. With K-Cup capsule coffee extraction, out of the coffee flavor is very bad, and there is coffee residue?

It's possible the space between the filter and the bottom inside the K-Cup capsule is too small. In a standard K-Cup capsule, the filter space accounts for 1/3 of the capsule. This can cause the bottom of the pod's pinprick to directly pierce the filter and contact the coffee powder above. When pressure is released, coffee residue can exit with the liquid. It is recommended to replace the brand of capsule coffee. Additionally, ensure you are not using KEURIG's K-Cup large capsules if they have rounded capsules.

19. I use K-Cup capsules, and long press large cup 90 seconds, only about 3 ounces of liquid?

This may be due to capsule quality. If the K-Cup capsule's filter space near the bottom is less than 1/3 of the total, it can easily cause the internal filter to pierce the coffee powder. This results in the capsule filling with water and coffee powder mixture, blocking the exit and reducing coffee liquid flow. It is recommended to replace the capsule brand for guaranteed quality.

20. Why can't KCUP capsules be pushed into the machine after being loaded with pods?

KCUP capsules have a needle at the bottom. You need to press the capsule to allow the needle to pierce it for proper installation.

21. The machine is overheated when used, the pods can not be taken out?

For some larger capsules, the aluminum film surface, shell depression, or insufficient internal filter space, along with overly fine coffee powder (recommended for 4-8 scale), or overfilling/improper tamping can cause overheating and jamming, preventing pod removal. Disconnect the power supply and wait for the machine to cool down completely before attempting to remove the pods.

22. When using ground coffee, there is very little coffee liquid and the machine leaks?

First, check if the amount of coffee powder is appropriate (usually around 14 grams). Ensure it is compacted and flattened, neither too tight nor too loose. Second, check if the upper cover of the ground coffee pod is blocked. If blocked, hot water cannot reach the coffee powder, causing overflow along the edges.

23. The machine vibrates a lot, placed on the table on the move?

During capsule puncture and extraction, the machine reaches maximum power, causing vibration. KOTLIE machines are designed with family environments and portability in mind, featuring smaller, lighter weights. It is recommended not to place the machine on smooth surfaces like marble. Cushioning with a piece of cotton cloth on wood or other rough surfaces will prevent movement.

24. After a period of time, the machine appeared on the power supply, the various indicator lights are not bright?

This may indicate motherboard power connection problems, requiring a maintenance process.

25. Why can't I use the ESE of senseo I bought?

The KOTLIE machine supports illy's 44mm E.S.E Bags; other sizes are not supported.

26. How to clean the machine?

Load empty pods and place a cup underneath. Add citric acid to the water tank. Press the small cup button and turn on the power simultaneously. When the on/off button and small cup lights illuminate, press the small cup button again to start cleaning for 120 seconds. It is recommended to clean the machine once every three months, at least twice each time.

27. How many cups of coffee can be made when the machine works continuously?

Laboratory data shows that the home coffee machine can make 15 cups of coffee continuously at 20-25°C room temperature, ensuring capsule quality without dents or breakage.

28. After making, there will be a small amount of water in the pod seeds?

This is a normal phenomenon. As it is a multi-capsule system with extreme size variations, there is no space to automatically recycle capsules and leftover water. You need to manually empty the used capsules and residual water.
