Notes on Disposal and Batteries
The symbol of a crossed-out waste bin on batteries or accumulators indicates that they must not be disposed of in household waste at the end of their service life. If batteries or accumulators contain mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), or lead (Pb), the respective chemical symbol will be found below the crossed-out waste bin symbol. You are legally obligated to return old batteries and accumulators after use. You can do this free of charge at retail stores or other collection points near you.
Information for Electrical and Electronic Equipment: This notice is for private end-users. Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as old equipment. Owners of old equipment must ensure it is collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Old equipment does not belong in household waste but in special collection and return systems.
Owners of old equipment must generally separate old batteries and accumulators, which are not enclosed by the old equipment, before handing them over to a collection point. This does not apply if the old equipment is handed over to public waste disposal authorities and is separated there from other old equipment for the purpose of preparation for reuse.
You can hand over old equipment to collection or return facilities set up by public waste disposal authorities for proper disposal. In some cases, electrical and electronic equipment may also be deposited there for reuse. Further information can be obtained from the respective collection or return point.
Data Protection Notice: Old equipment often contains sensitive personal data, especially communication devices. Each end-user is responsible for deleting data on old equipment before disposal.
The symbol of a crossed-out waste bin regularly depicted on electrical and electronic equipment indicates that the respective device will be separated from unsorted waste at the end of its service life.
