1. Location Planning
Before mounting any devices, plan their locations and check their range. All devices must be within 30 meters of the Smart Hub and should not be mounted on or near large metal objects. Avoid sources of electrical interference such as refrigerators and microwave ovens.
- Key Pad: Should be accessible from a protected entry/exit point and not visible from the outside.
- Smoke Detector: Mount on a ceiling in main access areas like hallways or at the top of stairs.
- External Siren: Mount as high as possible, out of easy reach.
- Door/Window Contact: Mount on the door or window frame.
- Key Fob: Use inside or outside within a 30m range.
- Smart Hub 2.0: Ensure it is hidden from view. Requires access to a mains socket and broadband internet router.
- Panic Button: Keep out of reach of children, hidden from view but easily accessible. Can activate the alarm immediately, even when disarmed.
- PIR Motion Detector: Mount 1.8m - 2.1m above floor level. Corner placement ensures wider room coverage. Do not mount where the field of view is obstructed, point directly at heat sources, or above radiators. Avoid pointing directly at windows or doors protected by a Door/Window Contact.

Mount the PIR camera using the provided bracket and screws. Ensure the tamper spring is fully depressed when fitting the PIR to the back case.
5. Using the System
Arming and Disarming your Alarm
Use the Yale Home App to arm (fully or part arm) and disarm your alarm by swiping on the dashboard.
Changing your Key Pad PIN
You can set up to 10 PIN codes via the app. Go to Settings > Alarm Settings > KeyPad PIN Code Settings to manage PINs.
Configuring Device Behaviour
In the app, go to Settings > Alarm Settings > Devices to configure individual device settings. Devices are pre-set to 'entry' mode (except SR-PC and SR-PVC, which are 'burglar only' for battery saving).
Setting up Part Armed Mode
Part Armed mode is useful for securing the ground floor while occupants are upstairs. The system allows for entry/exit delays and other settings to be configured.
Adding Alert Notifications
Add or delete email addresses for alarm notifications. You can choose to receive reports for ALL events or Burglar only. SMS alerts for burglar events can also be configured via Settings > Users > Notification Settings.
Supervision
Supervision is recommended for most devices to check for outages and malfunctions. It can be enabled via Settings > Alarm Settings > System Settings > General Configuration. PIR Image Camera, PIR Video Camera, and Smoke Detector always have supervision enabled.
Jamming and Interference Detection
This feature is enabled by default. It can be configured via Settings > Alarm Settings > System Settings > General Configuration.
6. Default Settings
All devices (except SR-PC and SR-PVC) are pre-set to 'entry' mode. SR-PC/SR-PVC default to 'burglar only' for battery conservation. Entry/exit delays and other settings can be adjusted in System Settings.
Mode | Sensor | Ignored | Instant Siren | Triggers | Countdown |
Disarmed | |||||
Part-Armed | |||||
Armed |
Note: The system allows 30 seconds to exit after arming. Triggering sensors when armed initiates an entry countdown.
7. Adding & Using Devices
Key Fob
Use the Key Fob to remotely arm, part arm, or disarm the alarm within 30m of the Smart Hub. Pressing the panic button sounds the alarm immediately; use your Key Pad PIN to cancel.
Key Pad Initialisation
If a Key Pad is purchased separately, it must be initialized before learning it into the Smart Hub. Follow the steps: Press 'Panic button A', then the factory default Key Pad code '0000'. The LED will flash. Press 'Panic button A' followed by the '7' key to set the Key Pad to slave mode. Quit test mode by pressing the disarm key twice. Then learn it into your system.
Manually Requesting PIR Images
During an alarm, the PIR Image Camera sends images to your phone. You can also manually request images via the 'Control' section of the app by pressing the image icon next to the device. Images are stored for up to 30 days.
8. Changing Batteries
Low Battery Indicator
The Hub will beep, and the app will display a low battery message when a device's batteries are low. Devices have approximately one month of battery life remaining when the low battery signal appears.
Always disarm the system before changing batteries. Use the in-app battery wizard for guidance.
External Siren Battery Change
When batteries are low, the Siren will produce audible pips and flashes. Take care not to confuse this with a tamper warning. Follow the steps: Disarm, navigate to Settings > Devices > External Siren > Change battery, switch off the siren, remove old batteries, wait 30 seconds, insert new batteries, switch on, and check for beeps and flashes. Replace the cover.
Door/Window Contact Battery Change
When the battery is low, the LED lights up when the door/window is opened. Check the tamper switch before changing the battery.

9. Troubleshooting
External Siren
- Siren produces a 3-second alarm when disarmed: Indicates a previous alarm; an intruder may still be present.
- Siren produces a series of audible pips when armed or disarmed: Low batteries. Check app for status.
- Siren produces a series of pips only when arming: Tamper fault. Ensure the siren cover is secure and the tamper spring is fully depressed.
- Siren produces an interrupted tone when sounding an alarm: Low battery warning. Check app and change batteries.
- Siren does not respond to Arming or Disarming: Batteries may be exhausted. Check app. Siren may not be learnt-in or may be out of range. Ensure it is within 30m of the Smart Hub.
Door/Window Contact
- LED lights up: Batteries are low or the tamper switch is disturbed. Check tamper switch contact; if OK, change battery.
- Does not respond to opening when jumper is in test position: Batteries exhausted or magnet too far from sensor. Check gap is not greater than 10mm.
PIR Motion Detector
- Does not respond to motion: PIR may be in sleep mode. Arm the system, vacate the area for 60 seconds, then test. Pressing the learn/test button activates detection for one minute.
- Slow to respond: This is normal due to sophisticated false alarm filtering. The PIR is less sensitive when approached directly.
- Gives false alarms: Check for pets in the protected area. Ensure the PIR is not pointed at heat sources, moving objects, or directly at windows.
PIR Motion Detector LED flashes
Indicates low batteries or a disturbed tamper switch. Check app for battery status and ensure the tamper switch spring is making contact.
PIR Motion Detector does not respond to movement
Batteries may be completely exhausted. Check app and change batteries.
PIR Image Camera & PIR Video Camera LED flashes every 20 minutes
Device may be out of range of the Smart Hub or not learnt-in, affecting battery life.
