Congratulations on purchasing your new VTech product. This manual provides instructions for installation and operation, as well as troubleshooting tips for your VTech VM320 Video Monitor.

Important Safety Instructions
Read all warnings and instructions before use. Adult setup is required.
- Keep baby unit out of reach of children. Never place or mount the baby unit inside the baby’s cot or playpen.
- Do not use near water (e.g., bathtub, sink, pool).
- Use only the provided battery and adapters. Incorrect voltage or polarity can damage the product.
- Ensure power adapters are oriented correctly and accessible.
- Unplug before cleaning; use a damp cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Keep cords out of reach of children (more than 3 ft / 0.9m away) to prevent strangulation hazards.
- Ensure proper ventilation; do not block openings.
- Do not insert objects into product openings.
- Do not disassemble; contact authorized service for repairs.
- Test sound reception regularly.
- Periodically examine components for damage.
- To protect privacy, reset the monitor periodically and power off when not in use.
- Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the product.
- Not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities without supervision.
- Store product between 0°C and 40°C. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Keep away from heating sources and devices generating electrical noise (routers, motors, fluorescent lamps).
- Pacemaker Precautions: Keep wireless devices at least six inches (15 cm) from the pacemaker. Do not place wireless devices directly over the pacemaker.
- Electromagnetic Fields (EMF): This product complies with EMF standards.
1. Connect and Charge the Battery
The rechargeable battery is pre-installed in the parent unit.
Connecting the Baby Monitor:
- Connect the power adapter to the baby unit and a wall socket.
- Slide the ON/OFF switch on the baby unit to ON. The POWER LED light turns on.
Connecting the Parent Unit:
- Connect the power adapter to the parent unit and a wall socket.
- Slide the ON/OFF switch on the parent unit to ON. The screen and POWER LED light turn on.
Charging the Parent Unit Battery:
The battery charges automatically when the parent unit is connected and turned on. The battery icon indicates the status:

Notes:
- The battery is fully charged after 11 hours of continuous charging.
- Charging takes longer when the parent unit is on. Turn it off to shorten charging time.
- Standby time varies with volume and usage.
- For maximum battery life, fully charge before first use.
2. Before Use
Test Your Baby Monitor:
Test before initial use and regularly thereafter.
- Ensure both baby and parent units are on.
- The parent unit displays images from the baby unit.
- Speak towards the baby unit microphone; sound is heard on the parent unit.
- Caution: For hearing protection, keep the parent unit at least 3 feet (1 meter) away from baby units to avoid high-pitched noise.
- If "No link to Camera" is displayed and the POWER LED flashes, move the parent unit closer to the baby units (maintaining at least 3 feet / 1 meter distance).
- Increase parent unit speaker volume if sounds are not audible.
Positioning the Baby Monitor:
- Place baby units more than 3 feet (1 meter) away from your baby.
- Adjust the baby unit camera angle to aim at your baby.
- Place the parent unit more than 3 feet (1 meter) away from the baby units to avoid screeching noise.
- Caution: If high-pitched noise occurs, ensure units are more than 3 feet (1 meter) apart or turn down parent unit volume.
Operating Range:
The operating range is up to 1000 feet (300 meters) outdoors. Actual range varies with environmental conditions and obstructions (walls, doors).
3. Using the Baby Monitor
Power Management
- Power on/off Baby Unit: Slide the ON/OFF switch. POWER LED indicates status.
- Power on/off Parent Unit: Slide the ON/OFF switch. Screen and POWER LED indicate status.
Audio and Display Settings
- Adjust Speaker Volume (Parent Unit): Press VOL / VOL. The parent unit mutes automatically during talkback.
- Adjust Speaker Volume (Baby Unit): Adjust via the parent unit menu to control lullaby and talkback volume.
- Adjust LCD Brightness: Set screen brightness from Level 1 to 5 via the parent unit menu.
- Screen Off Timer: Set the parent unit screen to turn off automatically after a period of inactivity (5, 30, or 60 minutes). Sound is still audible.
- Dim Mode: The parent unit display dims automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity to save power.
Sound Features
- Lullaby: Play one of two lullabies or two soothing sounds from the baby unit using the parent unit. Selected lullabies play for 30 minutes and stop automatically.
- Adjust Sound Sensitivity (VOX): Control how sensitive the baby unit microphone is to sound.
Sensitivity Level Description Level 5 (Highest) Parent unit speaker is constantly on; hears all sounds. Level 4 (High) Speaker turns on for soft babbling and louder sounds; quiet for sound sleep. Level 3 (Medium) Speaker turns on for loud babbling and louder sounds; quiet for soft sounds. Level 2 (Low) Speaker turns on for crying and louder sounds; quiet for soft sounds. Level 1 (Lowest) Speaker turns on for loud crying or screeching; quiet for soft sounds. Note: Default level is 5. Lower sensitivity if using a sound machine to avoid interference.
- Sound-Activated Screen: When ON, the parent unit screen turns off if no sound is detected for 50 seconds, and turns on automatically when sound is detected.
Visual and Communication Features
- Zoom: Press ? to zoom in/out on the baby unit image. Use arrow keys to pan the zoomed image.
- Talk: Press and hold TALK on the parent unit to speak to the baby unit. Release to stop. Parent unit speaker is muted during broadcast.
- Night Vision: Infrared LEDs on the baby unit allow clear viewing in dark rooms. Images are black and white. A short white glare is normal as the unit adapts. Adjust angle or placement to prevent glare/blurry display.
Environmental Monitoring
- Monitor the Temperature: The baby unit monitors room temperature. The parent unit displays alerts if the temperature is outside the set range.
- Set Temperature Range: Define minimum and maximum temperature alert thresholds via the parent unit menu.
- Temperature Alert Tone: Enable/disable audible alerts for out-of-range temperatures.
- Temperature Format: Choose between Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C).
Parent Unit Overview
The parent unit features:
- 1 POWER LED light: Green when powered on and linked; flashes when link is lost.
- 2 TALK: Press and hold to speak to the baby unit.
- 3 Arrow keys and VOL / VOL: Navigate menus, adjust volume, pan zoomed image.
- 4 MENU/SELECT: Access menus, select items, save settings.
- 5 Microphone: For talkback function.
- 6 Battery indicator: Red when charging, flashes when low, solid when full.
- 7 Visual sound indicators: Green lights for moderate sound, red lights for loud sound (e.g., crying).
- 8 Zoom/Back: Zoom in/out on video, return to previous screen.
- 9 LCD display: Shows video feed and status icons.
- 10 Speaker: Outputs sound from baby unit.
- 11 Stand: For positioning the parent unit.
- 12 ON/OFF switch: Powers the unit on/off.

Baby Unit Overview
The baby unit features:
- 1 Pair hole: For wall mounting.
- 2 POWER LED light: On when powered on and paired; flashes when not viewed or link is lost.
- 3 Microphone: Captures sound.
- 4 Camera: Captures video.
- 5 Infrared LEDs: Enable night vision.
- 6 Light sensor: Detects ambient light levels for night vision.

Mount the Baby Unit on Dry Wall (Optional)
Items to purchase separately: 2 screws, 2 anchors.
- Mark two parallel holes on the wall, matching the distance of the baby unit's wall mount holes.
- Drill holes. If drilling into a stud, proceed to step 3. If not, insert wall anchors and tap flush with the wall.
- Insert screws, leaving about 1/4 inch exposed.
- Align baby unit's wall mount holes with screws and slide down to lock.
- Adjust camera angle as needed.
- Note: Check reception strength and camera angle before drilling.
General Product Care
- Avoid placing near heating appliances or devices generating electrical noise.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight or moisture.
- Avoid dropping or rough handling.
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse in water or clean under tap.
- Ensure units are dry before connecting to mains.
Storage
Store parent unit, baby unit, and adapters in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why does the baby monitor not respond normally?
- Disconnect power from both units, wait a few seconds, reconnect power, and turn units on. Allow up to one minute for synchronization.
- Why don't the power-on lights turn on?
- Ensure both units are properly connected to power adapters and wall sockets, and that the ON/OFF switches are in the ON position.
- Why doesn't my parent unit charge?
- Check that the power outlet is not controlled by a wall switch, or ensure the switch is turned on.
- Why is my screen in black and white?
- This is normal during night-time or in a dark room when the night vision feature is activated.
- Why do I get glare or blurry display at night?
- Adjust the baby unit's angle or place it higher to prevent glare and improve image quality.
- Why does the baby monitor produce a high-pitched noise?
- The parent and baby units may be too close. Move them further apart or reduce the parent unit's volume.
- Why does the parent unit beep?
- The baby units may be out of range (move parent unit closer, maintaining minimum distance), the parent unit battery may be low, or the room temperature may be too high or too low.
- Why don't I hear a sound or my baby cry?
- The parent unit speaker volume may be too low. Increase volume or set sound sensitivity to the highest level (Level 5).
- Why can't I establish a connection or why is it lost?
- Baby units may be out of range (move parent unit closer). Other electronic products may cause interference; move the monitor away from them. If only one baby unit is powered on, select it via the menu.
