Install the GM1483/GM1984 kit in the dash by carefully lining up the grooves in the radio cavity of the dash, then slide the kit back until the brackets "snap" into place.
The kit includes the GM1483 main installation bracket and the GM1484 EQ Kit, which provides an accessory/equalizer provision. An equalizer is not included with the kit. Diagrams illustrate the "snap shaft tabs" used for installation.
Radio Removal Procedures
1996-02 Chevrolet Astro Van / 1996-02 GMC Safari Van
RADIO REMOVAL:
- Extract two T-30 torx bolts, one from each side of the top console area and pop out the top half of the center console assembly.
- Extract two 9/32" hex screws from the bottom edge of the driver's side under-dash panel and one screw from the left dash below the defroster vent.
- Carefully pry the underdash panel out to release. Use caution when handling the parking brake release cable to release spring clips, unplug connectors, and remove the panel.
- Insert the key into the ignition and turn to "on". Adjust the shifter down to the lowest gear. Pull outward on the instrument/radio panel to release clips, unplug switches, and remove the panel.
- Push down on the side tabs securing the radio, slide the radio out of the dash, unplug connectors, and remove the radio.
1996-00 Chevrolet Express Van / 1996-02 GMC Savannah
RADIO REMOVAL:
- Carefully pull out the dash instrument/radio dash bezel to release spring clips, unplug connectors, and remove the panel.
- Compress the two plastic side radio mounting clips, slide the radio out of the dash, unplug connectors, and remove the radio.

1995-02 GMC Pickup - Full Size / 1995-99 GMC Suburban / 1995-02 GMC Yukon
RADIO REMOVAL:
- Engage the parking brake.
- Place the key in the ignition and depress the brake pedal to shift the vehicle into the lowest gear. This will allow the gear shift to be out of the way.
- Carefully pull out the dash instrument/radio dash bezel to release spring clips, unplug connectors, and remove the panel.
- Compress the two plastic side radio mounting clips, slide the radio out of the dash, unplug connectors, and remove the radio.
NOTE: It is recommended to use the Scosche GM02 factory connector and the MDA-1 antenna adapter to eliminate the need to cut any factory plugs.
