Glass Installation
Item No: 23304 / 23305
Start Here
- Find a clear area in which you can work.
- Unpack fixture and glass from carton.
- Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.
Installation Steps:
- To install the glass panels (1), first remove the four screws (2) that hold the four glass brackets (3) in place. Refer to Drawing 1.
- After screws and brackets are removed, the glass panels (1) can be slipped into place. This is accomplished by taking one panel and slipping the top edge of the glass into the slot (S) located in the top of the cage. Next, center the glass between the upright (U). Now replace one of the brackets (3) removed earlier. Then, slip in the second panel of glass and thread a screw (2) in the corner where the brackets (3) overlap. Repeat this process until all glass (1) panels are installed and all brackets and screws are replaced.
- Glass installation is complete.
Scroll Installation Steps:
- To install scroll (Z), secure one end of the scroll to the canopy (1) using hex nut (H).
- Secure the other end of the scroll to the fixture loop (P) using the provided screw (Y).
- The fixture can now be mounted and wired.
Diagram Description (Drawing 1 - Glass Install): Shows glass panels labeled (1), screws labeled (2), and brackets labeled (3). The diagram illustrates how to insert the glass panels into slots (S) on the cage and secure them with brackets and screws.
Diagram Description (Drawing 1 - Scroll Install): Shows the scroll component labeled (Z), canopy labeled (1), hex nut labeled (H), fixture loop labeled (P), and screw labeled (Y). It illustrates attaching the scroll to the canopy and fixture loop.

- Find a clear area in which you can work.
- Unpack fixture and glass from carton.
- Carefully review instructions prior to assembly.
Mounting Strap Preparation:
- Prepare the mounting strap (A) by threading two machine screws (B) (provided) into the back of the gull wing section of the mounting strap (A). Refer to Drawing 1. Ensure the holes into which the screws are threaded match the spacing of holes (D) in the back plate (1).
Diagram Description (Drawing 1 - Mounting strap preparation): Depicts the mounting strap (A) with a gull wing section. It shows machine screws (B) being threaded into the back of the strap. Labels indicate parts A, B, and D, and back plate (1).
Mounting Strap Installation:
- Attach the mounting strap (A) to the junction box (J) (mounted in the wall) using two (8-32) screws 1" long (C), which are NOT PROVIDED. Refer to Drawing 2.
Diagram Description (Drawing 2 - Mounting strap installation): Illustrates the mounting strap (A) being attached to a junction box (J) using screws (C). It shows parts A, C, D, F, and back plate (1).
Safety Warning:
READ WIRING AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS (I.S. 18) AND ANY ADDITIONAL DIRECTIONS. TURN POWER SUPPLY OFF DURING INSTALLATION. IF NEW WIRING IS REQUIRED, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN OR LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR CODE REQUIREMENTS.
Make electrical connections from supply wire to fixture lead wires. Refer to instruction sheet (I.S. 18) and follow all instructions to make all necessary wiring connections. Then refer back to assembly instructions for the purchased fixture to complete any assembly required.
Attaching Fixture to Wall:
- To attach the fixture to the wall, slip screws (B) in the mounting strap (A) through holes (D) in the backplate (1). Refer to Drawing 2.
- Thread on barrel knobs (F) and tighten until the canopy is flat against the wall.
- The fixture can now be lamped accordingly.
Wiring and Grounding Instructions (I.S. 18)
Wiring Instructions
Indoor Fixtures:
- Connect positive supply wire (A) (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to the positive fixture lead (B) with an appropriately sized twist-on connector. Refer to Drawings 1 or 2.
- Connect negative supply wire (C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to the negative fixture lead (D).
- Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
Outdoor Fixtures:
- Connect positive supply wire (A) (typically black or the smooth, unmarked side of the two-conductor cord) to the positive fixture lead (B) with an appropriately sized twist-on connector. Refer to Drawings 2 or 3.
- Connect negative supply wire (C) (typically white or the ribbed, marked side of the two-conductor cord) to the negative fixture lead (D).
- Cover the open end of connectors with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal.
If installing a wall mount fixture, use caulk to seal gaps between the fixture mounting plate (backplate) and the wall. This will help prevent water from entering the outlet box. If the wall surface is lap siding, use caulk and a fixture mounting platform specially.
- Please refer to the grounding instructions below to complete all electrical connections.
Grounding Instructions
Flush Mount Fixtures:
For positive grounding in a 3-wire electrical system, fasten the fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the fixture mounting strap (M) with the ground screw (S). Refer to Drawing 1. Note: On straps for screw-supported fixtures, first install the two mounting screws in the strap. Any remaining tapped hole may be used for the ground screw.
Diagram Description (Drawing 1 - Flush Mount): Shows supply wire, twist-on connectors, fixture leads, and labels for A, B, C, D, E, M, S. It illustrates wiring connections for flush mount fixtures.
Chain Hung Fixtures:
Loop the fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) under the head of the ground screw (S) on the fixture mounting strap (M) and connect to the loose end of the fixture ground wire directly to the ground wire of the building system with appropriately sized twist-on connectors. Refer to Drawing 2.
Diagram Description (Drawing 2 - Chain Hung): Shows supply wire, twist-on connectors, fixture leads, and labels for A, B, C, D, E, M, S. It illustrates wiring connections for chain hung fixtures.
Post-Mount Fixtures:
Connect the fixture ground wire (E) (typically copper or green plastic coated) to the power supply ground with an appropriately sized twist-on connector inside the post. Cover the open end of the connector with silicone sealant to form a watertight seal. Refer to Drawing 3.
Diagram Description (Drawing 3 - Post-Mount): Shows supply wire, twist-on connectors, fixture leads, and labels for A, B, C, D, E, M, S. It illustrates wiring connections for post-mount fixtures.
Caulking Instructions (IS200)
Start Here
- After securing the fixture to the wall, it is recommended that the gap between the wall and the fixture backplate be sealed on the top and both sides with a good quality waterproof caulk or silicone sealant (NOT INCLUDED). Refer to Drawing 1.
Diagram Description (Drawing 1): Shows a caulking gun and a bead of caulk to seal the gap between the fixture and the wall.
- After securing the fixture in place, it is recommended that the gap between the mounting top and fixture base be sealed with any good quality waterproof caulk or silicone sealant (not included). It is also recommended that a small bead of caulk or sealant be put under the ball knobs used to mount the fixture. Refer to Drawing 2.
