Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Lights-On Portable Series® projection screen. The screen material included is our StarBright CLR® 16, an optical lens front projection material formulated for environments with minimal control over room lighting. It is designed to filter and absorb overhead light while reflecting projector light from standard throw projectors, making it ideal for family rooms, educational facilities, conference rooms, or any application where ambient light is a factor.

Please read this user guide carefully to ensure correct usage and maintenance for a long product life.

Storage and Cleaning Instructions

Storage Conditions

The StarBright CLR® 16 screen material is composed of optical-grade PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) combined with UV-molded resin and exhibits hygroscopic properties. Environmental factors like humidity and temperature can affect its integrity and optical properties. Please adhere to the following conditions during installation and storage:

Recommended Temperature and Humidity Levels

Item Storage conditions
Temperature 50° - 95°F (10°-35°C)
Relative Humidity 25 - 80%

Surface Cleaning

Extended exposure to the atmosphere may lead to dust accumulation, affecting the viewing experience. To maintain optimal surface cleanliness, use the following methods:

Following these methods ensures the product remains free from surface contaminants and maintains optimal viewing quality.

Notes: Elite Screens is not responsible for damages due to negligence, misuse, or mishandling of the product, which will void your warranty.

Product Description

Design: The aluminum frame is lightweight and easy to handle during setup and takedown, making the screen highly portable.

Screen Fabric: The screen fabric attaches to the rectangular frame with Velcro for an evenly stretched and flat surface. The StarBright CLR® 16 material is delicate and should be carefully rolled to avoid surface damage.

SETUP/ASSEMBLY TIPS

Elite Screens recommends two people for assembly. Keep the material protection film and tube for disassembly and repacking.

Frame Assembly and Screen Material Attachment

  1. Take the folding frame (A) out of the carrying bag (E) and place it on a flat surface. Unfold the longer sections first. (See Figures 1-3)
  2. Unfold the frame until the latch on the hinge "clicks" into place. Repeat for the shorter sections. (See Figures 4-5)
  3. Ensure all 4 corners of the frame are at a 90° angle and the hinged support bar is straight and not bending (See Figures 6-7). Lay the frame out with the Velcro facing up (See Figure 8).

CAUTION!

The projection fabric is a delicate optical/lenticular screen material and should not be folded, bent, or creased. Always maintain the screen material flat and taut during setup and disassembly.

IMPORTANT: Two people are required for setup and installation to avoid permanent damage. Any damage to the screen material will void your warranty.

  1. Carefully remove the screen material tube from the carrying bag and handle it HORIZONTALLY with two hands to avoid dropping it (See Figure 9).
  2. Place the screen material tube on a flat surface horizontally. Remove both end caps and gently pull out the screen material. DO NOT SQUEEZE THE MATERIAL OUT OF THE TUBE TO AVOID IRREVERSIBLE PERMANENT BENDING/CREASING.
  3. Carefully unroll the screen material on a clean surface from the roller to the other side. Place it on top of the frame with the projection side facing up (See Figures 10-11). Ensure the frame corners are positioned in the marked areas of the material.
  4. Begin attaching the material from the corners in the following sequence (See Figure 12).

LEGS ATTACHMENT

  1. Lay the protective foam sheet on a clean flat surface and flip the screen over onto its backside, placing it on top of the sheet (See Figure 13).
  2. Carefully take the folding legs (B) out of the carrying bag (E) and place them on a flat surface.

Warning: The additional support sections on the legs may unfold on their own. Use caution when removing or placing the legs.

  1. Unfold the legs and position them on the back of the frame as shown.

Height adjustable feature:

The screen allows the main frame to be set at various height intervals.

  1. Position the legs on the back of the frame as desired. Align the leg's holes with the frame's holes and secure with the knob screws (F).
  2. Lift the screen up while simultaneously opening the front frame legs. Two people are needed for this step.
  3. Full screen assembly is now complete. If the screen material is uneven or wavy, pull the edges outward and reattach.

DRAPE/SKIRT INSTALLATION

Fasten the skirt (H) on the skirt hook (I), then attach along the bottom of the frame as shown.

Notice to Installer

For superior optical performance from the StarBright CLR® 16 screen, follow these installation instructions:

  1. Ambient Light must not come from the same direction as the projector's light.
  2. For best results, use a standard throw projector with a lens throw ratio of 1.35 or greater.
  3. This screen is not compatible with Ultra-short and Short-Throw Projectors.
  4. DO NOT install the projector higher or lower than the screen.

Tip: Installing the projector at a 90-degree angle in the middle projection area provides the best light dispersion for brightness uniformity.

Optimal Projector Placement for StarBright CLR® 16

A diagram illustrates optimal projector placement, showing a ceiling-mounted or table-top mounted projector relative to the screen's projection area (Top, Middle, Bottom).

Screen Disassembly

TWO PEOPLE REQUIRED

  1. Lay the protective foam sheet on a clean surface. Unhinge the front of each leg, then SLOWLY lower the screen onto the foam sheet. Note: The front side of the material should face down on the foam sheet.
  2. With the screen on the foam sheet, unscrew the knob screws on each side of the frame to remove the legs.
  3. Turn the screen over so the front is facing up.
  4. Unattach the material edges from the Velcro on all sides. Place the tube on top of the screen material and attach the edge of the material to the Velcro on the tube.
  5. Slowly roll up the material onto the tube and secure the ends.
  6. Insert the rolled material and tube into the bag.
  7. Once the material is completely rolled, insert the rolled material with the outer tube horizontally. DO NOT force it, as this may crush the ends and damage the material. If the material does not fit snugly, re-roll it.
  8. After the material is completely inside the outer tube, attach the end caps to secure the material.
  9. Unlatch the hinged support bars in each corner of the folding frame (A).
  10. Press the locking buttons near the folding joints and slowly gather the sides of the folding frame.
  11. Press the locking buttons again. Pick up one end of the folding frame and walk it to the other end, folding the longer sections in half.
  12. Carefully place the screen and components into the provided carrying bag (E).

CAUTION !! READ THIS FIRST!!

The screen material surface is extremely sensitive. It was photo-documented with S/N and quality inspected prior to packaging. The images provided are actual pictures of the screen material to assure you are receiving a defect-free product.

DO NOT PROCEED WITH ASSEMBLING THE SCREEN IF THERE IS ANY ISSUE WITH THE MATERIAL.

Before assembling the screen frame, carefully inspect your material. Report immediately if it arrived in a condition different from expected. The only possible causes of damage are a damaged box or user error during assembly. Ensure there are no issues with the material before continuing with the frame assembly.
