The XcelTrax® Pneumatic Walking Brace by DJO, LLC is designed for the application and management of lower leg and foot injuries. This legacy version provides patient application instructions and essential safety information.
Intended Use and Indications
This device is indicated for:
- Acute ankle sprains
- Soft tissue injuries of the lower leg
- Stress fractures of the lower leg and ankle
- Stable fractures of the foot and ankle
- Stable delayed union or non-union fractures of the distal tibia and fibula
- Achilles tendon repairs
Important Warnings and Precautions
Users must read and follow all instructions carefully. Key precautions include:
- Consult a medical professional immediately if experiencing pain, swelling, or sensation changes.
- Avoid overinflating aircells, especially for patients with diabetic neuropathy.
- Do not use on patients unable to communicate discomfort.
- Monitor patients without sensation frequently for skin irritation.
- Exercise caution on slippery surfaces.
- Adjust aircell pressure at high altitudes.
- Always consult a physician or therapist before making brace adjustments.
- Inspect the brace for damage before each use and discontinue use if worn or torn.
- Never alter or repair the product; use only DJO® approved accessories.
Application and Usage Instructions
Proper application is vital for the device's function. Key steps involve:
- Fastening and wrapping foot and leg flaps snugly.
- Centering the foot and ankle at a 90° angle.
- Securing hook and loop straps from toe to limb, avoiding over-tightening.
- Inflating the air liner for comfortable support using the center air bulb.
- Deflating or adjusting compression via the side button.
For added comfort, extra padding pads can be used inside the liner.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Liners should be hand-washed with mild soap and rinsed thoroughly. Air dry only. Ensure complete rinsing to prevent irritation and material deterioration.

DJO, LLC offers a six-month warranty against material or workmanship defects for the unit and its accessories.
