Firmware Update Instructions
The firmware must be updated using a single USB device. There is one firmware update file available for the current Alpine radio generation, covering the iLX-F905D, iLX-F115D, iLX-705D, and i905D models.
To begin, please download the file named "iLX-F905D_USB-Stick.zip" and follow the instructions provided. The iLX-F905D, iLX-F115D, iLX-705D, and i905D units can be updated via the USB 1 connection. Before commencing the update, please review the following important notes. The downloaded file is in a compressed zip format. The contents of this file must be extracted onto a freshly formatted USB device (FAT32). The update process typically takes between 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

Important Notes
- Do NOT use the compressed file for the update; otherwise, the unit will not recognize the files.
- Do NOT change the folder name or file names; otherwise, the unit will not recognize the files.
- Do NOT store the folder inside another folder.
- Do NOT store any other folders or files on the USB device.
- Do NOT remove the USB device while the update is in progress.
- Do NOT update the unit while driving.
- Do NOT press any buttons on the unit while updating.
- Do NOT turn off the vehicle's ignition or the head unit's power switch during the update.
Modern vehicles may automatically shut down the ignition (ACC) after a period of inactivity if the engine is not running. If you are unsure whether this applies to your vehicle, it is recommended to leave the engine idling while the update is in progress.
Connection Diagram Description
The Alpine head unit features multiple connection ports. The primary port for updates is labeled "USB 1 2.4A Android Auto". Another port is available as "USB 2 1.5A For Charge". Other connections include "SXM/DAB", "EMOTE", "AUX IN", and "GPS". The main unit is referred to as the "AVN Unit".
Installing the Update Software (USB Stick)
- Store the downloaded and extracted files from "iLX-F905D_USB-Stick.zip" onto an empty USB device. Ensure these files are placed in the Root Folder of the USB drive.
- Turn on the vehicle's ignition to power up the Alpine Head Unit.
- Press the "Menu" button (physical hard key) on the Alpine Head Unit to access the settings menu. On the screen, press the "Setup" button, followed by the "System" button.
- Navigate to and press the "About" button on the screen. Within the About menu, you will find the current "Firmware Version" and an "Update" button to initiate the firmware update. Press the "Update" button.
- Connect the USB stick to the "USB 1 2.4A Android Auto" port on your Alpine Head Unit. Press the "OK" button to commence the update process.
- After the system checks the update file on the USB stick, a screen will appear displaying both the pre-installed firmware ("Current Version") and the new firmware ("New Version"). The file check process may take up to 60 seconds.
- Press the "Update" button again to begin the firmware installation.
- When an update confirmation message appears on the screen, press the "Yes" button.
- The update process will commence. A message indicating "Software update in progress. Please wait..." will be displayed. The update is expected to be completed in approximately 3 minutes. Once finished, a "Software update complete. System will reboot." message will appear. Press the "OK" button, and the Alpine Head Unit will automatically reboot.
- Safely remove the USB device from the Alpine Head Unit.
- To reset the Alpine Head Unit, navigate through the menu: Menu → Setup → System → About. Then, select "Clear All Settings" and press the "Reset" button. Please note: This action will delete all personal audio settings.
- When prompted with an initialization confirmation message, press the "OK" button.
- The Alpine Head Unit will reboot automatically once more.
- To verify the firmware version, navigate to Setup: Menu → Setup → System → About → Firmware Version. If the "Firmware Version" number displayed in the SETUP menu is, for example, "2.0.000", the update procedure has been successfully completed.
