Viltrox DC-X2 6-inch Professional Photography Monitor

Introduction

The Viltrox DC-X2 is a 6-inch professional photography monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. It is designed for use with interchangeable-lens digital cameras or digital HD camcorders, providing real-time display of high-definition signals via HDMI. This monitor offers a powerful monitoring assistance system for photographers, meeting their high-definition image quality needs.

Installing Battery and Adapter Mount

Installing the Battery

This product supports rechargeable lithium batteries. Compatible battery models include NP-F550/F570/F750/F770/F960/F970 series.

  1. Gently press the battery inward in the indicated direction and slide it to the right (do not release). A click sound indicates it is secured.
  2. To remove the battery, press and hold the battery release button, slide the battery to the left, and then remove it. Be careful not to drop the battery.

Installing the Adapter Mount

  1. Select the adapter mount orientation based on the shape of your camera's hot shoe (①).
  2. Align the 1/4 screw of the adapter mount with the 1/4 screw hole on the monitor (②).
  3. Lock the turntable of the adapter mount (③).
  4. To use the adapter mount:
  5. a. Fully insert the base of the adapter mount into the universal hot shoe seat in the direction shown.
  6. b. Lock the turntable of the adapter mount to secure it to the camera. Use a hex wrench to tighten the adapter mount at this port position.

Note: If using a camera with a pop-up built-in flash, ensure the camera's built-in flash is turned off. If the camera has an auto-flash function, disable it. Remove the monitor from the camera before using the flash.

Connecting the High-Definition Signal Cable

  1. Connect the monitor to your camera using the included HDMI high-definition signal cable. If the cable is too short, purchase a longer one separately.
  2. Turn on the power for both the camera and the monitor. The image from the camera's viewfinder will be displayed on the monitor's screen. If your camera has an HDMI output setting, set it to AUTO or 16:9.

Note: When connecting the monitor to a camera via HDMI, depending on the camera, the image may only display on the monitor's screen, with no image shown on the camera's screen.

Tip: If the screen displays 'No Signal' after a period, check if the camera is outputting a signal or if the HDMI cable is disconnected.

Sun Hood

To install the sun hood:

  1. Place the monitor onto the two base supports of the sun hood and gently snap it upwards.
  2. To remove the sun hood, pull the two top supports outwards.

Touch Screen Operation

Note: While zoomed in, you cannot access the menu by double-tapping. Wait for the zoom box to disappear, then double-tap to access the menu.

Operation

Power On

Press and hold the Power Button (⑥) for 3 seconds. The indicator light will turn green, and the screen will light up.

Note: Indicator light is green when there is a signal, and red when there is no signal.

Power Off

Press the Power Button (⑥) once. The screen will display "Operation Reminder". Select "Confirm" to power off. The indicator light and screen will turn off.

Troubleshooting

Problem Cause and Solution
Cannot remove battery Battery not unlocked: Press the battery release button and slide out the battery.
Battery depleted: Replace the battery.
Device has no power Power adapter disconnected: Reconnect the power adapter correctly.
Cannot mount device to camera Incorrect adapter mount type: Use the correct adapter mount.
Camera in power-saving mode: Half-press the camera's shutter button to exit power-saving mode.
No image displayed on the monitor HDMI cable disconnected or signal source off: Reconnect and set up correctly.
Camera without live view: Refer to the camera's manual. Images may not display if the camera does not support live view via HDMI.
No image displayed on the camera screen Depending on the camera, the image may only display on the monitor when connected via HDMI.
No sound Volume set to 0: Adjust volume.
Camera audio setting is OFF: Ensure the camera's audio setting is not disabled.
Cannot shoot Camera switched to playback mode: Switch the camera back to shooting mode before taking photos.
Screen unclear outdoors Use the sun hood to block sunlight. Increase the monitor's backlight setting.

Firmware Update

  1. Download the latest firmware from www.viltrox.com.cn.
  2. Unzip the firmware and save it to a USB flash drive.
  3. Turn on the monitor and insert the USB drive into the USB port.
  4. Navigate to Menu: System Settings (⚙️) → System → Firmware Update → Confirm. The update interface will appear automatically.
  5. Wait for the progress bar to complete. The system will automatically shut down upon completion.
  6. Press the power button to restart. Wait for the progress bar to load, and the logo to appear. Firmware update is complete.

Note: Use a USB drive formatted as FAT32 for the update.
