Main Unit Instructions
Front View: Features an LCD screen, A Button (Select/Care), B Button (Decide/Time), and C Button (Cancel/Check Status).
Back View: Includes a Reset Switch and Battery Compartment Cover.
Setting the Time: When the hour flashes, press the [A Button] to select the correct hour and the [B Button] to confirm. When the minutes flash, press the [A Button] to select the correct minutes and the [B Button] to confirm. Press the [C Button] to return to the previous selection. R2-D2 will only appear after the clock has been set. Use AM for morning and PM for afternoon; be careful not to make mistakes.
R2-D2 Creation: R2-D2 is created after the production chain logo appears.
R2-D2 Evolution: R2-D2 transforms into different versions with various skills based on your care. How you care for your R2-D2 determines its skills.
Ball Chain Assembly: Pinch the assembled parts firmly to unlock the chain. Hook the end of the chain into the groove and pull firmly to lock it.
Growth Chart: Train R2-D2 to master different skills!
Caring for Your R2-D2
General Care: Do not expose the Tamagotchi device to water, as it may not function. Avoid using or storing it in humid places.
When R2-D2 Calls: When R2-D2 calls, press the [A Button] and take care of it. If you miss a call, press the [C Button] to check its status. After caring for it, press the [C Button] again to see R2-D2's reactions, which vary depending on the R2-D2 you are raising.
Feeding: If R2-D2 is hungry, press the [A Button] to select and the [B Button] to decide.
Cleaning: If R2-D2 is dirty or in a bad mood, press the [A Button] to select and the [B Button] to decide.
Battery Replacement: If R2-D2's battery is low, press the [A Button] to select and the [B Button] to decide.
Mini-Games
How to Play: If your R2-D2 wants to play, press the [A Button] to select on the selection screen and press the [B Button] to make a decision.
Fight the Fire:Extinguish the Fire! Press the [A Button] as many times as possible within 15 seconds to extinguish the fire. Success will put out the fire; failure means it continues to burn.
Dejarik (Holographic Chess): Play the "Holographic Chess Game"! Press the button shown in the corner. Press the [A Button] twice if letters appear twice (e.g., "AA"). If you press the correct combination, you win and Chewbacca loses. If you press the wrong combination, you lose and Chewbacca wins. Play 5 times and don't let the Wookiee win!
R2-D2 Skills & Evolution
R2-D2 Levels: R2-D2 can be in Normal or Superior levels.
Skills (Competencies): Skills include Scanner Antenna, Periscope, Manipulator Arms, Electric Prod, Multifunction Utility and Interface Arms, Electric Arms, Gripping Arms, Universal Interface Arms, and Circular Saw.
Co-Pilot Mode: Available co-pilot modes include N-1 Starfighter, Delta-7B, Eta-2 Actis-class T-70 Interceptor, and X-wing Starfighter.
Special Skills: Special skills include Booster Propellant and Holographic Projector.
Achievements & Special Games
Successes:
- Submarine Ship: Press Button B three times to stop the display from left to right. To win, stop the display so that the same ships are in the middle row. Success three times in a row increases display speed. Succeed in all five attempts for a perfect result; failure occurs if different images stop in the middle or if the button is not pressed to stop the display.
- Draw the Lightsaber: Press the [A Button] repeatedly for 15 seconds. Sufficient pressing allows you to call upon the Force to grab the lightsaber hilt released by R2-D2. Insufficient pressing will cause the lightsaber to fall.
- Catch the Lightsabers: Similar to drawing the lightsaber, press the [A Button] repeatedly.
- Adjust the Lock: The outer and inner rings rotate. Press the [B Button] at the right moment to align the keyhole slot upwards for both rings. Succeed in all five attempts for a perfect result; failure occurs if the keyhole is not aligned correctly or if the button is not pressed to stop the rings.
- Challenge Yoda: Press the [A Button] repeatedly for 15 seconds. Sufficient pressing allows you to catch the light Yoda is holding. Insufficient pressing pleases Yoda.
- The Ewok Trap: R2-D2 is trapped by Ewoks! When R2-D2 appears, press the [A Button] repeatedly for 15 seconds. Sufficient pressing allows you to cut the net with the circular saw and escape. Insufficient pressing means the saw will not pass through, and you will lose the escape opportunity.
- TIE Fighters / Meteorites (Flight Simulation): Move the control cursor to avoid incoming TIE Fighters or meteorites. Press the [A Button] to move left and the [B Button] to move right. Avoid at least five to succeed; failure occurs if the cursor is hit.
- Catch C-3PO's Letters / Catch BB-8's Letters: Letters and numbers from each droid's name appear and fall randomly. Catch the same letter as displayed in the top right. Press [A Button] to move left, [B Button] to move right. Catch all alphanumeric characters displayed in the top right to succeed. Failure occurs if you miss a letter or catch the wrong one.
Observation & Troubleshooting
R2-D2 Control System: You can view R2-D2's control system after some time. After confirming R2-D2's observations, press [A Button], [B Button], or [C Button] to close the system.
Malfunctions: Not responding to R2-D2's needs or leaving it dirty will cause it to malfunction. If R2-D2 malfunctions, keep pressing the [A Button] until it recovers. During a malfunction, you can only view/set the time and toggle sound. If left in a malfunctioning state, R2-D2 will be discarded. Be careful, as you cannot control it if it is to be discarded.
Jawas: If R2-D2 malfunctions or continues to malfunction, it will be discarded and taken away by Jawas.
Getting a New R2-D2: To get a new R2-D2, press the [A Button] while holding the [C Button].
Checking Time: Press the [B Button] when R2-D2 is on screen. Press [B Button] again to return.
Setting Time: Press and hold the [C Button], then press the [A Button] when the time is displayed. Refer to section 2 "Setting the Time".
Sound On/Off: Press [A Button] and [C Button] simultaneously when R2-D2 is on screen. Use the [A Button] to select sound on/off and the [B Button] to confirm. Note: You cannot change the sound if you need to care for R2-D2. Be cautious when turning off sound, as you will miss alerts.
Changing the Batteries
Note: When batteries are depleted, you restart with the birth of your R2-D2.
1. Remove the bottom of the device using a screwdriver. An adult should perform this.
2. Remove depleted batteries and replace them with 2 new LR44 (1.5V) batteries, ensuring correct polarity (➕ and ➖).
3. Replace the battery compartment cover. Reset the device.
Important: Also reset when commands do not work or an error appears on screen. Tamagotchi cannot save data; game history resets upon battery change or reset.
