Battery Warnings
- WARNING: Do not ingest battery, Chemical Burn Hazard.
- If the remote control supplied with this product contains a coin/button cell battery and the coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.
- Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.
- If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
- CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
- WARNING: There is a danger of explosion if you attempt to charge standard Alkaline batteries in the unit. Only use rechargeable NiMH batteries.
- Battery shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or the like.
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Completely replace all old batteries with new ones.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (ni-cad, ni-mh, etc) batteries.
- Batteries should be recycled or disposed of as per state and local guidelines.
Safety Warnings

Overview: Speaker Controls & Inputs
Front Panel
The front panel features mode indicator lights and an IR remote sensor. The indicator lights display the current status:
- Power Standby: Red Light
- Wi-Fi: White Light
- Optical: Orange Light
- HDMI: Yellow Light
- Aux/Line In: Green Light
Top Panel
The top panel includes controls such as Volume Up/Down (VOL+/VOL-), Wi-Fi Protected Setup/Play/Pause (WPS/II), and Source selection (SOURCE/⌀).
Rear Panel
The rear panel contains the connection ports: DC IN (power), OPTICAL IN, L AUX IN R (Stereo RCA inputs), and HDMI. It also houses the Connection/Alexa Indicator Light.
Control Functions
- Microphone Button: Press to activate Amazon Alexa and speak a command. You can also say, “Alexa..”, within range of the speaker's microphones. Press and hold for 10 seconds to reset the speaker.
- Volume Buttons (VOL+/VOL-): Press to adjust the volume up or down. You can also ask Alexa to set the volume level.
- WPS/II Button: In Wi-Fi Mode (white Mode LED), press and hold to begin connecting to a Wi-Fi network. Short press to play or pause audio playing in the iLive app.
- SOURCE/⌀ Button: Press and hold to power the speaker ON or OFF. Press to switch between Wi-Fi and Aux modes.
Connection/Alexa Indicator Light
Alexa Indicators:
- No Light: Amazon Alexa standing by
- Alternating Light & Dark Blue: Amazon Alexa listening/responding
- Red: Amazon Alexa and microphones muted
Connection Indicators:
- Flashing White (fast): Connecting to Wi-Fi
- No Light: Wi-Fi Standby Mode (Mode Indicator Light will display white for Wi-Fi)
Remote Control
The remote control provides access to various functions:
- POWER: Press ⏻ to power ON/OFF.
- MUTE: Press ? to mute audio.
- WIFI: Press ? to select Wi-Fi Mode.
- OPTICAL: Press to select Optical Audio Mode.
- HDMI: Press to select HDMI Mode.
- AUX: Press to select Aux In Mode.
- LINE IN: Press to select Line In Mode.
- MUSIC/MOVIE/DIALOG: Press to select equalizer profile.
- Skip Back/Fwd: Press to skip the selected track.
- Play/Pause: Press ▶️ to play or pause the selected track.
- Volume -/+: Press ➖ / ➕ to adjust volume.
Battery Replacement
The remote uses a CR 2025 battery. The battery compartment is located on the back of the remote. Refer to the diagram for replacement instructions.
Wall Mount Bracket Installation
Follow these steps to mount the sound bar to a wall:
- Step 1: Locate the mounting bracket holes on the rear of the sound bar. There are four holes on each side.
- Step 2: Using a screwdriver, attach the mounting brackets to the sound bar.
Installation Complete.
Setup: 1. Power
Use the included AC/DC Power adapter to connect the sound bar to a standard wall outlet. The DC Power port is located on the rear of the sound bar.
Setup: 2. Alexa App
Download the Amazon Alexa app from the Google Play™ Store or Apple App Store®. The app connects your sound bar to Alexa's voice services, allowing you to manage requests, contacts, lists, news, music, and settings. Log into your Amazon account within the app to use Alexa Voice Services. The speaker must be in Wi-Fi Mode/Cloud Play.
Setup: 3. iLive Wi-Fi App
Download the iLive Wi-Fi app from the Google Play™ Store or Apple App Store®. This app enables music playback from streaming services like Spotify and iHeartRadio, and controls advanced features such as Multi-room play and Multi-channel play. Note: This app is designed for mobile devices only (smartphones, Wi-Fi enabled tablets).
Setup: 4. Connect to Wi-Fi
To use Wi-Fi features, both the sound bar and your mobile device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The iLive Wi-Fi app will guide you through the process. Ensure your network password is ready. After the initial connection, the speaker will remember the network.
Initial Wi-Fi Connection:
Note: If you have a dual-band wireless router, connect to the 2.4GHz band, not the 5GHz band.
- Press and hold the Power button to turn on the sound bar. You will hear voice prompts indicating "Power On, Wi-Fi Mode" and "Entering Setup Mode". This process may take a minute or two.
- Open the iLive Wi-Fi app on your device and press "Search", then "Add Device".
- From the dropdown menu, select the ITWFV678 speaker and press "Connect Speaker".
- The app will direct you to your mobile device's Wi-Fi Settings Menu. Press "Settings" to go to your Wi-Fi settings, select the network starting with "iLive_ITWFV678_XXXX", and then return to the iLive app.
- Once back in the app, select your Wi-Fi network/router and enter the password, then press "Continue" to connect your device and the speaker to your Wi-Fi.
- The app will display the configuration progress. Upon successful connection, a voice will announce it, and the Connection LED will turn off. Press "Next" to proceed to Amazon Alexa Setup.
Setup: 5. Link Your Amazon Account
After Wi-Fi connection is complete, the app will prompt you to link the speaker with the Amazon Alexa app. If you do not have the Alexa app, refer to the instructions on page 11. You can skip this step and complete it later.
Enter your Amazon account information to complete setup and begin using Amazon Alexa with your speaker.
Amazon Alexa Manual Setup:
- From the Music Player Screen in the iLive app, swipe right to access the Menu Screen.
- Select "Amazon Alexa" from the list.
- Sign into your Amazon account when prompted.
Setup: 6. Things to Try with Alexa
Amazon Alexa Voice Services are accessible when the sound bar is in Wi-Fi Mode (Cloud Play). The Mode Indicator Light will be white.
Interact with Alexa by saying "Alexa," followed by a command or question. Examples include:
- “Alexa, tell me a joke.”
- “Alexa, what's in the news?”
- “Alexa, what can you do?"
When the speaker is in Wi-Fi mode and the Connection LED is white, Alexa is in standby. Say "Alexa..." to activate her. The Connection LED turns blue when Alexa is listening and responding. You can also press the ? button on the speaker to manually activate Alexa.
To mute Alexa and disable the microphones, press the ? button. The Connection LED will turn red. Audio functions will still work normally.
Setting Time Zone & Location
For accurate information (weather, movie times), ensure your location is correctly set. Alexa usually syncs automatically, but you can manually adjust it via the Alexa App: Open the Alexa App, press the ☰ icon, select Alexa Devices > ITWFV678 > Device Location.
iLive Wi-Fi App: Music Player Screen
The Music Player screen allows control over audio playback. Key elements include:
- 1. Music Directory: Access your music library.
- 2. Connection Mode: View or change the connection status.
- 3. Repeat/Shuffle: Control playback modes.
- 4. Volume: Adjust the speaker volume.
- 5. Play Controls: Play, pause, skip tracks.
Swipe right on the screen to access the Menu Screen or Device Menu.
iLive Wi-Fi App: Menu Screen
The Menu Screen provides access to various functions:
- 1. Search: Find songs, albums, and artists.
- 2. Favorites: Access saved songs, artists, albums, or stations.
- 3. My Music: Play music stored on your mobile device.
- 4. Internet Music Services: Access third-party music apps like Spotify, iHeartRadio, etc.
- 5. Cloud Play (Wi-Fi): Enable Wi-Fi Mode, required for Alexa.
- 6. Audio Inputs: Select different audio input sources (Optical, HDMI, AUX, Line In).
Settings and other options are also accessible from this screen.
iLive Wi-Fi App: Device List Screen
The Device List screen manages connected speakers:
- 1. Add Device: Add more speakers to the list.
- 2. Speaker Settings: Rename speakers, set presets, and view information.
- 3. Audio Channel: Set audio channels (L/R/LR for stereo).
- 4. Play All: Play music simultaneously on all connected speakers.
You can switch between multi-speaker synchronization and individual playback.
iLive Wi-Fi App: Multi-room Play & Multi-channel Play
Multi-room Play: Pair up to six iLive multi-room speakers for whole-home audio. Place speakers in different rooms and use the app to play music from any speaker, set individual volumes, or link all speakers to play the same song. Compatible iLive products include ISWFV387, ISWF476, ISWF576, ISWF776, ITWFV678, ICWFV428, IKBFV378.
Multi-mode: In the Device List, press and hold a device icon for two seconds, then drag towards another device to link speakers.
Solo-mode: Press and hold the device icon, then drag downwards past the dotted line.
Multi-channel Play with Multiple Speakers: For surround sound, set the Audio Channel selector to "LR" (stereo) for all speakers. For stereo play with two speakers, set one to "L" (left) and the other to "R" (right).
iLive Wi-Fi App: Internet Music Services
The iLive Wi-Fi app supports and plays music from services like Spotify, iHeartRadio, and others. You may need to log in and link your account with the app to access your saved media from these services.
Spotify Connect
To use Spotify Connect, you will need Spotify Premium.
- Connect your ITWFV678 to your Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Spotify app on your phone, tablet, or laptop using the same Wi-Fi network.
- Play a song and select "Devices Available".
- Select your ITWFV678 to start listening.

Other Ways to Play
Connecting HDMI
Requires an HDMI cable and a device with HDMI support. Use Audio Return Channel (ARC) for connection to a compatible audio receiver. Note: ARC may not support surround sound (5.1) or audio with more than two channels (2.0). Use an HDMI cable version 1.4 or higher.
- Connect the HDMI input on your TV to the HDMI output on your media player, streaming, or gaming device using an HDMI cable.
- Press the Source button to switch to the connected HDMI input.
Optical Input
Requires an audio source with an Optical Audio Output and a Digital Optical Audio Cable.
- Connect the Optical Output on your audio source (TV, amplifier, etc.) to the Optical Input on the sound bar using a Digital Optical Audio Cable.
- Power ON the sound bar and press "Optical" on the remote or "Source" on the sound bar to select Optical/SPDIF Mode. The indicator will turn orange.
- On your audio source, ensure audio settings are set to PCM or Optical Audio.
- Audio played through the connected source should now be heard through the speakers.
Important tips for optical audio:
- Use the correct toslink cable and ensure it is firmly seated.
- Optical audio output is activated from the source (indicated by a red light). It may be labeled SPDIF.
- Set the optical output source to PCM, not Dolby Digital.
Aux In (Stereo RCA Inputs)
Requires an RCA stereo audio cable (not included). Match the colored plugs (Red/White) to their corresponding ports.
- Connect the RCA stereo audio cable to the Aux Inputs on the sound bar and the audio outputs on your TV or other audio source.
- Power ON the sound bar and press "Source" on the sound bar or "Aux/Line In" on the remote to select Aux In Mode. The indicator will turn green.
- Audio played through the television or other source should now be heard through the speakers.
Line In
Requires a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
- Power on the speaker, then press the Power/Source button to select Line In Mode. The indicator will be a solid green LED.
- Connect a 3.5mm audio cable to the 3.5mm Line In on the sound bar and the audio output/headphone jack on an audio device.
- Audio played through the connected device will be heard through the speakers. Use the connected device's controls to play, pause, or skip tracks.
