Introduction
This section provides an overview of the iLive ITP180B Bar Speaker with Dock for iPhone/iPod. It details the basic functions of the buttons on the unit and the remote control.
Unit Controls:
- POWER: Press to turn the bar speaker on or off.
- SOURCE: Press to switch between iPhone/iPod, AV, AUX, and FM modes.
- VOLUME: Press to adjust the volume.
- PLAY/PAUSE: Press to play or pause a docked iPhone or iPod.
- iPod DRAWER: Press to open or close the motorized dock for iPhone/iPod.
Rear Panel Connections:
- LINE INPUT (3.5mm): For connecting audio sources via a 3.5mm cable.
- AUXILIARY INPUT: For connecting audio sources via RCA cables.
- SUBWOOFER OUTPUT: For connecting an external subwoofer.
- FM ANTENNA CONNECTION: For connecting the FM wire antenna.
- A/V INPUT: For connecting audio and video sources.
- VIDEO INPUT: For connecting video sources.
- S-VIDEO OUTPUT: For outputting video to a television.
- VIDEO OUTPUT: For outputting video to a television.
- RESET: Press using a paperclip or similar object to reset the bar speaker to its default settings.
Remote Control Overview
The remote control provides access to all functions of the bar speaker.
- STANDBY/ON: Turns the bar speaker on or off.
- MUTE: Mutes the volume.
- ALARM: Sets or cancels the alarm.
- CLOCK: Sets the clock.
- SLEEP: Sets the sleep timer.
- BASS: Adjusts bass levels when EQ is set to FLAT.
- REV/MIN and FWD/HR: Rewind/fast forward docked iPhone/iPod, or adjust clock/alarm time.
- MENU UP/DN: Navigates menus on a docked iPhone/iPod.
- SELECT: Makes selections on a docked iPhone/iPod.
- TUN/SKIP: Skips tracks or tunes the radio.
- ALBUM/CHAPTER/PLAYLIST: Skips through albums, chapters, or playlists.
- SOURCE: Switches between AV, AUX, FM, and iPhone/iPod modes.
- DISPLAY: Shows the clock on the display.
- iPod DRAWER: Opens or closes the motorized dock.
- NUMBER KEYPAD: For direct track selection or input.
- REPEAT: Repeats a track or album.
- TREBLE: Adjusts treble levels when EQ is set to FLAT.
- SHUFFLE: Plays songs in random order.
- EQ: Adjusts the equalizer settings.
- VOLUME: Adjusts the volume.
- PLAY/PAUSE: Plays or pauses music.
- STOP: Stops playback.
- MEMORY: Cycles through saved radio stations.
- iPod: Switches to iPhone/iPod mode.
- MEM: Saves a radio station to memory.
Setup
Power Connection:
Plug the attached AC cord into a standard AC power outlet to power the bar speaker.
Remote Control Batteries:
The remote control requires 2 AAA batteries (not included).
FM Antenna Connection:
Plug the included FM Wire Antenna into the FM Antenna Connection on the back of the unit.
Clock, Alarm, and Sleep Timer
Setting the Alarm:
- Press POWER to turn the unit on.
- Adjust volume to desired level.
- Press POWER to turn the unit off.
- Press ALARM on the remote. The alarm time will blink.
- Use REV/MIN and FWD/HR buttons to adjust minute and hour.
- Press SOURCE on the bar speaker to select the alarm source.
- Wait 5 seconds to finish setting the alarm. 'ALARM' will appear on the display when set.
- Press ALARM to cancel the alarm.
Setting the Clock:
- Press POWER to turn the unit off.
- Press CLOCK on the remote. The time will blink.
- Use REV/MIN and FWD/HR buttons to adjust minute and hour.
- Wait 5 seconds to finish setting the clock.
Setting the Sleep Timer:
- Press POWER to turn the unit on.
- Press SOURCE to select the desired sleep timer source.
- Press SLEEP repeatedly to set the sleep timer.
- The bar speaker will automatically power off after the set sleep time expires.
iPhone/iPod and FM Radio
Docking an iPhone/iPod:
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to iPhone/iPod mode.
- Press the iPod DRAWER button to open the motorized dock.
- Locate the correct numbered bracket for your iPhone/iPod model. Refer to the bracket chart for compatibility.
- Snap the bracket into place over the iPhone/iPod connector in the dock.
- Connect your iPhone or iPod to the connector inside the dock. The docked iPhone/iPod will charge when the speaker is powered by AC.
Playing an iPhone/iPod:
- Follow the instructions for docking an iPhone/iPod.
- Press PLAY/PAUSE to begin playing music.
Tuning the FM Radio:
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to FM radio mode.
- Use TUN/SKIP buttons on the remote to tune the FM radio.
Saving a Radio Station:
- Tune to the desired FM station.
- Press the MEM button.
- Use MENU UP or MENU DN buttons to select a preset number.
- Press MEM to save the station to the selected preset. Up to 20 stations can be saved.
Listening to Saved Radio Stations:
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to FM radio mode.
- Use the MEMORY buttons to cycle through saved stations.
Auxiliary Input, Line Input, and Subwoofer Output
Using the Subwoofer Output:
- Use an RCA cable (included) to connect an external subwoofer to the SUBWOOFER OUTPUT.
- When audio is played, the bar speaker will automatically use the connected subwoofer.
Using the Auxiliary Input:
- Connect an RCA cable (included) to the AUXILIARY INPUTS and an audio source.
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to AUX mode. Note: The AUXILIARY INPUTS will not work when the LINE INPUT is connected.
- Use the audio device's controls to play music through the bar speaker.
Using the Line Input:
- Connect a 3.5mm line input cable (not included) to the LINE INPUT and an audio source.
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to AUX mode. Note: The AUXILIARY INPUTS will not work when the LINE INPUT is connected.
- Use the audio device's controls to play music through the bar speaker.
Basic Connectivity
This section illustrates how to connect various home entertainment devices to the bar speaker.
Diagram Description:
A diagram shows a television connected via S-VIDEO and VIDEO inputs. The bar speaker is connected to a DVD PLAYER, DIGITAL CABLE or SATELLITE TUNER, GAMING CONSOLE, and VCR via AUDIO &/Or VIDEO and AUDIO connections. A SUBWOOFER is connected to the bar speaker.
AV Input and Video Input
Using the AV Input:
- Connect an RCA cable (included) to the AV INPUTS and an audio source.
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to AV mode.
- Use the audio device's controls to play music through the bar speaker.
Using the Video Input:
- Connect an RCA cable (included) to the VIDEO INPUT and a video source (DVD player, Cable or Satellite Tuner, Gaming Console, or VCR).
- Connect the bar speaker to a television using the VIDEO OUTPUT or S-VIDEO OUTPUT.
- Press POWER to turn the bar speaker on.
- Press SOURCE to switch to AV mode.
- Use the video device's controls to control video that runs through the bar speaker.
Using the Video Output:
- Connect an RCA cable (included) to the VIDEO OUTPUT and a television.
- Adjust the connected television to the proper input setting.
- Video from a docked iPhone/iPod or a connected DVD player can now be played through the bar speaker to the connected television.
Using the S-Video Output:
The S-Video Output will only output video from a docked iPod/iPhone.
- Connect an S-Video cable (not included) to the S-VIDEO OUTPUT and a television.
- Adjust the connected television to the proper input setting.
- Video from a docked iPhone/iPod can now be played through the bar speaker to the connected television.
Mounting to a Wall
Important Notes:
Professional mounting is recommended. Included spacers can be used to extend the speaker's face from the wall, useful when mounting under a television to ensure the speaker is flush with the TV.
Required Tools:
- Manual or Power Screwdriver
- Stud Finder
- Pencil
- Tape Measure
- Level
Included Hardware:
- (2) Wall Mount Brackets
- (4) Long Screws
- (4) Short Screws
- (2) 1/4" Spacers
- (2) 1/2" Spacers
- (2) 3/4" Spacers
Getting Started:
- Use the Tape Measure to determine the desired hanging height. The speaker must be within 6 feet of an AC power outlet.
- Use the Stud Finder to locate two parallel wooden studs for mounting brackets.
- Mark the center of the studs with a pencil.
- Use the Level to ensure marks are level, adjusting as needed.
- Drill through the top hole of the mounting brackets into the wall marks.
- Use short screws for brackets only, or long screws if using spacers.
- Use the Level to level each bracket, then drill the second screw into the bottom hole of each bracket.
- Slide the bar speaker onto the mounting brackets, ensuring a secure connection.
- Use the Level to confirm the bar speaker is level.
