Overview
The iDatalink Maestro RR is designed to seamlessly integrate an aftermarket car radio into your Volkswagen Beetle (2012-2015) or VW CC (2009-2015). It allows you to retain essential factory features such as steering wheel controls, Multi-Function Display (MFD), Media Device Interface (MDI), and factory Bluetooth.
Installation Steps
Follow these steps carefully for a successful installation:
- Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure you have the correct iDatalink Maestro RR module and the appropriate VW1 installation harness.
- Connect Harnesses: Connect the aftermarket radio's main harness to the VW1 T-harness, matching wire functions. Connect the factory harness to the VW1 T-harness and mate the white connectors. Avoid using the RCA plugs from the VW1 T-harness.
- OBDII Connection: Locate the OBDII connector under the driver's side dashboard. Connect the BROWN/RED wire of the VW1 T-harness to pin 6 and the BROWN/YELLOW wire to pin 14 of the OBDII connector. Do not connect the GREEN/WHITE wire.
- Aftermarket Radio Connections: Plug the aftermarket radio harnesses into the radio. Connect the data cable and the 3.5mm audio cable to the Maestro RR module.
- Module Setup: Connect all harnesses to the Maestro RR module and proceed with the module setup. Insert the aftermarket radio into the dashboard, test all functionalities, and reassemble the dashboard.
OEM Bluetooth Configuration
The iDatalink Maestro RR allows for configuration of the vehicle's OEM Bluetooth system for hands-free calling and audio streaming. The guide provides specific instructions for Kenwood and Alpine radios regarding enabling or disabling the factory Bluetooth.
Troubleshooting
If an airbag warning light appears after installation, follow the instructions to clear it via the vehicle's setup menu. For module reset, turn the key off, disconnect all connectors, press and hold the programming button, reconnect the connectors, and wait for the LED indicator.
