Ceiling Fan Remote Control System Installation and Operation Manual - Model MK-AC

Remote Control for Ceiling Fan

GENERAL INFORMATION

General Information

This remote controller is designed to separately control your ceiling fan speed and light brightness. There are four buttons (HI, MED, LOW, OFF) to control the speed of the fan and off. The light dimmer button will control the light brightness dimmer and off. The blue indicator on the transmitter will light when one of the six buttons is pressed.

Instruction of Installation and Operation

1. Setting the Codes

This unit has 16 different code combinations. To set the codes, perform the following steps:

A. Setting the codes on the transmitter:

  1. Remove battery cover. Press firmly on the arrow and slide battery cover off.
  2. Slide code switches to your choice of up or down position. Factory setting is all up. Do not use this position. Use a small screwdriver or ball point pen to slide firmly up or down.

B. Setting the codes on the receiver:

  1. Slide code switches to the same position as set on your transmitter.
  2. Replace battery cover on the transmitter.

2. Installing Receiver in Ceiling Fan

A. Safety Precautions:

WARNING: HIGH VOLTAGE! Disconnect power by removing fuse or switching off circuit breaker. Do not use with solid state fans. Electrical wire must meet all local and national electrical code requirements. Supply for fan must be 110/120 volt, 60Hz. Maximum fan motor amps: 1.0, Maximum light watts: 140W for incandescent or 60W for LED. Otherwise, power can cause serious injury or death.

B. Installing receiver in fan:

  1. Remove power from the circuit.
  2. Remove ceiling fan canopy from the mounting bracket.
  3. Disconnect existing wiring between ceiling fan and supply in electrical junction box.
  4. Make connections as follows, using the wire nuts supplied: If other fans or supply wires are different color, have this unit installed by a qualified licensed electrician.
  5. Push all connected wires up into junction box.
  6. Lay the yellow antenna wire on top of the receiver, and put the receiver into the mounting bracket.
  7. Reinstall the canopy on the mounting bracket.
  8. Restore power.

Wiring Diagram and Connections:

Diagram shows a transmitter with input/output terminals and a receiver with input/output terminals, AC connections (ACN, ACL), antenna (ANT), and connections for fan and light.

From Power Source (AC 110~120 Volt, 60Hz, 3.5 Amps):

Use wire connecting nuts supplied with the fan.

Receiver Connections:

  • Input:
    • Black receiver wire (AC IN L) connects to Black supply wire.
    • White receiver wire (AC IN N) connects to White supply wire.
  • Output:
    • White receiver wire (TO MOTOR N) connects to White fan wire.
    • Black receiver wire (TO MOTOR L) connects to Black fan wire.
    • Blue receiver wire (FOR LIGHT) connects to Blue light wire.

Wiring diagram illustrates connections from the power source to the receiver's input terminals (AC IN L/N) and from the receiver's output terminals (TO MOTOR L/N, FOR LIGHT) to the fan and light wires. Wire nuts are shown for connections.

Diagram shows the receiver inside a ceiling fan canopy. It indicates that the antenna wire should be placed on top of the receiver and that positioning it outside the canopy box can improve operation distance.

Note on Antenna: Place the antenna wire on top of the receiver. For better operation distance, the antenna can be placed outside the canopy box.

Caution: Ceiling Angle Shall Not Exceed 30 Degrees. For Mounting Controller, Model AC8.3T.

Note on Light and Fan Operation: Light must be kept at the ON position. Fan must be kept at the HIGH speed position for the remote to function.

3. Operating Transmitter

A. Battery Installation:

Install 1 x 3 volt battery (not included). To prevent damage to the transmitter, remove the battery if not used for a long time.

B. Storage:

Store the transmitter away from excessive heat or humidity.

C. Code Combination:

This remote control unit is equipped with 16 code combinations. To prevent possible interference from or to other remote units (e.g., garage door openers, car alarms, security systems), if your fan and light kit operate without using your remote control, simply change the code combination in your transmitter and receiver.

D. Operating the Buttons on the Transmitter Panel:

Illustration of the transmitter unit, model MK-AC, with its control buttons.

  • ⬆️ key: For fan speed HI.
  • ⬇️ key: For fan speed MED.
  • ⬅️ key: For fan speed LOW.
  • ❌ key: For fan OFF.
  • ? / DIMMER key: For light brightness and OFF.

The light function is controlled by pressing the LIGHT/DIMMER key down to increase or decrease light. Tap the key quickly to turn light off or on. Keep pressing the button for more than 0.7 seconds, and it becomes a dimmer; the light varies cyclically in 0.8 seconds. The receiver can remember the last status of the light brightness when the light was switched, so that it can resume to adjust the light brightness.
