Thank you for purchasing the HKS Power Editor R. Please read this manual carefully before installation and use to ensure safe operation and full functionality.
This manual contains important safety precautions to prevent danger or damage to yourself and others.
This product is developed based on normal vehicles and vehicles equipped with HKS products. HKS cannot guarantee the functionality, performance, or safety of this product when installed in other types of vehicles.
For consumable parts, lost parts, or to order this manual, please contact your dealer. When ordering parts, please provide the product name, code number, vehicle model, and engine model.
HKS is not responsible for any damage incurred due to misuse of this product or its accessories by the customer or any third party.
This product is only for vehicles with a DC12V negative ground system.
Product specifications, including accessories, are subject to change without notice for improvement. This manual may also be revised without notice.
2. Safety Precautions
Safety Levels
- ▲ Warning: Indicates a situation where death or serious injury to the operator or user may occur.
- ▲ Caution: Indicates a situation where injury to the operator or user may occur (personal injury).
- ▲ Notice: Indicates a situation where property damage may occur (property damage refers to material damage caused by the product, such as vehicle damage or fire).
Warnings
- Work in a well-ventilated area. Working in poorly ventilated areas can cause explosions or fires.
- When disconnecting connectors, pull by the connector itself to avoid wire breakage. This can cause fires due to short circuits, and damage or burning of electrical components.
- If you notice any abnormal sounds or smells from the product during use, stop using it immediately and contact your dealer. Continued use may cause electric shock or fire.
- Perform installation work in a location where the vehicle can be parked safely.
Cautions
- Always entrust the installation of this product to a professional installer. Improper installation by non-professionals may result in burns or injuries.
- Never misuse, modify, disassemble, or attempt to repair this product. This may lead to electric shock, vehicle damage, or fire.
- Install the product away from areas that get hot, are exposed to water, or are humid and dusty. Improper installation can lead to malfunction and vehicle damage.
- Ensure wiring is done correctly without any breaks, short circuits, or incorrect connections. This can lead to electric shock, vehicle damage, or fire.
- Do not attempt to repair malfunctions yourself; always consult a professional installer.
- If you notice any abnormal sounds, smells, or vibrations while driving, follow the instructions in the User Manual for handling.
- Before using this product, confirm the following: The vehicle's ECU is the genuine manufacturer's product. The ECU data is either normal or HKS Mastery ECU Phase 1.
- When connecting or disconnecting connectors, always hold the connector itself. Pulling the cable can cause wire breakage.
- When servicing or inspecting the vehicle, remove this product before handing the vehicle over to the service provider.
- Daily inspections are the driver's responsibility. Always perform them.
3. Product Features
Key Features
- Achieve boost-up easily by splicing into the vehicle's boost pressure sensor and airflow sensor wiring.
- Return the vehicle to its normal state by removing the Power Editor R unit and connecting the included return connector.
- Change boost-up data (map) via the included USB harness and "Easy Writer for Power Editor R" software. (Download software from HKS website. Disconnect vehicle-specific harness waterproof connector when connecting USB.)

5. Power Editor R LED Display, Map Selection
LED Indicators
- Off: Power OFF
- On: Power ON (Normal operation)
- Continuous blinking: Map data corrupted. Boost-up is disabled; operation is normal.
Map Switching with Switch
- Switching to Map A: LED blinks once.
- Switching to Map B: LED blinks twice.
Map A/B Explanation
- Two maps (A and B) are available, switchable via the map switching switch.
- Map switching is invalid if Map B is disabled. (Factory default: Map B is disabled.)
- To use Map B: Enable it in "Easy Writer for Power Editor R" software and input correction values.
- Map Switching Wiring: Connect the map switching switch harness. Releasing the blue and black wires selects Map A; shorting them selects Map B.
- Note: A map switching switch is required for Map B and must be purchased separately.
- If the map switching switch harness is not used, Map A is selected by default. Map selection can also be managed via "Easy Writer for Power Editor R" software.
6. Using Tie-wrap Base
Use the included M4 screws with tie-wrap bases. Using incorrect screw sizes may cause detachment or case damage.
7. Vehicle Specific Harness Preparation, Installation
Refer to the instruction manual included with the vehicle-specific harness.
8. Troubleshooting
If the product does not operate normally, check the following before concluding it is a malfunction. If an abnormality occurs (e.g., check engine light), remove the Power Editor R and install the return connector.

9. Handling Abnormalities and Malfunctions
- Warning: If any abnormal sounds, smells, or other signs of abnormality occur during use, stop using the product immediately and contact your dealer. Continued use may cause electric shock or fire.
- Caution: Never attempt to repair malfunctions yourself; always consult a professional installer. If any abnormal sounds, smells, or vibrations occur while driving, follow the instructions in the User Manual. For malfunctions, after completing "Warranty Registration," inform your dealer of the serial number and request repair. Refer to "14. About Warranty" for details.
