What is a software Service Release?
It is a collection of updates, fixes and/or enhancements made to the current Snap-on® diagnostics software upgrade.

What does it mean when I hear there will be scheduled service releases?
Snap-on Diagnostics delivers a minimum of one North America service release approximately 2 months after the current software release. This may also mean that previous versions of software are addressed in a current service release.

How will customers find out about these updates?
For ZEUS and VERUS series customers, updates are communicated through the platform's ShopStream Update Tool software. For other platforms (APOLLO, TRITON, MODIS, SOLUS, and ETHOS series), promotion includes:
- Franchisees: Key News of the Week (KNOW), Diagnostic bulletin, Franchisee Portal, Customer Care 'on hold' messages.
- Customers: Customer Care FAQ page, email notification, platform messaging, 'on hold' messages.

Who are these updates for?
North America customers currently running Software Upgrade 20.4 on the following platforms:
- ZEUS, TRITON-D8, APOLLO-D9, APOLLO-D8, VERUS Edge, VERUS PRO, MODIS Edge, MODIS Ultra, SOLUS Legend, SOLUS Edge, SOLUS Ultra, P1000, ETHOS Edge, ETHOS Tech, ETHOS PRO and ETHOS Plus.

What is contained in these updates?
This Upgrade 20.4 service release delivers device operation enhancements and a better user experience with more available tests and data on affected vehicles.

How can customers receive the updates?
- ZEUS and VERUS family customers: Updates are automatic via the ShopStream Update Tool. Alternatively, customers can click Start -> ShopStream Update Tool -> Check for updates.
Instructions: ShopStream Update Tool Information Guide - APOLLO-D9 customers: From the unit's home page, click Tools -> Software Updates and follow prompts.
Instructions: ShopStream Update Tool Information Guide-APOLLO-D9.pdf - Other Snap-on diagnostic platforms: Available via ShopStream Connect™ (SSC). SSC can be downloaded for free from the Diagnostics public website: Snap-on Diagnostics Public Website.
BEST PRACTICE: Once installation is complete, repeat the process to ensure all available updates are installed.

Instructions about Service Release downloads can be found in the ShopStream Update Tool Guide at my.snapon.com. Navigate to the Diagnostics section, click Sales Support Files link, and refer to the "Software Materials: Service Release Information" tab.

How does the customer know if the update was successful?
- ZEUS, VERUS Edge and VERUS PRO: At the end of installation, a dialog box shows "Installation complete". Verify by accessing the “Menu” button, selecting Help, then Version Info. The new version will be displayed.

Are there any special considerations regarding these service releases and wireless platforms?
- For ZEUS and VERUS family units, hold down the power button until the unit turns off. After this process, the tool can be restarted.
- For APOLLO-D9, if SR1 was not successfully installed previously, it will install SR1 first. When complete, the unit will need to install the new SR2. The unit will not prompt the user to install SR2. The user needs to check for updates by clicking the Tools icon from the unit's home page, choosing Software Updates, and following the prompts to complete the download and installation.
