AOR 8200PC Computer Control Lead
Model: 0008
General
The AR8200PC Computer Control Lead is designed to connect the AOR AR8200 receiver to a computer via its RS-232C serial port. This lead features built-in level shift conversion, enabling computer control of the AR8200.
To control the AR8200, a computer serial port and appropriate software are required. For IBM-PC compatible computers (with 80386 processor or higher), Microsoft Hyper-Terminal or Windows-Terminal (for Windows 3.1x) can be used with the correct serial port parameters.
For advanced capabilities, custom software is recommended. The 'AR8200 Workshop' software package, offering hands-off control, memory management, logging, and spectrum display, can be downloaded free from AOR's internet websites. Additionally, the 'AREX SYSTEM' software package (Japanese only) is available as a free download from the AOR Japan website. Third-party vendors also offer AR8200-compatible software on a commercial basis.
Download resources are available via the following websites:

- UK/Europe: http://www.aoruk.com
- USA/America: http://www.aorusa.com
If internet access or suitable software is unavailable, consider purchasing the CC8200. The CC8200 includes the 8200PC lead and a CD-ROM containing the 'AR8200 Workshop' and other software files.
Connection for RS232 Operation
The option socket is located on the right-hand side of the AR8200 cabinet, beneath the 12V d.c. input socket. It is protected by a rubberised case stopper hinged towards the front of the cabinet. Gently lift the stopper from the rear edge to expose the metallic socket.
Insert one end of the 8200PC cable into the AR8200 option socket. The other end of the cable features a 9-pin D-type RS232 female plug for connection to a PC or other computer. A 9/25 way adapter may be required for some computers.
The level shift interface of the 8200PC lead is powered by the AR8200 receiver. Exercise caution to prevent dust, dirt, or liquid from entering the socket, and ensure no conductive material causes a short circuit, which could damage the receiver.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the physical connection setup. It shows the AR8200PC cable connecting from a computer's serial port (labeled "To serial port (通信ポートへ接続)") to the AR8200 receiver's accessory socket (labeled "To option socket (アクセサリー端子へ接続)"). A CD-ROM package, identified as containing "AR8200 Workshop / AREX SYSTEM" software, is also displayed.
