I. Flip Camera Wiring Diagram
Figure 1: Wiring Diagram
This section details the connections for the Flip Camera system.
- 1. Drain Pipe: Connect the white outlet of the Flip Camera (8) to the trunk's drain hole. Ensure the larger end faces the trunk.
- 2. Trunk Switch Connector: Connect to the trunk lock connector.
- 3. Ruler Control Line (White): This line can be cut or connected to control the reverse line, regardless of whether it is displayed or not.
- 4. Red Line: This is the positive power cable. Connect to a normal 12V power supply. Connecting to ACC will prevent the trunk from opening automatically.
- 5. Black Line: This is the negative power cable. Connect to the negative terminal of the DVD player.
- 6. Blue Line: This is the signal line. Connect it to the positive terminal of the direction indicator for the driving light, or connect it to the "reverse electric" filter.
- 7. Video Output (RCA): Connect the DVD rear panel connector to the "drive rear-view input".
- 8. Camera Drain: Connect to the drain pipe (1).
- 9. Output Power Connector: This is the connection point for connector no. 10.
- 10. Flip Camera Power Connection: Connect to connector no. 9.
- 11. Video Input Line (PIN): Connects to connection no. 12.
- 12. Video Extension Core (RCA): Connects to plug no. 11.
- 13. Driving Test Control Line: Connect to the driving test control line of the DVD player.
II. Preparation Before Installation
Important Note: Before performing any work on the electrical system, disconnect the battery's ground wire.
- Remove the decorative panel from the trunk.
- Remove the trunk logo switch. Pull out the switch connector.
- Plan the routing for the camera video lines.
- Plan the wiring route according to the diagram.
III. Flip the Logo Camera System Installation
Figure 2: Hole in trunk lid for camera installation.
Open the trunk. Remove the rubber stopper from the logo switch located in the trunk. As indicated by the arrow, this hole serves as the outlet for the drain pipe. Attach the drain pipe (1) through this hole to the top of the waterproof camera (8), securing both ends. Position the grooved part of the drain pipe onto an iron plate.
Figure 3: Trunk latch mechanism.
Note for older MAGOTAN cars: Modifications may be required to remove the trunk logo near the iron plate. Remove the trunk's decorative panel, disconnect the switch connector, and then remove the trunk switch. Pay attention to the two push buttons located above the car logo; they need to be rotated approximately 30° to release and remove the button.
Figure 4: Camera installation detail.
Take drain pipe 1 and water drain 8. Orient the camera as shown in the image. Tighten the bolts. Connect the drain pipe from Figure 2 into the hole where leakage might occur and secure it.
Figure 5: Connecting the trunk switch connector.
As illustrated, connect connector no. 2 of the Flip Logo to the car's trunk switch. Car trunks with a kick-open function have a connector hole with 4 wires. Locate the corresponding induction line directly on the connector and connect it to connector no. 2.
Figure 6: Wire color identification.
Wire Identification:
- Red Line: Positive voltage. Connect to the normal power source of the DVD cables.
- Black Line: Negative voltage. Connect to the negative power source of the DVD cable.
- Blue Line: Reverse signal cable. Connect to the positive voltage of the reverse light or the "rear-view mirror power supply" using the blue line from the filter.
Figure 7: Cable routing and connection.
Connect all wiring harness connectors as shown in the diagram, pressing the arrow to secure them. Ensure connectors are not bent, as this can cause short circuits. Route the video cable and power cables through the trunk, door panel, and other areas to the dashboard, connecting them to the DVD player. Important Note: Route the video cable carefully to avoid contact with the GPS antenna and radio antenna. Do not run power cables parallel to each other, as this can cause image interference.
IV. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Issue: Reverse logo not working. Solution: Check if fuse 4 has blown (specification: 5A).
- Issue: Moiré effects appear in the image. Solution: Ensure the filter included in the product packaging is connected between the reverse light and line 6.
- Issue: Cannot select the reverse clamshell. Solution: Check for a fault on the 6th wire (brake light) on the blue line of the power cable.
- Issue: Other functions work, but no image is displayed. Solution: Verify that lines 7, 11, 12, and 13 are correctly connected and that connector 12 is properly seated. A bent plug or connector causing a short circuit will result in no image.
- Issue: Trunk cannot be opened. Solution: Ensure power cable 4 is connected. Check for poor contact between the connector and the trunk lock connector.
- Issue: Clamshell flips after engine start. Exception: This can occur if the reverse light voltage drops below 10V or exceeds 15V. The clamshell safety mechanism or the hanging reverse gear of the LED may not flip up. Repairing the headlight circuit can resolve this instability.
